Isis adds Visa, MasterCard, American Express to mobile payment lineup

Isis hasn’t shown us much more than a logo and a black and white rendering of its NFC-powered mobile payment system, but the outfit proved today that it has all of its ducks — or, rather, major credit card companies — in a row. According to the group — a collaboration between AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon — Isis will launch with Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express on board. Back in May, we reported that the credit card alternative was shaking up its initial, Discover-only platform to let the competition in. Since then, the Goog’s swept in with Google Wallet (backed by Sprint), which also counts MasterCard as a partner. Google’s already got a head start, with Wallet trials underway in New York and San Francisco, but the internet giant might just need the lead, considering the list of heavy hitters Isis has lined up for its 2012 debut.

Helpful Tip: How to Create a Distribution List in Outlook 2007

This article was written on November 07, 2008 by CyberNet.

Here’s a helpful tip for those of you who have just started using Microsoft Office Outlook 2007, or you’ve been using it but haven’t figured out how to create Distribution Lists. Distribution lists make it easy for you to send one message to multiple people that you frequently email without needing to enter in all of the email addresses individually, every single time. In a nutshell, a Distribution list is a collection of contacts. When you go to send an email after creating a Distribution List, you enter the name of the list in the “To” field, and then anybody who is part of the list will receive the email.

How to Create a Distribution List in Outlook 2007

  1. Open-up Microsoft Office Outlook 2007
  2. Click the drop-down arrow next to “New” (the same “new” you click when you want to create a new message), then select Distribution List
  3. You can also click Ctrl + Shift + L

A new window will appear once you’ve clicked on “Distribution List” and from there you’ll select the contacts that you would like to be a part of the list, and give it a name.

The name for my distribution list in the example above is “Family.” Once I enter a name, then I can click “Select Members.” This pulls up my contacts list so that I can choose which individuals I would like to be a part of my “Family” list. You can add members by double-clicking on each name. Once all members are selected, you’ll click “Save & Close.”

After your list is created, you will see the name of the Distribution List listed in your contacts. Think about how useful this feature could be! Maybe you have several groups of people that you email at work, or a group of friends that you frequently send messages too. Once you get the lists set-up, they can be a huge time-saver for you.

Photoshop (Elements) Comes to the Mac App Store

Off with his head! Serial blinkers are no longer a problem with Photoshop Elements 9

Grab your coats: Hell has just frozen over. Or rather, Photoshop has come to the Mac App Store. For $80, you can now download Photoshop Elements 9 from the App Store.

Ever since the Mac Store was announced, there have been two standout examples of apps that would “never” be sold through Apple’s strictly-controlled channel. The first is Microsoft’s Office suite. The second was Photoshop. The reasons? Price and compatibility.

The thinking goes that Adobe and Microsoft wouldn’t want to give 30% of the revenue of their flagship products to Apple. The second, and more sensible reason is that these monster applications would never be accepted into the Store thanks to their deep and “illegal” ties into OS X.

Elements isn’t the full Photoshop, to be sure, and is clearly compatible with Apple’s rules (either that or Apple has bent them). More interesting is the price. The full Elements 9 costs $100, making the App Store version cheaper. It is missing the Adobe Elements Organizer, but as Elements is designed to complement apps like iPhoto, this is probably a good thing.

Elements is like a power editor for your snaps. You can tweak the basics, but the gimmick is that you get to use Adobe’s fancy-pants image processing features. You can paint out mistakes with a brush that uses Content Aware Fill to fill in the gaps. You can make panoramas. You can even switch in people from various group shots to get one picture with everyone looking good.

Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 is available now for $80, the same price as Apple’s Aperture.

Saitek flight gear replicates Cessna 172 Skyhawk, lets you simulate lazy Sunday flyovers

Sure, some flight-sim junkies want to imagine themselves dogfighting with an F-16, afterburners screaming as they climb into the sky. But for virtual pilots less interested in white-knuckle air warfare, Mad Catz has unveiled a product line based on that ubiquitous trainer, the Cessna 172 Skyhawk. The company’s Saitek brand now offers a Yoke ($200), Trim Wheel ($50), and Rudder Pedals ($210), all officially licensed from the airplane manufacturer. Buy them all together and you’ll receive a free Flight Switch Panel, thereby completing your cockpit ensemble. Remember, though: you’re in this for the pure, majestic joy of simulated flight. It’s not a competition, so don’t let this guy and his $300,000 flight simulator get under your skin. Cool?

Klipsch’s AirPlay-enabled Gallery G-17 Air soundbar pleases ears sans cords for $530

No, that’s not some oversized Kinect KIRF. What you’re looking at is Klipsch’s latest soundbar, the Gallery G-17 Air. Seem familiar? If you’ll recall, back at CES it was known as the Gallery Studio — the smallest of three AirPlay-enabled speaker systems the company let us demo at CES. Although not totally new, its full specs have been revealed and its price re-vamped from $400 to a slightly spendier $530. The bi-amplified stereo rig features four individually powered drivers that aim to deliver full-range sound via two Tractrix-horned .75-inch tweeters (10 watts each), and dual 2.5-inch, 20 watt woofers. Although you’ll probably be streaming music over WiFi from iDevices or iTunes, the unit’s equipped with USB and 3.5mm inputs should you ever want to plug-in directly or juice-up your battery. There’s an ultra-svelte grill-cloth magnetically attached to the front, playback and power buttons on the side, and it also comes with a remote. The system itself sits atop a tempered glass base, but if space is at premium it can be mounted to a wall. The G-17 is set to release this fall, but if your ears are already tingling you’ll find more info in the source link below.
