Google Glass will reach consumer in 2014 says Google Co-Founder

We already knew that developers would get their hands on the Explorer Edition of Google Glass device in 6 months or so (for $1500), but Sergei Brin has confirmed to Bloomberg at Google IO that consumers would have to wait until 2014 until they can buy the new hip augmented reality device. Introduced as Google Project Glass, the glasses are an augmented reality module that display information on top of what the user sees (terminator-style). The goal is to have a near hands-free (there’s a trackpad) experience by using voice commands. Google glass can also record what the user sees. (more…)

Divorce Stress: 3 Ways To Deal

By Dr. Ann Gatty, Ph.D. This article first appeared on GalTime.com

No one has to tell you that going through a divorce can cause stress. Coping with it can be one of the most difficult life transitions that people experience. You wake up one morning and find that you are suddenly single and stressed.

When I divorced my spouse, I had to deal with the disruption and restructuring of my day-to-day living arrangements and develop a cohesive transition for my children. I also knew that in order to develop a sense of self-esteem and dodge the feeling of overwhelming stress, I needed to establish a new identity as an individual — not a partner in a couple relationship. It is easy to become overwhelmed, stressed, depressed and angry during the divorce. Here are three strategies I used to help me successfully navigate the transition.

Researchers Produce Temperature of 7.2 Trillion Degrees, Set “World’s Hottest” Record

It’s summer in Texas, and I’ve lived here my entire life. That means I know a thing or two about hot. A group of physicists at the Brookhaven National Laboratory has landed themselves in the Guinness Book of World Records for creating a temperature that makes a Texas summer sound like winter in the Arctic Circle.

The physicists created the highest man-made temperature in history at 7.2 trillion degrees Fahrenheit. The researchers were able to produce such a massive temperature only for a fraction of a second using the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider at the lab. The physicists sent gold ions flying in opposite directions around the 2.4-mile collider at a velocity near the speed of light.

The gold ions collided inside one of the six test chambers and the collision produced a substance known as quark-gluon plasma. This is described as a nearly frictionless liquid is about 250,000 times hotter than the core of the sun. It still feels hot here in Texas, regardless.

Pelosi-Boehner Picture Goes Viral (PHOTO)

As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words.

A few hours after the United States Supreme Court upheld most of President Barack Obama’s signature health care law as constitutional, a photo of House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) started making the rounds on Twitter.

While the photo was actually taken the day before the ruling, it just may capture how the two feel about the Supreme Court’s decision.

JVC unveils ADIXXION camcorder — the second X is for ‘xxtreme’

JVC unveils Adixxion camcorder the second 'x' is for 'xxtreme'

Sony’s not the only one looking to edge in on the action camera game ruled by the likes of GoPro and Contour. JVC this morning claims to have “upped the ante” with the GC-XA1 ADIXXION — and it’s a hard point to argue. Let’s look at the facts here: Sony’s Action Cam has zero Xs in its name and the GC-XA1 ADIXXION has three. Three! Also on-board is WiFi and a 1.5-inch LCD monitor. The camcorder can do HD video, five megapixel stills and has 5x digital zoom. It’s waterproof up to five meters, dustproof, freezeproof and can stand up to a fall of two meters — all without that extra plastic casing. When it hits in late summer, it’ll run you $350 — or about $117 per X.
