A Search Team May Have Finally Found Amelia Earhart After 75 Years [Amelia Earhart]

Seventy-five years after Amelia Earhart disappeared, people are still looking for her. In fact, just last month, a search team started a search expedition only to leave without discovering Amelia’s wreckage. Or so they thought. The team recently took a closer look at the underwater images they captured and now think they may have found her. More »

Maxthon web browser arrives in bite-sized form for iPhone

Maxthon web browser shrinks to iPhone size

Maxthon has long since escaped the days when it was chiefly a customized version of Internet Explorer on the desktop, and nowhere is that more apparent than its just-launched version of the normally WebKit-based browser for the iPhone and iPod touch. All the core features of the app carry over from earlier Android and iPad versions, such as an Opera-like grid of favorite pages, a download manager and a unified address bar, but it’s arguably more useful than the iPad edition: conventional browser tabs aren’t coming to smaller-screened iOS devices in a future mobile Safari build anytime soon. Bookmark syncing and an optimized reading mode also persist to reduce the chance that Maxthon users drift back towards the official Apple browser, even after iOS 6 rolls around. With that all-important “free” price tag, there’s every reason to give it a try — let others know in the comments if Maxthon is enough to take precedence over comparable iOS alternatives like Chrome.

Obama 2012 Campaign Helped By MoveOn.org, AFL-CIO Super PAC Alliance

WASHINGTON — Two of the top progressive groups in politics are teaming up for what their leaders say is a historic effort to aid President Barack Obama’s re-election campaign.

MoveOn.org Political Action, the 7 million-member liberal advocacy group, and Workers’ Voice, the super PAC arm of the 12 million-member labor union AFL-CIO, will announce on Tuesday morning a joint get out the vote venture for this and future campaigns.

“This is a major partnership,” said Michael Podhorzer, executive director of Workers’ Voice. “Our goal was to make this as broad a movement as possible and go well beyond the traditional union universe. This is a major step in that direction. … We are going to be contacting millions of people and we will see as this develops how potent this is. It hasn’t been done on this scale before by independent groups.”

Google to stop free accounts for Google Apps?

Do you think that Google is a generous company? After all, the Internet search giant did always enabled ordinary folks and users to have free access to Google Apps, their business-productivity product. In fact, you can have up to 10 users to own custom email addresses, calendars, contacts, Google Drive, team sites, and Google Docs in addition to being able to check out just what the Google Apps Marketplace has to offer.

Well, there is this particular rumor that I wish were not true – it seems that there are whispers going around that sometime at the end of this month, or perhaps in early September, Google will no longer offer free access for new accounts, meaning one would have to fork out a token sum even if you are running a small business. Just to be on the safe side, if you have always wondered about the viability of Google Apps in your business setup, tarry no longer. I sure hope that this is just an unsubstantiated rumor, that’s all.

Police say the alleged incident took place in March at Hands of Our Future day care in Dover, Del. and surfaced this weekend when it was shown to a police officer, The News Journal reports.

In the video, a child is heard crying and yelling, “he’s pinching me,” to which a day care worker responds, “no pinching, only punching,” CBS Philly reports.

iPad mini manufactured at 4 million units per month (Rumor)

Apple logoThere is this latest rumor going around on an unconfirmed device – something that can only happen to the world’s most valuable company, of course, and we are talking about Apple and unsubstantiated rumors of the iPad mini, a smaller version of the iPad where analysts claim it will encroach on the territories of the Nexus 7 as well as the Kindle Fire. Well, the latest rumor concerning the iPad mini prior to its alleged October launch is this – manufacturers will ramp up production of the iPad mini in September to 4 million units each month, so that Apple will be able to have adequate supply of the iPad mini during the upcoming holiday season which has traditionally proven to be exclusive.

What do you think about rumors of a yet unconfirmed device? It is somewhat like the Emperor’s new clothes on the invisible man, but I think when it comes to Apple products, this one holds more water.

Doctor Burnout: How Common Is It?

Nearly half of doctors have at least one sign of burnout, and they are also more likely to be burned out from their work than people in other professions, according to a new study.

Researchers from the Mayo Clinic found that 45.8 percent of doctors have experienced at least one symptom of burnout. Their findings are based on a survey of 7,288 doctors, and 3,442 non-doctor working adults in the U.S., and are published in the journal Archives of Internal Medicine.

Specifically, 37.9 percent of doctors report being extremely emotionally exhausted and 29.4 percent report having “high depersonalization.” Depersonalization occurs when you feel like your real life is a dream, and you’re just watching yourself as you go through your daily actions, according to the Mayo Clinic.

Sony NEX-5R and NEX-6 images leaked

Earlier this morning, there was this particular rumor that went around, touting that Sony might just roll out a full frame NEX camera – but here we are with leaked images of the Sony NEX-5R and NEX-6, now how about that? These images came courtesy of Chinese site VR-Zone, and while the images have yet to be verified, they are certainly quite close to the real deal if you were to take it with a grain of salt, and it does seem as though Sony’s design team have managed to wade into a slightly different territory – with a more adventurous spirit, of course.

The NEX-5R has been touted to continue from where the Sony NEX-5N left off, figuring out a somewhat similar basic form factor albeit with the addition of a dial up top, not to mention a Fn button that does resemble the one which you can see on the NEX-7. Chances are the increase in physical controls will thrill budding enthusiasts, and when you couple that with rumors of a new 16-megapixel sensor underneath the hood, you might have a winner here.

Michael Moore, Oliver Stone Back Julian Assange In NYT Op-Ed

In a joint op-ed in the New York Times, filmmakers Michael Moore and Oliver Stone hailed WikiLeaks chief Julian Assange and said he is being persecuted by the United States.

Assange has been holed up in the embassy since June, when he took sanctuary there to avoid extradition to Sweden. He is wanted in that country to face arrest and questioning over allegations of sexual assault, but has said he thinks he could be transfered to the United States, where he could stand trial for leaking classified information through WikiLeaks. Last week, he was formally granted political asylum by Ecuador, but the British government refused to recognize it and warned that he would not be given safe passage to leave the country. The UK also dangled the possibility that it could forcibly enter the Ecuadorean embassy to arrest him.

On Sunday, Assange appeared on the balcony of the embassy and said that he was the victim of an American “witch hunt.”
