We’re in Berlin this week at IFA 2012 having a look at the Liquid Image EGO HD – a high definition mountable camera ready to take on the competition with both 12 megapixel photos and 1080p video capture. This device is also able to record video at HD 720p at 60 frames per second if you wish, all of it being stored on a 4GB microSDHC card that fits in the device – and comes with the unit as well, right in the box. You’ll be able to attach this device to basically anything you’ve got with a collection of mounts available from Liquid Image as well – it’s diverse!
This device has the ability to carry up to a 32GB microSDHC card and works with a rechargeable battery rated at 1.5-2 hours of HD video. The unit you buy standard comes with a tripod mount as well as a multi-directional mounting system with a quick release lever so you’ll be able to detach it easily. You’ll be able to attach this camera to your helmet, goggles, a variety of vehicles, and dunk it underwater with a specially fitted waterproof housing.

Give your HTC EVO 4G LTE a quick update scan if you haven’t lately. Sprint has started pushing out an upgrade that brings its flagship phone both to Android 4.0.4 and to Sense 4.1, putting the EVO’s software on a par with the just-unveiled Desire X. Patching up doesn’t bring a revolution in features — you’ll mostly notice the known option to change the multitasking button’s functionality and hide the on-screen menu key. However, there’s a lot of Sprint-specific fixes that make the update worthwhile, such as an LTE “scanning improvement” that some owners suggest is improving their overall cellular data quality. If you already have the update, let fellow readers know how well it’s working for you in the comments.
Atari has decided that it’s time to give some of its classic games a fresh coat paint, launching the new Atari Arcade. Eight of Atari’s classic games have been updated using HTML5 and are playable in your browser for free. That’s not the end of it though, as Atari has also teamed up with Microsoft to bring these games to Windows 8 tablets.
Though these games can be played in your browser, it seems that Atari is attempting to make the Windows 8 version of Atari Arcade really stick out. The arcade was built with Internet Explorer 10′s touch-based interface in mind, and the legendary Nolan Bushnell says that Microsoft was a “natural partner” for a project like this. While the announcement of these remakes is cool enough, there’s even more: developers can make games for Atari Arcade, and can earn money by displaying ads in their games or by offering in-game purchases.
It’s definitely nice to see classic Atari games Combat, Pong, and Asteroids get updated visuals, but the idea of another developer-friendly platform is even more exciting. Naturally, since Atari Arcade just launched, there aren’t any indie dev-made games available yet, but hopefully those are coming soon. The brains behind this project have come together to give users a behind-the-scenes look at Atari Arcade, which you can check out below.
In all, there are 8 games that can be played in the Atari Arcade right this very minute: Pong, Asteroids, Yar’s Revenge, Combat, Missle Command, Lunar Lander, Centipede, and Super Breakout. With Windows 8 just around the corner and a slew of new Windows 8 tablets announced at IFA 2012 this week, expect to hear more about Atari Arcade soon. In the meantime, you can always head over to the Arcade and play these games in your browser. Stay tuned.

It seems a little counter-intuitive for a product that’s designed to promote healthy snacking, but Philips has updated its AirFryer cooker with the XL model that boasts 50 percent more capacity and 30 percent faster cook times—encouraging users to gorge themselves even more. But whipping up a batch of crispy fries or potato chips still only requires about 80 percent less fat than regular deep frying methods—so in the long run your heart still wins. More »
PayPal’s been keeping itself quite occupied in the most recent months, with its newfangled Discover partnership and Card.io acquisition being at the forefront of it all. Today, however, it’s something aimed at the Android crowd: the Google-approved application’s hit a novel numerical version. So, what’s new exactly? Most notably, there’s a complete user interface facelift, which, according to PayPal, vastly improves the overall design and navigation within the app — not to mention, it’s taken on darker-colored theme. In addition to the fresh UI, the eBay-owned service now makes it easier to scan payment cards while on the go, as well as giving users an improved overview of their available, pending and total balance. Now, if only this took care of all those famed frozen account woes, we’d be all set.
You might scoff at spending almost seventeen grand on a relatively boring watch that’s crafted from a chunk of rock brought down from Everest’s summit. But when you consider an expedition up the world’s tallest mountain can cost as much as $83,000, this timepiece actually becomes a slightly more affordable way to visit the top of the world. Kind of. Kids these days just can’t keep their grubby hands off smartphones and tablets. Once they see the big shiny screen, it’s over. Boogers wiped on your home button, drool trail on the display—it ain’t pretty. But what’s worse is if they accidentally tap into your phone’s personal information: private pictures, salacious text messages, big giant curse words and other awful adult things you do during your alone time. That’s why every phone should have this upcoming feature in Windows Phone 8: Kid’s Corner. More »
See those silver stripes around the circumference of this Parrot AR drone? They’re not there for decoration or style. They’re actually strips of aluminum tape that’s wired into a capacitor from a disposable camera’s flash. Which means that when—not if—this drone bumps into someone, they’re going to get a particularly unpleasant shock as you can see what happened to its creator’s arm. More »
