Despite being the world second Android based camera, Sorry Samsung but Nikon bit you to it, the GALAXY Camera still win our heart! Indeed, unlike the Coolpix S800c, the GALAXY Camera runs on Android 4.1 instead of Android 2.3.3 the actual Android flavored installed on the Coolpix S800c. Is this the only difference? Hell No! The Galaxy Camera is in fact the real fusion between a Smartphone and a Camera and will be available in 3G + WiFi or 4G LTE + WiFi and will come with a nice 4.8″ 720p …
PS Vita‘s latest firmware update – 1.80 – may bring PSOne Classics with it, but it’s also secretly added a new “feature” that’s bound to make some Vita owners angry. PS Vita’s update to 1.80 locks memory cards to one PSN account, meaning that your days of using multiple PSN accounts on PS Vita are over. That is, unless you want to purchase a separate memory card for each of your accounts.
Of course, the problem with that is Sony‘s proprietary memory cards are pretty expensive, with a 4GB card costing around $20 at most places. Most PS Vita owners don’t use multiple PSN accounts on their Vitas, and in fairness, it’s already an ordeal to switch between PSN accounts on the handheld, but here’s the kicker: since Sony didn’t say anything about this lock down when 1.80 was released, a number of those who did use multiple PSN accounts are now locked out of some of their saves. That’s a pretty big problem, and it’s understandable why these gamers would be upset.
There is a way to transfer your saves, however, but it requires that you have multiple cards on hand. Folks on NeoGAF are pointing out that PS Vita owners can transfer their save data from one PSN account onto a PS3 and then move it to another memory card. It’s a hassle, but if you’re someone who frequently switches between regions when playing PS Vita, it’s a lot better than losing access to a portion of your content.
As for this move by Sony, it’s safe to say that it has a lot of gamers upset. Sony hasn’t made a statement on the outrage, and probably won’t, considering this stealth implementation. Sorry to say it, PS Vita gamers, but it looks Sony just took away your ability to switch between the different versions of the PlayStation Network. Were you someone who was using multiple PSN accounts on your PS Vita, or are you not affected by this particularly ugly bullet point of firmware update 1.80?

Amazon Publishing inks deal with Ingram, opens e-book distribution to rivals
Posted in: Today's ChiliAmazon Publishing is continuing to broaden its distribution channels, as the New York-based imprint has formed a partnership with Ingram Content Group that will make the company’s e-books available to competitors such as Apple, Barnes & Noble and Kobo. As you may be aware, there’s some uneasy tension between the rivals, as Barnes & Noble has previously removed Amazon’s print editions from its retail shelves in response to the company’s former e-book exclusivity in the Kindle Store. It remains unknown whether any of the competitors will indeed choose to sell Amazon’s content in electronic form. It’s also worth pointing out that because deal applies only to Amazon Publishing’s New York-based imprint, the company’s west coast division is excluded from the distribution deal. Regardless of how things shake out, it’s encouraging to see Amazon extend the olive branch — now let’s hope the competition reciprocates.

Square Enix Coreonline offers top-tier games on the web for free — if you feed the ad meter
Posted in: Today's ChiliIt’s not hard to see that offering high-quality games through the cloud has its pitfalls, not the least of which is getting customers to pay. Square Enix may have licked that last problem through its new Coreonline web gaming service. Players can still pony up for the full-priced games or even single levels if they want unfettered access, but the cleverness comes through Coreonline’s parking meter approach to ad-supported free play: the more ads you watch and the longer they run, the longer you’ll get to play without spending a single coin. As our colleagues at Joystiq found out, however, the current level of OS support is inconsistent. Windows gamers can use Chrome, Firefox or Internet Explorer to start playing, but their Mac-owning friends have to lean on Chrome for some games and can’t even consider running the marquee title, Hitman: Blood Money. Square Enix’s library of eligible games will start expanding in October; while there’s no guarantee the Final Fantasy series or many other dream games will make it to the roster, Coreonline’s approach might just be viable enough to spare us a few raids on the bargain bins.

It’s IFA week, which means that we had a lot of news flooding out of Germany. Let’s get to it, shall we? Samsung and Sony both had a ton of big reveals today, and all of the coverage you could ever hope for is collected in our Samsung IFA 2012 Wrap-Up and our Sony IFA 2012 Wrap-Up. In those posts, you’ll find links to all of the major reveals and announcements both companies made today, as well links to our hands-on posts with the day’s major devices. Be sure to check those out if you’re looking for a recap of the news from Samsung and Sony’s events.
The was still some news coming out of IFA that didn’t concern Samsung or Sony, however. ASUS, for instance, revealed the Vivo Tab and the Vivo Tab RT alongside its new MX279H and MX239H monitors. Toshiba also had a reveal of its own, pulling the veil off the slide-out Satellite U925t Ultrabook, and later in the day, Epic Games and NVIDIA teamed up to announce that they’re bringing Unreal Engine 3 to Windows RT and Windows 8.
TiVo’s new Stream transcoder is arriving next week, and Logitech UE announced a new line of products aimed at those who like to listen to music on the go. Today we got yet another image of the Motorola Droid RAZR M 4G LTE, while Google is now offering a Jelly Bean update for the Verizon Galaxy Nexus. Speaking of Google, it appears that the company wants to sell off Motorola’s Home Business division, and today it rolled out a handful of new Google+ features for businesses to take advantage of. Today President Barack Obama took to Reddit to answer questions from citizens, managing to bring the website down in the process, and Apple’s requested ban on Samsung devices has been pushed back to December.
YouTube has updated its app for Xbox 360, ARCHOS announced its new GamePad today, and Netgear announced the new N750 wireless router and gaming Wi-Fi adapter today as well. Current whispers are telling us that Windows Phone 8 will be launching on October 29, while Vimeo announced a new team up with Dropbox. Bethesda says that the PS3 delay of Dawnguard wasn’t caused by its development on Hearthfire, and the Curisoity rover’s transmission of will.i.am’s “Reach for the Stars” from the surface of Mars went off without a hitch. SkyDive is now available on Android, and finally tonight, Joss Whedon is apparently working on a ABC pilot called S.H.I.E.L.D. – we don’t need to tell you Marvel fans why that’s exciting.
Enjoy the rest of your evening folks, and be sure to keep an ear to SlashGear for more from IFA 2012!

Google Now update brings public safety alerts, lets sports fans manually pick teams and adds movie listings
Posted in: Today's ChiliIf you’re sporting Android 4.1 Jelly Bean then one of its most notable features just got better, as an update for the Google Search update is enhancing Google Now (still getting adjusted? check the guide book for a list of commands) functionality in a few key ways. The new version brings public alerts to your Now page, with emergency messages like storm warnings or earthquake alerts, so if you’re in range of Hurricane Isaac, it may be worth grabbing sooner rather than later. A more trivial change lets sports fans manually select their favorite teams from 140 pro soccer, baseball, basketball and hockey clubs — we tried to find our college favorites and were denied, for now. While trying to automatically decipher our preferred squads from searches is nice, it might not be practical when we’re just looking up information on our fantasy football players so this should be a help.
It has also added support for movie listings as seen above. Search for a flick that’s in theaters and you will not only receive relevant information, but also when and where it’s playing in your area. If that’s not enough, it can be set to pop up on your “movie days” or when you just happen to be loitering outside a theater. Finally, in a move that should please many prospective Galaxy Note II owners it is ready to work in Korea — grab the new version of the app at the link below.

Vimeo adds advanced uploading features, custom thumbnails and Dropbox integration
Posted in: Today's ChiliLast we heard, Vimeo was the one being integrated into a couple of Microsoft’s photo and movie-making products, but now it’s the video giant announcing a service integration of its own. Of course, as you can see above, we’re talking about the recently announced Dropbox synthesis — which will allow Vimeo users to upload vid content straight from the cloud locker behemoth, as well as save all original files to their account. Furthermore, Vimeo’s also added new advanced uploading features that essentially allow uploads to be resumed, plus the ability to choose any frame and set it as a thumbnail — a nice addition to those soundtrack tools from earlier this year. You can give these a try yourself now; in the meantime, however, we recommend checking out Vimeo’s fresh feature-touting visuals after the break.
