In silence, our world opens to this goldenness, what is life giving and true. A silent retreat is free time where simple being and inner stillness conspire to light up our minds with the light of our soul.

Richie had truly “seen” Sharon — her vulnerability and spirit, and he’d expressed his care by mirroring her goodness. It took another year and a half for her to tell him what those gifts had meant to her, and to apologize. But because he hadn’t given up on her, a thaw had begun.

‘Raising Hope’ Wedding: Jimmy And Sabrina Tie The Knot, Burt And Virginia Are On Damage Control (VIDEO)
Posted in: Today's ChiliWith a very blatant nod to the filming style of “Modern Family,” it was time for Jimmy and Sabrina’s wedding on “Raising Hope.” Sabrina’s family hooked them up with the cameras to film the episode like this in lieu of actually coming to the wedding. What the cameras captures was that it wasn’t the perfect day the happy couple thought it was, thanks to a lot of hard work on the parts of Burt and Virginia.
Jimmy and Sabrina had no idea that Reverend Bob refused to do the wedding because of some old beef with Maw Maw, or that Hope’s serial killer mother, Lucy, had survived yet again and was determined to ruin the day. Burt got some help from Lucy’s father in wrangling the psychotic woman and getting her sent back home. While she didn’t “die” this time around, Burt spoke for the show in saying it’s getting a little old having her show up every year to try and destroy something.
In the end, though, the couple had a nearly flawless wedding — though they did have to have the reception before the ceremony. The most important thing was that they got hitched. But Burt and Virginia didn’t want the couple to ever know how their day was almost ruined.

Acer Has Plans For Budget Tablets
Posted in: Today's ChiliAt the recently concluded CES 2013 in Las Vegas, Nevada, we did hear that Acer announced their Iconia B1 Android tablet which you can see on the right. The thing is, the Iconia B1 did not really come with the kind of hardware specifications that would make it a serious contender in the small form factor tablet market, but then again we could not complain too much with a $150 price point. It seems that the Iconia B1 is just Acer’s precursor when it comes to the low-cost tablet market, as an Acer executive dropped hints that there will be upcoming pocket-friendly eight-inch and ten-inch tablets.
The Taiwanese company is aiming for a $200 launch price thereabouts for the 8-inch tablet, while the 10-inch model will be a wee bit more expensive at just $250, which are pretty admirable targets, although we do wonder just what kind of hardware will be thrown into the mix. Oh yeah, perhaps having a quad-core processor at the very minimum would be ideal to kick things off on the right footing, no?

Caleb Moore Condition: Family Of Snowmobiler Not Hopeful For Survival After Winter X Games Crash
Posted in: Today's ChiliDENVER — Snowmobiler Caleb Moore was in critical condition Tuesday in a Colorado hospital after a dramatic crash at the Winter X Games in Aspen, and a relative said the family wasn’t hopeful about the 25-year-old’s chances for survival.
Moore was performing a flip Thursday when he clipped the top of a jump and went over the handlebars and landed face first into the snow. The snowmobile rolled over him, but he walked off with help and went to a hospital with a concussion.
Since Olympus’ tough and rugged digital cameras have picked up their fair share of accolades in the past, it would make plenty of sense to focus on the next generation of shooters that have hopefully been built like a tank, capable of handling far more abuse than your average consumer class digital camera. The Olympus Stylus TG-830 Tough is one of them, where it will miss the Valentine’s Day deadline as it will go on sale only from end of February, 2013.
Being waterproof to depths of up to 10 meters, this is the ideal digital shooter for you to to bring along on your snorkeling trips, as long as you don’t remain underwater for over 30 minutes at a time. If you feel that you are a klutz, then the Olympus Stylus TG-830 Tough should be perfect, since it can handle drops from 2.1 meters in height, and it works even in temperatures of up to -10°C. The 16-megapixel Olympus Stylus TG-830 Tough does seem to be a decent purchase when you weigh up its hardiness overall. [Press Release]

Tara Stiles: Totally Enlightened!
Posted in: Today's Chili I wrote this as a short film about 10 years ago when I moved to NYC and started dipping my toes in all the different yoga and spiritual communities that were hanging around, and I observed quite a few comedic moments in the process.

It is me, or have all the digital camera manufacturers banded together to make an announcement of their new shooters on the same day? I guess this would certainly be a gentleman’s agreement, as “may the best digital camera win” idea would work only when everyone rolls out their devices on the same day itself. Olympus has had a long history with tough digital cameras, and they continue in this tradition with the Olympus Stylus TG-2 Tough.
You will be able to find just about all sorts of “proof” to accompany the TG-2 Tough, where it is waterproof, shockproof, and freezeproof, while sporting a high-speed f2.0 lens, GPS support, and iHS Technology, hitting the markets from February 8th onwards in a design that will make your heart skip a beat or two.
Being waterproof means it can handle depths of up to 15 meters, and shrugs off drops and shocks from 2.1 meter, and will be able to work in sub-zero temperatures of up to -10°C. Oh yeah, did we mention that it is crushproof as well, being able to withstand a weight of up to 100kg on it without faltering? [Press Release]

As promised, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City has arrived over at the PlayStation Store as a download, where it will cost you $9.99 which will fall under the PS2 Classics collection. I am quite sure that those who will download it, the majority of them would have completed the game in the past on their PS2, and would want to take a romp down memory lane. In fact, the folks over at Sony were nice enough to create a map which originally packed in the game box available as a high resolution JPEG file for you to print out, simply because this is a digital format of the game. I am quite sure that after printing out this map, you would find it handy should you get lost in Little Havana.
Apart from that, those who are perfectionists might want to check out maps for GTA3 and San Andreas, as both of them can be downloaded from the PS Store to boot. This is truly an experience for you to rediscover your love for the franchise ten years back, and it will prove to the masses whether this game is able to stand the test of time or not.

Smartphone cameras have come a long way in a relatively short period of time, progressing from sub-1-megapixel sensors incapable of taking images in anything but the brightest locations to modern sensors that are challenging the point-and-shoot camera market. Earlier today, a patent filing from Google cropped up showing a multi-flash camera model for smartphones, an intriguing idea that may never see the light of day.
Despite the improvements in mobile phone cameras, inadequate lighting is still a common issue and one of the reasons photographs end up dim and grainy. Google’s patent filing would seem to be a partial solution to that issue with multiple flash lights on a phone. Depending on the external lighting situation, one flash or multiple flashes would be utilized by the phone.
One of the sketches gives us a good idea of what Google is up to, showing multiple flash bulbs that can be re-positioned via tracking in the back of the phone. Another image shows a different design with the flashes stationary. The flashes that are mobile are nestled in different designs, with one being circular in nature and the other resembling the π symbol.
Not only would multiple flashes increase the overall lighting, but it would also provide better lighting in individual environments and help eliminate shadows by adjusting which lights go off. Another use indicated for the multi-flashes is HDR photography, with the flashes being used to simulate different exposures, which would then be stitched together. Of course, as with all patents, this might never come to fruition, but it is an interesting concept nonetheless.
