PlayStation 4 DualShock 4 Controller Gets Highlighted In New Video

Even though Sony revealed its PlayStation 4 earlier this year, there are still a lot of questions gamers have regarding the console, one of which is what exactly will it look like. Since Sony isn’t prepared to unveil its PlayStation 4 yet, the company has been slowly but surely releasing additional information regarding its new DualShock 4 controller. A new video published by Sony takes another look at its upcoming controller.

The new video features a number of well-known Sony developers as they describe the DualShock 4, its new features and its overall feel. The developers talk about the DualShock 4′s light bar and its multiple functions, one of which is knowing where the players are at all times, even going as far as changing the position of a split-screen game to adjust to players changing their position. The touchpad, speaker and share button all get their own time during the video which helps in explaining what each does and how developers plan to utilize these features in their games.

Iron Man 3 mobile game capitalizes on pre-movie hype

Gameloft has been teasing its Iron Man 3 game for a few weeks now by releasing a couple of trailers showing off some of the new features. However, the game is now available for your disposal, and it comes just one week before the theatrical release of the movie with the same name, which is set for May 3.

The game features an endless-runner aspect, where you fly through the sky defeating various enemies while trying not to get yourself killed. You’ll take on four villains from the Iron Man comic book series, including Crimson Dynamo, Ezekiel Stane, Living Laser, and M.O.D.O.K., all of which will provide a bit of challenge in order to get to the next round.

Your character (Tony Stark) will also be responsible for running Stark Industries and you’ll be able to research and develop up to 18 Iron Man suits that you can wear and fly around in. The game also offers three different locations to keep you occupied, which include Malibu Shores, New York City, and China.

The game is free and is available now for both iOS and Android, but you’ll also be able to spend money on weapon upgrades, as well as special tricks and “HP”. These come in the form of in-app purchases, so while the game is free, you’ll ultimately have to pay money if you want to get through the game quicker.

New Chrome Beta extension from Google lets you view Office files directly in the browser

New Chrome Beta extension from Google lets you view Office files directly in the browser

One of the more unique features of Google’s web browser for Chromebooks has been the ability to open and view Microsoft Office files directly in the browser (as opposed to pushing them to Drive), but that’s so far remained confined to those devices. Google’s decided to change that today, though, releasing a new extension for Chrome Beta that allows the same functionality in the browser for Windows and Mac. There’s no indication yet as to when it will make it to the stable release of Chrome, but beta users can install the extension now at the source link below.

Hear Alexander Graham Bells Voice From An 1885 Recording

Alexander Graham Bell is one inventor whose impact is still felt to this day as the invention of the telephone made it possible to communicate with people around the world instantly by using our voices. Nowadays, cell phones are used as more than just a mobile telephone as we can communicate with others in a number of ways, but without the telephone, who knows how the cellular phone and smartphones would have shaped up to be. So when we heard you can now listen to what Bell may have sounded like when he made his historic first call, we let our ears enjoy the sweet sounds of the 19th century immediately.

Researchers have been able to use 3D scanning in order to read recordings from old wax cylinders, which Bell used in a number of instances. The results of which found a recording from 1885 that contains his voice where we can hear him say, “Hear my voice – Alexander Graham Bell.” Sure – it isn’t an impressive message, but when you realize you’re hearing the voice of the inventor of the telephone back when it was recorded in 1885, then we defy you to not have your mind completely blown.

A Slo-Mo Mouse Eye View of a Barn Owl Swooping In For the Kill Is Terrifying

Given you rarely see owls in the day outside of a zoo or museum setting, you’ve probably never thought of them as stone cold killers. But when hunting at night they can be as terrifying as a hawk, particularly if you happen to see them swooping in from a mouse’s point of view. More »

NYC subway wireless goes live in 30 stations, Sprint and Verizon signing on soon (updated)

NYC subway wireless goes live in 30 stations, Sprint and Verizon signing on soon

Wireless access in New York City’s subway system has so far been limited, at best: two GSM carriers, one WiFi provider and six stations does not a full network make. Coverage is getting much wider, however, as Transit Wireless just flicked on access in 30 extra stations. While cellular service with this batch is still limited to AT&T and T-Mobile for now, it reaches a much wider swath of Manhattan that includes Times Square, Rockefeller Center and the Museum of Natural History. Those on CDMA carriers also won’t be left hanging for long — both Sprint and Verizon have nearly finished making deals to join the project, with Sprint aiming for service later this year. Although the deployment still leaves big holes in carrier support and geographic reach, it’s a big leap for travelers with an urge to stay online while underground.

Update: Verizon now tells us that it’s also aiming for service by the end of the year.
