Looking back, I really feel as though people don’t give Nintendo enough credit. Although the organization may not be the industry titan it was in its glory days, it still stands among the most powerful, beloved, and renowned organizations in video games. Nintendo’s cultural significance – both now and in the past – simply cannot be denied.
While there are many futuristic uses for the heads-up display in Google Glass, several people I’ve met who were wearing them used them primarily to capture images and videos from their personal point of view. So if you don’t want to spend $1500 on a pair of real Google Glasses, you can get the camera part for less than 1/10th that cost.
Made by Japan’s Thanko, the Mitanmanma Megane HD Camera Glasses(JP) are designed so you can capture POV video on the cheap. Just place the glasses over your eyes, press the button, and start capturing video to a microSD card. Unlike Google Glass, however, that’s all these glasses do. If you start asking them where the nearest Starbucks is, you’ll be waiting a very long time for an answer. They don’t capture still images, and they won’t make appointments for you either.
Unlike other video glasses, these ones are quite minimal, weighing in at just 2.1 ounces (though a regular pair of sunglasses weighs about 1/4 of this). Also, they can’t be worn over other eyeglasses like Google Glass. They’re capable of capturing a (suspect) 1920×1080 resolution AVI format video at 20 to 30fps. They’re supposed to run for about 30 to 40 minutes on a charge. Here’s some craptacular sample video so you can check out the image quality:
I’m not sure if the frame rate gets any better than that, so they look like they’d be good for capturing animated GIFs and Vines more than full-motion video. Still, what do you want for a hundred bucks? You can get a pair of the Thanko Mitamanma Megane HD Camera Glasses from Japan Trend Shop for $112(USD) plus $12 for worldwide shipping.

Almost the perfect golfing buddy.
(Credit: European Tour/YouTube screenshot by Chris Matyszczyk/CNET)
When a man called Jeff asks you to join him for a game of golf, you might agree.
However, when a robot called Jeff wants to accompany you to your local links, you’d better be prepared for losing a couple of links in the chain to your perfect swing and your mental equilibrium.
For Jeff the robot is a trash-talking, joyously mean-spirited golfing robot with a very well-honed swing.
Here, in an ad for the European Tour, he teases two-time major champion Rory McIroy about his vast new Nike contract, as well as trying to put off his human adversary by remotely moving a target.
Jeff also confesses to his sexual attraction toward certain kinds of washing machines.
Sometimes, it’s very hard to find the right golfing partner.

Zaki Hasan: INTERVIEW: Director Paul Feig on The Heat, Bridesmaids, and Freaks and Geeks
Posted in: Today's ChiliAs an actor, Paul Feig has appeared on shows as diverse The Facts of Life, The Drew Carey Show, and Sabrina, the Teenage Witch. As creator of the short-lived, much-loved NBC series Freaks and Geeks, he helped launch the careers of such current comedy icons as Seth Rogen, Jason Segal, and James Franco. As a director, he helped 2011’s Oscar-nominated comedy smash Bridesmaids, which should have firmly put to bed the antiquated notion that women can’t be funny.
I guess what I’m saying is that after this many years in the trenches, Paul Feig knows his way around the serious business of being funny. His latest project is The Heat, now in theaters, re-teaming him with Bridesmaids alum (and Oscar-nominee) Melissa McCarthy alongside Sandra Bullock. I recently had the opportunity to participate in a panel interview with the director about the film, his two stars, and other lessons he’s learned from his time in the industry. Here’s the transcript:
Given all of your television experiences that you’ve done, both as an actor and filming some great television series, how has that formed your work as a director – a feature film director?
One of us, a straight African American woman, is a parish minister in New York City. The other is a lesbian white woman who ministers from Minneapolis. Both of us are allies in the larger struggle for justice in a profoundly unjust world. Today, we find ourselves needing to speak with one voice.
