What kind of society abandons its own young? What kind of society allows the generations in power to favor themselves over those who follow them, and then lets them claim they’re doing it out of selflessness?
Look around you.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — A baseball-themed exhibit built entirely from Legos is attracting adults and children to the Louisville Slugger Factory and Museum.
The exhibit occupies a large space inside the museum and is filled with baseball-themed art, including a 58,000-piece model of Wrigley Field, home of the Chicago Cubs.
There are also portraits of famous major league players built out of Legos, and a model of Milwaukee’s Miller Park with a retractable roof.
We’ve seen NASA‘s Mars Curiosity rover bore into Martian rock with a small drill multiple times, but the robot has just taken things to the next level: lasers. Specifically, the rover got to bore a small hole into Martian rock by blasting it with a laser repeatedly, causing a hole a few millimeters in diameter,
‘Mortal Instruments: City of Bones’ New Trailer: Lily Collins Learns About ‘Shadowhunters’ In Latest Movie Teaser (VIDEO)
Posted in: Today's ChiliThough we remain skeptical of anyone saying that Lily Collins is about to become “the next Jennifer Lawrence,” we will say this: The new trailer for “The Mortal Instruments: City Of Bones” is actually pretty awesome.
Lily Collins carries the movie as Clary Fray, a teen who discovers she is half-angel and can see between two worlds. This makes her part of a special group of warriors called “Shadowhunters,” who protect the human world from demons. The new trailer, above, shows a darker side to the film than the first trailer, as well as the faces of a few new characters (oh hey, Jonathan Rhys-Meyers).
If the teasers are any indication, the film does seem like it will fall closer to “Hunger Games” than “Twilight” on the YA book-to-movie-adaptation scale (Collins even wields a crossbow at one point). And if you need another reason to get behind it, the author of the book series also has some pretty cool things to say about the importance of diversity when casting the film.

WASHINGTON — Giving little relief to those skeptical of U.S. involvement in Syria’s civil war, President Barack Obama on Monday said he understands the dangers of mission creep and was determined to avoid them.
Obama, in a taped interview with PBS’s Charlie Rose, defended his decision to provide weaponry to Syrian rebels, saying it followed careful and comprehensive deliberation. His policy, he added, is meant to strike the right balance and is not open-ended.
It is very easy to slip-slide your way into deeper and deeper commitments because if it’s not working immediately, then what ends up happening is six months from now people say, ‘Well, you gave the heavy artillery. Now what we really need is X, and now what we really need is Y,’ because until Assad is defeated in this view, it’s never going to be enough, right? Now, on the other side there are folks who say, you know, ‘We are so scarred from Iraq. We should have learned our lesson. We should not have anything to do with it.’ Well, I reject that view as well because the fact of the matter is, is that we’ve got serious interests there, and not only humanitarian interests, we can’t have the situation of ongoing chaos in a major country that borders a country like Jordan, which in turn borders Israel.
When most of us hear the words “flatpack furniture,” we’re wracked with flashbacks of sitting amongst mountains of dowels and particle board, sobbing. But Ying Zhang and Ida Thonsgaard, two Berlin-based designers, are taking the concept beyond Ikea.
Matt Scherzer, Detroit Tigers Pitcher, Improves To 10-0 Start, Tigers Beat Baltimore Orioles 5-1
Posted in: Today's ChiliDETROIT — Max Scherzer has shrugged off the significance of his undefeated start, saying records are fluky statistics for pitchers and that he’s simply playing for a good team.
When the Detroit Tigers right-hander found out he is the first to accomplish a couple feats since Rogers Clemens and Pedro Martinez, though, it knocked Scherzer off his humble script.
