HTC might be making another push into the very affordable Android phone market with the Desire 200. As teased a few months back and joining the now-official Desire 600, the smartphone pulls together a 320 x 480 3.5-inch screen, 1GHz processor and Android 4.0. It sounds a whole lot like the UK-bound Vodafone Smart Mini, which has been priced at just £50 on pay-as-you-go. HTC does put in a little more effort, however, including its Sense UI, front-facing speakers like the HTC One and a 5-megapixel camera on the entry-level device. According to thegiodidong, the Desire 200 also houses 4GB of storage, expandable up to 32GB through microSD and the whole package will land in Asian markets soon. Update: According to the video, the loudspeaker resides on the back of the Desire 200. It looks like those front grills are largely for design reasons — we just wanted BoomSound a little too much…

In what Netflix says is its largest-ever deal for original content, it’s announced that Dreamworks Animation will provide “over 300 hours of new programming” based on both existing and incoming movies and franchises. Spanning all the territories where Netflix operates, the first series airs next year, following the previously announced spin-off series for Dreamworks’ incoming Turbo movie which debuts in December. Following the movie studio’s purchase of Classic Media earlier this year, Netflix also promises new content from a stable of characters that includes Where’s Waldo, Caspar and Fat Albert, although it hasn’t specified any new series for these just yet. Netflix will also show several Dreamworks Animation features in the coming years as part of their premium pay TV window deal, with The Croods, Turbo, and Mr. Peabody and Sherman all signed-up to appear on the streaming service in the future.

Pioneer is going to release 2 new AV amplifier models (SC-LX57, SC-2023) in late July.

They feature “Direct Energy HD Amp” that is capable of supplying high-revving power simultaneously while playing multiple channels so that they can play powerful sounds. They can play high-resolution sounds like WAV, FLAC, Apple loss-less, and AIFF and also play DSD file with a very high sound quality.

In particular, because of its new “Audio Scaler” functionality, “SC-LX57″ can upgrade all 2ch digital contents including CD and 96.kHz high-resolution sounds onto 192kHz/32bit and 176.4kHz/32bit. In addition to that, it has “SABRE 32bit Ultra DAC” manufactured by ESS Technology, Inc, which enables “SC-LX57″ to play rich bass sounds.

Both models are compatible with iPad/iPhone/iPod touch/iPod nano, MHL, HDMI terminal, AirPlay and wireless connection.

Samsung’s already doing a pretty good job selling its new flagship GS4, not to mention preparing a Google-fied stock version for the summer. There’s another variant now confirmed, however, with Samsung’s co-chief exec, JK Shin, telling Reuters today that a modified Galaxy S 4 will be the first smartphone to commercially launch on LTE-Advanced, the next step up from existing LTE. (Not forgetting that the new tech is already live in parts of Russia.) On the new radio technology, data speeds could theoretically double what you currently experience on a 4G signal. For Samsung’s new smartphone, this will involve using Qualcomm chips compatible with the next-gen networks, notably sidestepping its homemade Exynos silicon. “As operators seek to provide more data-centric mobile services, I think this will become mainstream 4G technology globally in the coming years,” Shin said, though he refused to name any specific networks that the new GS4 would eventually launch on.
