eyeSight software uses standard cameras to power 3D gesture controls (video)
Posted in: Today's ChiliTurning regular ol’ devices into motion-activated wonders is all the rage these days, and a company called eyeSight is determined to stand out from the pack. The brains behind eyeSight claim to have developed a purely software-based solution for equipping PCs, TVs and mobile devices with 3D gesture controls using existing standard cameras. It sounds like a pretty sweet deal, but it all comes down to whether or not eyeSight can deliver on its potential. If it can, then it could be a promising sign that gesture-controlled technology is on its way to becoming more accessible for budget-conscious consumers, since a software setup would negate the need for costly hardware. Currently, the platform is limited to developer SDKs, but you can watch an eyeSight-powered Google Earth demo after the break.

Microsoft’s demands for online connectivity for the Xbox One has divided opinion, and Xbox chief Don Mattrick probably isn’t helping by arguing that those unhappy should just stick with an Xbox 360. The Interactive Entertainment Business head told GameTrailers that for those who lack reliable connectivity, there’s still something they can play. “Fortunately, we have
‘America’s Got Talent’: Travis Pratt Stuns Judges, Proposes To Girlfriend On Stage (VIDEO)
Posted in: Today's ChiliWhen it comes to people who sing opera, “America’s Got Talent” is the place to go. There were two of them during this week’s audition rounds, and both of them came as surprises. But no one was as surprised as contestant Travis Pratt’s girlfriend. She was the one who convinced him to audition.
Travis blew the judges away with his operatic voice — and ridiculously high range. After hearing that it was his girlfriend who pushed him into doing this, Howie convinced her to go up on stage. She said they’d been together for five years. And then, Travis got down on one knee.
“I have loved you from the very first moment I laid eyes on you,” he told her. “Will you marry me?”

Xbox chief: we have a product for people who can’t get online, it’s called Xbox 360
Posted in: Today's ChiliDid you think the Xbox 360 was being kept around just for the budget market? It turns out Microsoft’s got another sort of customer in mind for the revamped last-gen hardware: the crews of nuclear submarines. Xbox chief Don Mattrick, in response to the backlash over the Xbox One requiring an internet connection, said that “fortunately, we have a product for people who aren’t able to get some form of connectivity, it’s called Xbox 360.” As an example, he referred to a crew member on a nuclear submarine, who would be better off with the 360, as it’s an “offline device.” The full quotes are after the break, along with the video — oh, and Sony’s message to submarine crews too.
