Pizzaghetti Sloche: Slurp Your Pizza and Drink Your Spaghetti

Pizza and spaghetti are probably two of the most popular junk food items that people both young and old enjoy. They’re not the healthiest things on the menu, but if you’re just looking for a quick bite to eat, then what’s quicker or easier to pick up than pizza or pasta?

It’s about to get even quicker albeit colder with Canadian convenience store chain Couche-Tard’s new offerings: Pizzaghetti Sloche, aka pizza and spaghetti slushies.

Pizzaghetti

If you barfed a little in your mouth at the thought of that, then you’re not alone. I honestly love pizza and spaghetti – the kind that you chew and swallow, not the kind you slurp – so I’m not sure what Couche-Tard was thinking with their newest slushy treat.

As you can see, each flavor has a different slush serve machine. The pizza sloche is on the left, while the spaghetti sloche is on the right. Taste them separately, mix both together…the choice is yours.

Not everything is as it seems though. Comments left by Redditors who had access to a Pizzaghetti sloche machine claim that the pizza slush tastes like strawberry, while the spaghetti slush tastes like lemon.

Does that bit make you more keen to try it… or did it leave you a bit disappointed?

Sony Xperia M and Xperia M Dual Announced

Sony Mobile has certainly come some way since they split up with Sony Ericsson, and the handsets which run on the Android operating system have proven themselves to be beautiful devices in their own right, and the functionality as well as user interface has improved by leaps and bounds. I know what I am talking about, since I do own a Sony Ericsson LIVE Walkman smartphone, which still runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread, and when I compare it to other newer devices from Sony Mobile like the Sony Xperia Z, those totally blow me out of the water. Having said that, Sony Mobile has just announced the Sony Xperia M for the masses, and it will also come in a dual SIM model, where it is aptly known as the Sony Xperia M Dual.

The all new Xperia M is said to feature Sony’s innovative one-touch functions, delivering effortless connectivity in a signature premium design without breaking the bank, hopefully. The Xperia M is said to have been designed to bring Sony experiences to a new market and price point – particularly one that is a whole lot more affordable. Despite what the economic data reads, not everyone is in the pink of financial health, and we are always on the lookout to get the best bang for our hard earned buck.

One-touch buttons deliver NFC connectivity with the Xperia M, and for those of you who are always hankering about the poor battery life on your smartphone, you will be pleased to hear that there is a new Battery STAMINA Mode on the Xperia M which is touted to deliver outstanding battery life throughout the day, never mind that you are an intensive smartphone user. Other hardware specifications include color-changing illuminations which can be personalized so that you have visual alerts to work with whenever you need to be in a quiet environment, a 4” FWVGA touchscreen display, and the smartphone will arrive in black, white and purple shades. There is no word on pricing, but it ought to hit the markets worldwide in the third quarter of the year.

Paranoid Android’s HALO does Chat Heads-inspired multitasking, goes open source

Paranoid Android's HALO does Chat Headsinspired mutitasking, goes open source

It’s been a couple months since we first saw the fruits of team Paranoid Android’s labor around in-app pop-up window multitasking, and it looks like Paul Henschel and co. are finally sharing the finished product. HALO, as it’s called, loosely combines the ideas behind Samsung’s Multi Window and FaceBook’s Chat Heads into a slick multitasking interface. The feature is activated from the notification tray. It places an icon — or halo — on the display, which can be moved around very much like Chat Heads, or dismissed by double-tapping and dragging it towards the red X at the top. Swiping sideways from the halo shows a series of white lines and text bubbles that match and highlight the notifications in the status bar. Releasing your finger is like tapping on the selected notification, but instead of launching full-screen, the app opens in a pop-up window on top of whatever’s already running, just like Multi Window. The background app continues to run while you interact with the foreground app — to dismiss the pop-up window, simply tap outside of it. Other cool functionality includes swiping up to dismiss the last notification and the ability to pin apps permanently to the halo. But what’s really most exciting is that team Paranoid Android‘s decided to make HALO open source so anyone can be involved. Check out the awesome demo video after the break.

MapQuest arrives for Windows Phone 8

MapQuest arrives for Windows Phone 8

Let’s be frank: most Windows Phone users already have some form of navigation on hand, whether it’s Nokia’s Here Drive+ beta or one of the alternatives. However, it rarely hurts to have a free choice like MapQuest’s new app for Windows Phone 8. The suite offers voiced, turn-by-turn directions for driving and walking, along with live traffic and the usual point-of-interest searching. The app is comparatively basic, and it’s only available in US English right now — but if it’s all you need to get from point A to point B, it’s available at the source link.
