Brinno TLC200 – Time Lapse Photography Fun!

I love photography, it’s a fabulous hobby. I can usually be found behind the lens, snapping shots of the goings on at almost every event or party. I’ve always wanted to dabble in time lapse photography and capture a snow storm or the changing of the leaves in the fall, but it always seemed to be just a little to0 difficult. I also wanted to do some claymation type stop-action films with my daughter, but for maximum fun, the easier the better.

So I’m checking out the Brinno TLC200 designed to make time lapse and stop-action photography fun and simple, the Brinno still packs some flexibility to change lenses and set appropriate time intervals to catch all the time lapse action that you want, and it has an optional shutter release to turn you into a professional stop-action film maker. It’s battery life is solid, with months of life, allowing you to capture up to 300,000 pics, or an entire season of changes, an important remodeling project, or maybe even the growth of your prize-winning pumpkin.

The Brinno has a color LCD preview screen allowing you to easily set your scenes, it can be mounted on a tripod, or just set on a flat surface, it also has a wide angle lens available if you wanted one for your specific application. The Brinno TLC200 uses 4xAA batteries and it stores all your shots on an SD card (supports up to 32GB). So no messing with your existing camera, no complicated set-ups, or specialized time controllers. Simply set your time, and press go. Get the Brinno, and let the fun begin. Right around 135 bucks at amazon.com.

Every Secret Agent Wannabe Needs a Quadcopter Belt of Death

You could probably argue there are worse offenders, but there’s no denying that James Bond’s Thunderball jetpack is definitely up there in the pantheon of ridiculous 00-gadgets. Tinkerer Rodger Cleye recently tried to put a more realistic spin on the concept, and the result is this still-ridiculous-but-fully-functioning quadcopter "belt."

X-Men Sentinel Stained Glass Window is Mag-Neato!

Relax mutants. That is not a real sentinel. You can go back to your schoolwork which Professor X is expecting in the morning. This awesome stained glass creation was made by Zero Wing Labs and it looks amazing.

sentinel
You have to love those comic book colors as the Sun shines through and the details throughout. It belongs in a bad guy mutant place of worship alongside Juggernaut and Toad and other villains. Forgive me father, it has been 10 years since my last mutant capture… Dear God, the pain! I’ll do better, I swear.

This thing looks like it came straight from the pages X-Men. Awesome glass pages.

Rhapsody debuts app for Windows 8 at Microsoft Build 2013

Today during Microsoft’s 2013 edition of Build, Rhapsody announced that it’s releasing a version of its music app designed for the Windows 8 operating system. As you might expect, the Win8 variant will bring many of the same features found on its iOS and Android counterparts, including the ability for subscribers to create playlists and stream / download songs from Rhapsody’s ample library of tunes. There will be some tidbits tailored specifically for Redmond’s OS, however, such as a Snap Mode for simple multitasking and an option that allows tracks to be pinned to the Metro-style home screen. The company told us the application will hit the Windows store shortly, so we’ll be sure to update this post as soon as we have a link to the download.

Update: Rhapsody’s Windows 8 app is now up for grabs via the Windows store, linked down below for your convenience.

Magnetic Microbots Perform Eye Surgery Without a Single Incision

Our eyeballs are some of our more delicate organs, and the mere thought of them having to be sliced open for surgery is unsettling. So researchers at the Multi-Scale Robotics Lab at ETH Zurich have created a magnetically-guided microbot, barely larger than a few human hairs, that can be embedded in the eye and externally controlled to perform delicate surgery without any part of the patient having to be sliced open.

Kickstarter plans North American expansion, launches in Canada this summer

Kickstarter plans North American expansion, launches in Canada this summer

That’s right Canucks, Kickstarter’s launching in your neck of the woods before the midnight sun sets for the season. The crowdfunding site released a teaser page today, announcing that it’ll open up to Canada-based projects later this summer. It’s not the first site of its kind to accept submissions from north of the border, but if Indiegogo hasn’t been drawing in the results you need, you’ll soon be able to give it a go on another platform. The Kickstarter team is mum on an exact launch date, but with a bit less than three months left in summer, the clock is ticking.
