Back in the old days, in James Bond movies as well as other films and TV shows, people always tricked their pursuers with a license plate that flipped to reveal another. Now you can own your very own license plate flipper.
You can buy one from License Plate Flipper. This unusual device allows you to have two license plates. Just push a button and it will rotate 180 degrees, changing one plate into another within 1.2 seconds.

While CNC routers are part-digital by their nature, they haven’t really kept up with the times: they’re often fixed in place and don’t easily adapt to unique tasks. ShopBot Tools hopes to modernize these machines by crowdfunding its Handibot Smart Tool. The device is portable and cuts 3D shapes out of many flat surfaces, but its specialty is the accessible, app-driven control that the fundraising will support. Builders can give the Handibot a wide range of instructions through apps on PCs or (eventually) mobile devices, whether they need a few simple holes or large, ornate patterns. Those pledging support will need to spend at least $1,995 to get a Handibot this September, assuming ShopBot reaches its $125,000 goal; still, it may be worth the cost for any workshop enthusiast who feels limited by existing tools.

Roughly a month after announcing its licensed character publishing platform, Amazon has taken the wraps off of Kindle Worlds. The site currently offers up 50-plus commissioned stories based on properties like The Vampire Diaries, Valiant Comics titles, and yes, Gossip Girl. Worlds’ Self-Service Submission Platform is open to the public as well, letting interested parties make some cash (up to 35-percent royalties) by putting their fan fiction up on the site. Aereo is planning to expand its streaming television service to a fourth city come September. Chicago will be the next city to take advantage of Aereo’s streaming broadcast TV plans starting on September 13. This comes after Aereo initially launched in New York, and spread to Boston and Atlanta within the past couple of months.
