Kindertransport Celebrates 75th Anniversary With Reunion (VIDEO)

It’s been 75 years since Kindertransport evacuated 10,000 children from Nazi territory to the safety of England in the eve of the second World War. To commemorate the occasion and the people who saved their lives, some of the 400 surviving members of Kindertransport convened in a Jewish school in London for a reunion last Sunday.

Some revelers were seeing each other for the first time in decades, and many had similar, harrowing tales to tell.

We said goodbye to our parents, who said they would see us for a happy reunion in a few weeks time,” Herman Hirschberger told BBC, “But that’s the last time we ever saw them.” Hirschberger was 11 when Kindertransport shuttled him to Great Britain.

Twitter wants to make a ‘DVR mode’ for live TV events, offer delayed Twitter streams

Social media is very much about keeping up with what’s happening right now — but not everybody consumes live media simultaneously. What happens when you watch a time-shifted sporting event four hours late, but still want to see what your peers had to say in the heat of the moment? Twitter CEO Dick Costolo has an idea: social media DVR. Speaking at a moderated panel at at the Center for Technology Innovation, Costolo envisioned a system that would allow users to jump back in time and look at a snapshot of the social network at a specific moment.

“It would be nice to see things like a graphic of spikes in the conversation,” he said. “And be able to scroll back to that time and see what happened at that particular moment.” The CEO continued to suggest that such a feature could be designed around planned events, describing it as “Twitter in a DVR mode.” Although it was suggested that these features are in testing, Costolo stopped short of saying if they were actually something users could expect to see soon. Naturally, we reached out to the company for further comment, but haven’t heard back just yet. Still, it’s at least clear that the company hasn’t abandoned its television-based ambitions.

Mark Sanchez Exposes Naked Butt, Dances Around With Two Women In Napa (NSFW VIDEO)

Several months after his “butt fumble” conquered the Internet, Mark Sanchez’s own backside is on display. Odds are, Sanchez will remember this latest incident more fondly, provided he can remember it.

In the video above, the New York Jets’ 26-year-old quarterback can be seen dropping his pants as he dances around with two women. One of those women, Alana Kari, began the circulation of dancing Sanchez footage on Tuesday by sharing a Vine on Twitter, purportedly of some fun in Napa. Described by Deadspin as “some kind of SoCal-based socialite,” Kari deleted the Vine after it began garnering widespread attention. According to NESN, Kari also tweeted pictures with Sanchez at a wine tasting, a fancy dinner and in a limo. Once that initial Vine was pulled, the brief video below (this one without a cameo from Sanchez’s bare butt) soon resurfaced on YouTube.

Wendy Davis: Rick Perry Has ‘Made A Mockery’ Of Texas’ Rules (VIDEO)

Less than 24 hours after an epic abortion bill filibuster propelled her into the national spotlight, Texas State Sen. Wendy Davis (D) went directly after Gov. Rick Perry (R) on national television.

Perry ordered the Texas State Legislature Wednesday to meet for another 30-day special session on a plan that would impose severe abortion restrictions, including the closure of nearly every clinic in the state. Part of Perry’s official statement cast Tuesday’s events as a “breakdown of decorum and decency to prevent us from doing what the people of this state hired us to do.”

In a Wednesday interview on MSNBC’s “All In With Chris Hayes,” Davis was asked to respond to Perry’s “decorum” remark. She struck back at the governor and Lt. Gov David Dewhurst, panning them as the ones who “led the charge” on the decorum breakdown.

Teens And Social Media: Young People Who Used The Internet To Do Major Good (VIDEO)

HuffPost Teen blogger Patrick Mott wrote in his latest post: “Our social networks can tell a story about us and, if you’re like me, you want to make sure that the story your Twitter or Facebook tells about you is a good story.”

Patrick was definitely on to something. According to a 2012 study, teens who use social media are more sympathetic to other people; about 55 percent of teens from the ages of 13 to 17 said that Facebook and Twitter opened their eyes to what others are experiencing.

And if anyone understands how to inspire others through their own personal experiences, it’s this list of teens. From challenging a major corporation, to promoting equality at school, to touching the hearts of thousands of strangers through song, these young people recently used the power of social media to change the world. Scroll down to read their incredible stories.

A Map of the World As Plotted By Airports

A Map of the World As Plotted By Airports

Instead of using your typical cartography methods of mapping the world, James Davenport created a world map using just airports, runways and helicopter pads. That way you can see which countries are dotted and outlined with airports (hint: it’s the rich ones) and which countries just disappear into the vapor (hint: it’s the poor ones).
