Google’s Sordid History of Net Neutrality Hypocrisy

Google's Sordid History of Net Neutrality Hypocrisy

Google is a company that’s long stood up for the principles of net neutrality, the idea that all packets of information on the internet should be treated equally. But now that it’s an internet service provider, the company’s changing its tune. It’s not the first time.

UK Government Might Ban Google Glass For Drivers

UK Government Might Ban Google Glass For DriversWhile I am quite sure that many of you out there do want to own a pair of Google Glass for yourself, do take note that this is not a device which will be able to be worn just about anywhere and everywhere you go. So far, we do know that it will not be allowed at the Caesar’s Palace casinos for obvious reasons, not to mention a Seattle dive bar dropping the banhammer on Google Glass earlier this year, too. In fact, a new West Virginia bill could result in the banning of Google Glass while driving, and that is certainly something which will resonate with the UK government.

According to a Department for Transport spokesperson as reported by Stuff, “We are aware of the impending rollout of Google Glass and are in discussion with the Police to ensure that individuals do not use this technology while driving. It is important that drivers give their full attention to the road when they are behind the wheel and do not behave in a way that stops them from observing what is happening on the road.”

It makes sense to us though, as you should pay utmost attention to the road while driving, and something like Google Glass could be an unwanted distraction.

New York’s Underground Moving Sidewalk That Never Was

New York's Underground Moving Sidewalk That Never Was

At the turn of the 20th century, the moving sidewalk was the future of urban transportation. As much as airplanes soaring in the sky and automobiles rumbling on the streets, the moving sidewalk represented a bold new vision for tomorrow. This idea of rolling pavement appealed to people in major cities who didn’t yet see the rise of the automobile as inevitable and were looking for an affordable alternative to more elaborate infrastructure like subway trains. The 1903 vision above, drawn by Sydney Adamson, was supposed to be the fulfillment of every forward-looking New Yorker’s dream.

Xiaomi Red Rice Smartphone Unveiled

Xiaomi Red Rice Smartphone UnveiledWe did bring you word that Xiaomi actually teased us with a potential device reveal a couple of days ago, and while many folks were betting their money on this particular device being the upcoming Xiaomi Mi3, we are rather downcast to say that this is not the case at all, as the Xiaomi Red Rice smartphone has been unveiled instead. Heck, the name Red Rice itself is not something which would endear itself to the masses for sure, but then again, considering how it seems to be a China-only device at this point in time, it might not matter that much.

The Xiaomi Red Rice will retail for just 799 yuan (which translates to roughly $130 after conversion). At that particular price point, the Red Rice delivers a quad-core MediaTek CPU underneath the hood, where it is accompanied by the likes of a 4.7” display at 720p resolution and 312 ppi with Gorilla Glass 2, 1GB RAM, 4GB of internal memory, support for China Mobile’s TD-SCDMA 3G, dual SIM and dual standby capability, an 8-megapixel shooter at the back, and of course, Xiaomi’s very own MIUI-flavored Android.

This .925 sterling silver ring is in the likeness of the Autobot leader’s head. It will cost you $91.15(USD) from Etsy seller Princeofdiamonds. That’s not nearly as expensive as a traditional wedding ring, but it’ll certainly make more of an impression than one of those.

Give this ring to your significant other and she will be yours for life. Then settle down and makes lots of little Autobots.
