When you’re faced with a sports-related injury, half of your friends will be adamant that ice is the only way to treat it. The other half will tell you that heat is the way to go. The problem is that most of your friends are idiots. So, which of your idiot friends are you supposed to listen to?
Christie and NVIDIA team up for an interactive car-buying experience powered by augmented reality (hands-on video)
Posted in: Today's ChiliIf committing the requisite funds for an Audi R8 coupe seems like a stressful ordeal, NVIDIA and Christie have created an augmented reality purchase experience to lend a hand with the selection process. Under the hood, the whole lot is powered by NVIDIA GPUs, Christie projectors and RTT DeltaGen software for car configuration. Using a 3D-printed, one-fifth scale model of the R8, a series of projectors and projection tiles utilize a 3D WARP mesh to outfit the car with paint, wheels and even headlamps. A tablet UI then allows the eager customer to toggle colors, rim options, side panels and turn the lights on and off. In addition to customizing the car itself, the system also shows how the R8 will look in different environments, from dusk by the water to the rural open road. For a quick video demo from the SIGGRAPH show floor, join us after the break.
It’s safe to say that anytime bacteria develops human-like traits, we should be startled. We’ve long known that the tiny little critters have ways of smelling and tasting, and then earlier this year, we learned about their simplistic economics system. Now, scientists have learned that they use social networks, too.

More and more tech companies are showing interest in education and helping out students by offering services and features to assist them during their studies. After all, the youth are the future. Google thinks so too and has introduced a textbooks category in Google Play where students can rent and buy digital textbooks.
Just in time for the fall semester, Google will be bringing textbooks to Google Play starting sometime next month, and they plan to offer a “comprehensive” selection of textbooks for students, although they didn’t go into specifics as to how many textbooks they’ll be offering. However, they did say that all five major publishing houses are on board.
To up the ante, though, Google is promising that these textbooks will be available at discounts of up to 80%, which is sometimes even more of a discount than even buying them physically used. I’m sure exact discounts will vary greatly depending on what book you’re looking for specifically, but most books should be a lot cheaper than their physical counterparts.
Like any other piece of content that you purchase in Google Play, textbooks will be able to sync across your multiple devices, including Android, iOS, and desktop computers through the browser. Seeing as how Google is marketing the Nexus 7 as the tablet to get for students, digital textbooks seems like a great way to continue marketing that.
Google is launching an education section in Google Play later this fall, and we’re guessing that today’s textbook addition will be a part of that platform. Apple, Google, and Microsoft have all displayed a huge interest in education and helping students succeed, while Facebook is aiming to do the exact opposite by distracting students during those long study cram sessions. We kid of course.

Think you’re fabulous because you sat in your bedroom and memorized every dance number to “Spiceworld?” When stressed do you imagine yourself in glitter hot pants in the middle of a desert a la the “Say You’ll Be There” music video? Well, next time dream you’re in Paris and you’ll be closer to what these three guys did in reality.
Choreographer Yanis Marshall leads a trio of fierce dancers as they transform the streets of old gay Paree into their own production of “Viva Forever!” They dance outside of landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower and then enlisting other backup dancers for a platform number while they wait for the Metro.
Sadly, the video only features three songs: “Wannabe,” “Stop,” and “Who Do You Think You Are?” Hopefully Marshall and his dancers will soon make their way to other cities strutting to the rest of the Spice catalogue.
Not even those stick figure car decals are immune to divorce.
Forget divvying up the assets or arguing over custody arrangements, the first order of business for today’s divorcés seems to be removing their exes from the family car stickers. (Need a refresher? See the crossed out wife on this back window or the Disneyland-loving family who etched out dad after the parent’s marriage presumably hit the skids.)
And here comes another, this one posted by Redditor Swagasaurous on Wednesday. Take a look:
News Reporter Draws Penis (VIDEO)
Posted in: Today's ChiliLocal ABC reporter Siobhan Riley was innocently drawing on a map to show her loyal viewers how road construction might be affecting their daily commutes.
But Riley, a reporter for ABC affiliate WJRT-TV, accidentally drew a giant penis smack in the middle of downtown Saginaw, Mich.
Hey, at least she didn’t do it to publicly mock her co-anchor’s penis size.

— Don’t get us wrong. We don’t mean to take anything away from the more substantial qualities of “The Wolverine,” a fairly satisfying if not stellar installment in the saga of the famous mutant that Hugh Jackman’s been playing since, wow, 2000. (For a little perspective, Bill Clinton was still president.)
But let’s just point out that Jackman bares it all in a brief but memorable scene in a bathtub, and the studio would be wise to advertise this scene as much as possible. Because Wolverine is all about Jackman, and not only is the actor in amazing shape, but he’s funny in the scene, too. So why not flaunt it?
