Life-sized Mario Statue: Will It Shrink if You Hit It?

This statue of Mario must have been fed a Super Mushroom, because he’s big enough to run and jump around in our world. According to its seller, the statue is 150 cm. or about 5 ft. tall. I’m not sure if that’s Mario’s official height, but it seems about right.

You can get the statue from Amazon Japan for ¥ 285,000 (~$2,900 USD). If you’re not a Mario fan, the seller also has other life-sized statues, including one of Spider-Man, Mazinger Z and Tetsujin 28 aka Gigantor.

T-Mobile LG Optimus F3 Announced

T Mobile LG Optimus F3 Announced T-Mobile has just announced the consumer customer availability date for the LG Optimus F3, not exactly the latest device to hit the market, and neither is it the best, but it so happens to be the latest 4G LTE device for the mobile carrier. Starting from August 7th, the LG Optimus F3 will have the honor of being the most affordable LTE Android-powered smartphone over at T-Mobile, and those who are interested will be able to pick it up for a limited-time promotion price of $0 down – although it will be accompanied by 24 equal monthly device payments of $101 each, coupled with T-Mobile’s Simple Choice Plan.

In fact, for the LG Optimus F3 to arrive over at T-Mobile this late into the game would ensure that the handset would not make new headway, as it has already appeared over at Sprint, Virgin Mobile and MetroPCS in the past. Just to recap, the LG Optimus F3 comes with a 4-inch vivid IPS display and advanced camera and video features, Wi-Fi calling capabilities, and 4G LTE connectivity among others. Any takers?

Nokia said to hold event in NYC on September 26-27

Could a tablet version of the Lumia smartphones be next on Nokia's agenda?

Nokia will hold a two-day event in New York on September 26 and 27, according to the folks at Windows Phone Central.

No details were spilled as to the nature of the event or the topic, but one obvious candidate is a Nokia tablet.

The company has traditionally used New York to unveil major new Lumia devices. In September 2012, Nokia launched the Lumia 920. Earlier this month, the Lumia 1020 made its debut. With a full lineup of Lumia phones now up for sale, the time may be ripe for a long-awaited tablet.

In February, Nokia CEO Stephen Elop said that the company was looking “very closely” at tablets but had nothing to announce yet. In May, Jo Harlow, executive vice president of smart devices for Nokia, also teased the notion, saying: “… [Read more]

“Breaking Bad” fans who subscribe to Netflix in the U.S. aren’t quite as lucky as their compatriots in the U.K., but they’ll still get the opportunity to binge on the hit show’s full catalog before its final episodes air.

Netflix said Wednesday that the first eight episodes of the final season of “Breaking Bad” will be available to stream in the U.S. as of Friday. The last eight episodes of the show, which follows a high-school chemistry teacher turned meth drug-lord, are set to begin airing August 11 on cable network AMC.

Earlier this month, Netflix arranged for its streaming users in the U.K. and Ireland to be able to access the latest “Breaking Bad” episode a day after it airs on cable in the states. On Wednesday, a Netflix representative couldn’t provide details about availability of the final eight episodes for U.S. customers.

Netflix already has all the earlier seasons of the program available to stream.

The Sneaky Trick Crappy Movie Studios Use to Rack Up On-Demand Views

Movie studios are betting you’re crazy impulsive when it comes to picking what movie you want to watch. Apparently, many movie titles are selected purely on alphabetical prioritization, so that they’ll pop up higher on your on demand menu. If your movie isn’t good art, you’ve got to make an art out of the business side of filmmaking.

Vodafone UK brings unlimited talk, text and data to Red Freedom Freebee plans

Vodafone UK adds unlimited talk, text and data to Red Freedom Freebee plans

These days, carriers seem to be gravitating towards “less for more” — as in, giving users less while charging more. For those situated in the UK, however, Vodafone’s offering up a new pay-as-you-go arrangement that actually smacks of value. The Red Freedom Freebee plans are pretty simple. For instance, £30 a month nets you unlimited texts and talk within the United Kingdom coupled with 1GB of data. Cough up £40 each month, and that data cap doubles to 2GB. A couple of cheaper plans are available for those who need little more than text messaging and enough data to keep tabs on their email, all of which can be seen in detail at Vodafone’s site.

Starbucks’ AT&T Wi-Fi To Be Replaced By Google

Starbucks’ AT&T Wi Fi To Be Replaced By Google When one goes to any of the numerous Starbucks coffee joints around the world, chances are your favorite brew would taste more or less the same throughout the entire franchise, and we do know that Starbucks has tried to be at the front of technological advancements too. For instance, they have started to offer wireless charging for your compatible devices in select parts of the country, not to mention give out free apps with each drink purchase from time to time and enabling Square wallet payments as of last year. Another endearing aspect of Starbucks would be having free Wi-Fi, and if you need to know, it does seem as though AT&T’s Wi-Fi at Starbucks outlets in the US will be ousted by Google soon.

We are talking about a massive number of 7,000 stores throughout the US, and Google themselves did promise to deliver up to 10 times a faster speed, which would bode well for Starbucks regulars. This entire process will be a lengthy one, taking approximately 18 months to complete. Of course, we do drool in anticipation of areas that do have access to Google Fiber which will theoretically deliver up to 100 times faster speed that before.
