Well, to consider this anything other than fantastic is to be wrong. Photographer Karsten Wegener teamed up with designer Silke Baltruschat and food stylist Raik Holst to create ‘Sausage in Art’, art which recreates famous paintings by using… deli meats, sausages, eggs, pickles and more. It might not look as good as the original, but it’s infinitely more tasty (and more funny).
New Exynos 5 Octa: 20 percent more CPU power, over twice the 3D graphics oomph
Posted in: Today's ChiliSamsung couldn’t help itself last week when it teased a new Exynos 5 Octa system on a chip, and now it’s dishing out the full details. The fresh 5420 variant of the SoC is based on Mali-T628 MP6 silicon, packs a quartet of ARM Cortex-A15 cores running at 1.8GHz and four 1.3GHz Cortex-A7s in an ARM big.LITTLE configuration. Seoul claims that the package packs 20 percent more CPU processing punch, and has two times greater 3D graphics power than its predecessor. Dual-channel LPDDR3 at 933MHz gives the processor a screaming memory bandwidth of 14.9 GBps, which lends it full HD WiFi display support. Baked inside is an image compression solution that makes for energy efficient multimedia loading, and squeezes out more hours of use with high-res displays. There’s no word on which devices might use the new SoCs, but the chips are already being sampled by Samsung’s customers, and mass-production is slated for August.
LG has clearly cast their eyes on the future by filing a bunch of trademark applications in South Korea, where these trademark applications do indicate that at least a couple of them will target the wearable technology category, with a […]

Google has acquired a small share of Himax Display Technologies, which is perhaps best known for rolling out the first USB 3.0 pico projector. Perhaps lesser known is its involvement with Glass, having created the tiny display on the device. The acquisition is still pending, and leaves room for additional shares.
Under the acquisition, Google will acquire a 6.3-percent share in the maker of liquid crystal on silicon chips, more commonly called LCOS. Likewise, Google will also retain an option for boosting that number to 8.5-percent at the same price as the initial acquisition for the duration of 12 months at the time of closing.
Should such a further acquisition happen, Google’s total holdings would then amount to 14.8-percent. Still, Himax Technologies retains 81.5-percent at the moment, and for the foreseeable future will remain the major shareholder. Other investors in the company include Intel Capital Corporation, KPCB Holdings, Inc., and Khosla Ventures I, L.P.
Though announced, the acquisition is still in the process of closing, having to go through the required regulatory measures and such. It is expected the deal will close during the third quarter of this year. The funds received from the deal will then be used by Himax for upgrades, expansion capacity, and other related areas. Himax Technologies will invest in its Display Technologies as part of this.
Said Himax’s President and CEO Jordan Wu, “Google is a preeminent global technology leader. We are delighted to receive this investment and to form a strategic partnership with Google. Beginning the second quarter of this year, we had already begun expanding capacity to meet demand for our LCOS product line. This investment from Google further validates our commitment to developing breakthrough technologies and state-of-the-art production facilities.”

The heart of wearing Google Glass isn’t merely the wish to be at the forefront of technology — it’s the excitement of seeing what you can get away with.
And so it was that last month New York web developer Patrick Hill decided he’d see if he could slide past the doorman of a strip club wearing Google Glass.
Accompanied by a New York Post reporter, Hill tried to enter the VIP club in Manhattan.
Subsequently, he posted the footage to YouTube, where, oddly, few have taken a look. So I thought I’d embed it here, as the next chapter in “Men Wearing Google Glass And Filming Not Much Happening” Series.
First, there was Chris Barrett who witnessed an arrest on the New Jersey shore and then wandered into an Atlantic City casino, looking like a borg from the ‘burb.
Hill’s quest, though, was even more daring. Strip clubs have doormen. They are men built like a door. They can be a l… [Read more]
