Royal Baby Birthday: Meet The Babies Who Share The Date (PHOTOS)

With the whole world watching , July 22, 2013 was the day Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton gave birth to a healthy baby boy. Without the whole world watching, thousands of other babies were born this day, too, and they are their parents’ whole worlds.

The Royal Mint had previously announced plans to give a “lucky” silver penny to all U.K. parents who have babies on the same day as Kate. And this afternoon, Clarence House, the official London residence of The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall, tweeted an invitation to all who share the day to also share the celebration. The result is a cute-fest of new faces who joined happy (and likely exhausted) moms and dads today — royal and otherwise.

Take a look and if you — or someone you know — had a baby today, join the fun by tweeting @HuffPostParents with #WelcomeToTheWorld.

Nokia Lumia 520 unveiled as first 4G Windows Phone AT&T GoPhone offering

Subscribers on AT&T‘s prepaid service GoPhone will have access to their first Windows Phone device, a Nokia Lumia 520, on July 26, according to an announcement the carrier made today. The handset is able to be used on the carrier’s expansive 4G network, and comes with a relatively budget-friendly price tag of $99.99 USD.

The Nokia Lumia 520 features a 4-inch IPS display with a WVGA resolution. Inside, users will find a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 dual-core processor running at 1GHz alongside 512MB of RAM. There’s 8GB of internal storage space, which can be expanded via the microSD card slot. There’s also a 5-megapixel camera around back.

AT&T goes on to push the camera feature a bit, which includes a few features like Cinemagraph for adding motion to images, super-wide-angle capture, and Smart Shoot, which snaps five images and, after the user selects certain elements out of each, combines them into a single group shot. Unfortunately, as we noted in our review, there is no LED flash.

As far as connectivity goes, there’s 4G as noted above, with dual-band HSDPA up to 21.2Mbps download and 5.7Mbps upload. In addition, users will find Bluetooth 3.0 and Wi-Fi b/g/n. There’s no NFC, and unfortunately no means for wireless charging either, neither of which is surprising given the price of the handset.

AT&T’s Senior Vice President of Devices, Jeff Bradley, said: “We are excited to launch the first 4G Windows Phone 8 smartphone in our GoPhone portfolio. A diverse device ecosystem benefits everyone, and the addition of an affordable Windows device gives our customers yet another choice that fits their needs.”

Motorola Droid Ultra Limited Edition leaks, touts a go-faster racing stripe

Motorola Droid Ultra Limited Edition leaks, touts 6mm thickness and red racing stripe

If you think a red version of the rumored Droid Ultra just wouldn’t be special enough, you’re in luck. Frequent Motorola device leaker Houdabao claims to have photos of a Limited Edition model that would include a wrap-around racing stripe, much like a decked out muscle car. Unfortunately, there isn’t much more to share. While Houdabao echoes talk of the Droid Ultra sporting a 5-inch LCD and a 6mm thick body, he doesn’t outline the Limited Edition’s full feature set. There’s also no mention of its intended audience — it may be only for Verizon staff, like the red Droid RAZR. Should the special-run Droid Ultra reach the public, though, there’s a chance we’ll learn more about it tomorrow. Check out a second photo of the Limited Edition after the break.

UCLA’s 1948 Mechanical Computer Was Simply Gorgeous To Watch in Action

The mechanical computers of yesterday may have been enormous, difficult to program, and amazingly clunky—but they sure were beautiful to watch in action. Released theatrically by Popular Science on August 6, 1948, this short film played before Paramount Pictures movies and demonstrated to the public how computers were freeing "research of old limitations" and provided "stimulus for unprecedented technical advancements." For those watching in darkened theaters, though, it was mostly just gorgeously choreographed machinery.
