Plastic iPhone and iPhone 5 comparison shots leaked

The plastic (some say budget) iPhone has been making appearances at a more rapid pace of as of late, with the latest leak involving comparison shots between a plastic iPhone and an iPhone 5. The images give the cheaper model an interesting perspective, as well as a look at some of the subtle design differences between the two (plastic shell aside).

You can check out the full roster of images in the gallery below, in which we see a pastel green plastic iPhone laid atop, aside, and against an iPhone 5. With the images, both the roundness and ample plastic become strikingly apparent, as well as some design changes that exist between the two of them. There’s also a couple shots of the plastic iPhone’s innards.

While the back of both the plastic iPhone and the iPhone 5 look the same in terms of design, we see the differences in other shots. The bottom, for example, of the plastic iPhone features four speaker holes on one side of the connection slot, while the iPhone 5 has more robust grilles on either side. The volume buttons are also different, with the plastic iPhone’s being elongated rather than circular.

The leak, which surfaced on Chinese website Weibo, also suggests that the plastic iPhone will be available in two different models that look the same but feature different hardware, codenamed Zenevo and Zagato/Bertone. The Zenevo model is said to feature a Samsung H5P dual processor, 1GB of RAM, Bluetooth 4.0, and FDD 4G connectivity.

The so-called Zegato/Bertone version of the handset, meanwhile, is reportedly featuring an H6P processor and 1GB of RAM, as well as Bluetooth 4.0 and TDD 4G LTE support. As always, take it all with a grain of salt, as nothing is confirmed. You can find out about the other plastic iPhone leaks that have surfaced in the timeline below.

Jesse And The Rippers Reunite On ‘Late Night With Jimmy Fallon’ To Perform ‘Full House’ Medley (VIDEO)

Need a little Uncle Jesse in your life? You got it, dude! It’s been almost 20 years since Jesse and The Rippers performed together, but the fictional “Full House” band reunited on “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” on Friday and they absolutely delivered.

John Stamos, who played Jesse Katsopolis on “Full House,” truly got in the spirit of the Jesse and The Rippers reunion, donning his signature mullet and black leather vest to sing a medley (above) of “Forever” by the Beach Boys, Elvis’ “Little Sister,” Chan Romero’s “Hippy Hippy Shake” (which the band last performed at Walt Disney World on an episode of “Full House”) and last, but certainly not least, the “Full House” theme song. Diehard “Full House” fans will notice the Smash Club sign hanging from the ceiling in Jesse and The Rippers’ honor. Of course, Stamos threw in a “Have Mercy” mid-performance for good measure before he ran into the audience where fellow “Full House” alum Bob Saget danced along.

Lori Loughlin, who played Jesse’s wife Rebecca (née Donaldson), even stopped by at the end of the performance to give Stamos a kiss. Whoa, whoa, whoa — watch the hair, Aunt Becky!

Jamie Foxx Backs Trayvon Martin’s Mom ‘Forever’

SAN DIEGO (AP) — Hours after President Barack Obama delivered remarks about Trayvon Martin and the George Zimmerman trial, Jamie Foxx and Samuel L. Jackson addressed the racially charged case at Comic-Con in San Diego.

Foxx was at the massive pop culture convention to promote his role as the villain Electro in “The Amazing Spider-Man 2.” Holding his 4-year-old daughter Annalise, who wore a Spider-Man backpack and shoes, Foxx said he was “disappointed” in the July 13 not guilty verdict in Florida.

He had been among the most vocal celebrities expressing support for Martin’s family, having met the teen’s mother Sybrina Fulton at an awards show.

Gmail gets full-screen compose option by popular demand

In October, Google rolled out a new Gmail compose box that would allow users to reference past emails and other content in the account while composing. While it was a handy change and addressed issues many had complained about, others weren’t happy when it became the default option. Now, by popular demand, a full-screen option has been added.

compose

Google announced the new feature today on Google+, saying that it was prodded to add a full-screen compose window by feedback it received from users. The option doesn’t do away with the current pop-out compose window, which is fixed to the right side of the inbox, instead giving a second option for those who prefer it.

With the new full-screen mode, the compose window expands to fill most of the center of the user’s display, with the outer margins dimming gray for a proper writing session. This can be achieved either temporarily, depending on need, or set as the default way Gmail’s compose box shows up when a new message is started.

The full-screen option can be triggered by clicking the Expand button on the menu bar. To make the expanded view your default option, the More Options menu on the bottom of the box holds the “Default to full-screen” option, which can be toggled on and off as desired. Those who don’t see it yet should be seeing it within the next couple days, since it is happening in waves.

In addition to the full-screen compose window, the formatting toolbar is also now on by default, making it easier to get to the formatting tools that, upon a quick glance, had seemed to disappear when the design change first took place.

Galaxy S 4 for Verizon spied in Brown Autumn

Samsung Galaxy S 4 for Verizon possibly spied in Brown Autumn

History might be repeating itself. Just as Samsung launched a red Galaxy S III for AT&T and followed up with black and brown Verizon models, a new @evleaks image hints that AT&T’s red Galaxy S 4 could be matched by a Brown Autumn equivalent on Verizon. The product shot doesn’t reveal more than the color, mind you — we don’t know when this GS4 could ship, or if Blue Arctic would tag along. If the past is anything to go by, though, customers won’t have to pay a premium for any additional Verizon hues.

2014 Honda Fit Hybrid scores highest MPG among Japanese hybrids

Honda has announced that its 2014 Fit Hybrid has beat out all other hybrid models in Japan with a mileage rating of 36.4 km/L, which works out to about 85MPG in the United States. The small car, among other things, features three driving modes that are automatically engaged depending on the environment in which the car is being driven.

The 2013 Honda Fit Hybrid is the first to utilize a SPORT HYBRID Intelligent Dual Clutch Drive, more easily referred to as an i-DCD. This is a one-motor system that the auto maker says is best suited for small cars, and works with the EV drive by “disengaging the engine and the motor”. It falls within the company’s Earth Dreams Technology category, which aims at achieving high gas mileage.

Inside, there’s an inline 4-cylinder 1.5-liter Atkinson cycle engine, as well as the i-DCD’s 7-speed DCT integrated high-output motor. In addition, there’s also an Intelligent Power Unit (IPU) with a lithium-ion battery built into it. Further expanding on the system to achieve a high gas mileage rating is the braking system.

Braking is done via an electric servo brake system, which is said to increase electrical regenerative efficiency. There’s also an all-electric compressor to lessen the load on the engine. All of this, when combined, results in a system that Honda says results in a fuel economy in excess of 35-percent better than the IMA hybrid system that is currently being used.

As mentioned, there are three driving modes, each of which is triggered automatically, comprised of EV Drive Mode (motor-only), the Hybrid Drive Mode (engine and motor driving), and the Engine Drive Mode (engine-only). Sales, said Honda, will start in Japan in September.
