Online Marriage Proposal Features Incredible Interactive Website

To pop the question to his girlfriend, one Chicago web designer decided to put his technical skills to the ultimate test.

With the help of illustrator Gabe Cooper and web developer Josh Compton, Matt Bush proposed to his girlfriend of two years, Kate Vogel, by designing a slideshow-style website that told the story of their relationship. The story concluded with instructions for Vogel to meet Bush at the bench in Chicago where they first decided to start dating, and Bush proposed.

Compton posted the website, called A Story About Us, on Reddit Wednesday; check it out here.

Alabama Football: Nick Saban Waves Off Bear Bryant Comparisons, Three-Peat Talk

HOOVER, Ala. (AP) — Nick Saban is as hard to distract as he is to beat.

Ask the Alabama coach what winning a third straight national title would mean, and he wonders why he’d waste brain juice thinking about it. Compare him to Bear Bryant, and he swiftly dismisses such talk — though it isn’t sounding so farfetched these days.

The Crimson Tide’s ultra-focused coach didn’t let 1,000-plus reporters at Southeastern Conference media days change his process-oriented approach.

Vergara is once again competing against her co-star Julie Bowen — who won in 2011 and 2012 — for the Emmy for “Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series”; and “Modern Family” will be vying for it’s fourth consecutive win as “Outstanding Comedy Series.”

Dzhokhar Tsarnaev Arrest PHOTOS: New Pictures Emerge From Boston Bombing Suspect Manhunt

A Massachusetts State Police officer has released never-before-seen photos of Boston bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, which show him bloodied and bruised as sniper teams take aim at his head.

Sgt. Sean Murphy, a tactical photographer with the state police, handed over the photos to Boston Magazine on Thursday. He released them because he was furious with Rolling Stone for running the now-infamous cover photo of Tsarnaev that many say glamorizes the Boston bombing suspect. He told the magazine that he wanted to counter the message he says Rolling Stone conveys.

DANCING DIVORCEE: Kill The Curiosity, Not The Cat

I had gone to my four times removed third cousin’s uncle’s house and there, after a hearty meal came the post prandial question, “If you don’t mind, what exactly happened between the Ex and you?” He was a retired Colonel and I knew this wasn’t the curiosity of a gossip. He genuinely cared.

How Much Food Do We Waste Every Year?

We’re wasteful people. Maybe not you and maybe not me but definitely "we". Some of us try to live as consciously as possible but it hardly matters when the rest of us are inconsiderate and lazy. The United States wastes about $165 billion in food every year. Half of the food produced in the US is wasted between the farm and the fork! This video reveals the numbers behind the food we waste. It’s pretty rough and it doesn’t get much better. [Visual.ly via FoodBeast]

Huawei accused of spying for China by former CIA boss

Late last year, allegations had surfaced regarding Chinese handset makers ZTE and Huawei, with claims being tossed around that they were spying on behalf of the Chinese government. Both makers rejected the claims, and Huawei went on to offer unrestricted access to its software code in an effort to prove its innocence. Nearly a year later, and now former CIA boss Michael Hayden has spoken out, stating that Huawei did provide information to the Chinese government.

On October 17, a source had cropped up over at Reuters claiming that a White House review in the matter found no evidence indicating that Huawei was spying for China. The probe, according to the sources, had found risky vulnerabilities with the maker’s products, but no evidence that espionage was taking place. It was never specified whether those vulnerabilities were believed to be intentional.

All was quiet on the matter for awhile, but now former CIA boss Michael Hayden has spoken up about the issue in a lengthy interview with the Australian Financial Review. When asked specifically about whether he’d ever had any “direct exposure” with Huawei, Hayden responded:

Two or three years ago Huawei was trying to establish a pretty significant footprint here in the United States. And they were trying to get people like me – as the former head of NSA and the CIA – to endorse their presence in the US. To serve on their local board, or to have some other kind of commercial relationship with them.

I reviewed Huawei’s briefing paper, which said all the right things. One could almost honestly judge that were actually trying to genuinely put my mind at ease.

But God did not make enough briefing slides on Huawei to convince me that having them involved in our critical communications infrastructure was going to be okay. This is not blind prejudice on my part. This was my considered view based on a four-decade career as an intelligence officer.

My conclusion was that, “No, it is simply not acceptable for Huawei to be creating the backbone of the domestic telecommunications network in the United States, period.” And frankly this is where I think the state has a role to play – to ensure we don’t make decisions that compromise the foundations of our national security.

Following a brief discussion about the telecommunications industry, Hayden was asked outright whether he felt Huawei was a threat to the security of the United States and Australia, he said that he does. He also states that he believes there is “hard evidence” showing that the maker has engaged in espionage for China. He says it is his belief that, at a minimum, Huawei provided China with “intimate and extensive knowledge” on the telecommunications systems it works with.

When asked if he knew of any instances of backdoors and other specific things, he repeatedly claimed being unable to provide answers and direct knowledge. What he does reveal, however, is very interesting, not only the topic of Huawei, but also of other recent happenings, including the PRISM leak and how it is viewed from someone who was so deeply entrenched within the system. You can read the entire interview yourself, which is fairly long, over at the AFR.

‘Divergent’ At Comic-Con: Veronica Roth Adaptation Hits San Diego, Along With ‘Ender’s Game’

Comic-Con 2013 kicked into gear on Thursday with the Summit Entertainment panel for the upcoming YA adaptations of “Ender’s Game” and “Divergent.”

“Ender’s Game,” with Harrison Ford, Hailee Steinfeld and Asa Butterfield in lead roles, is at the center of a growing controversy that’s focused on “Ender’s Game” author Orson Scott Card and his opposition of same-sex marriage and gay rights. (Director Gavin Hood and producer Roberto Orci spoke to HuffPost Entertainment about the issue in an interview earlier on Thursday.)

“Divergent,” with Shailene Woodley and Theo James leading its cast of young stars, has no such controversy clouding its release: Veronica Roth’s novel, the first in a trilogy (the third book is due this fall), has been compared to “The Hunger Games” and could be the next big thing for YA fans at the box office.
