Grand Theft Auto V PSN Avatars Can Now Be DownloadedHeads up, boys and girls! I am quite sure that many of you are extremely excited with what Grand Theft Auto V will deliver when it finally hits store shelves. Well, you have been waiting for quite some time already, and here we are with word that Grand Theft Auto V PSN avatars can now be downloaded over at the PlayStation Store. These will cost $0.49 a pop, and you can choose from a range that will also include the three playable lead characters of Grand Theft Auto V.

Michael happens to be a professional ex-con whose retirement is a lot less rosy than he hoped it would be, while Franklin is a street hustler looking for real opportunities and serious money, with Trevor being a maniac with violent tendencies, who is driven by the chance of a cheap high and the next big score.

Much has been said and talked about Grand Theft Auto V in the past, where we did check out the gameplay trailer which was released earlier this month which delivered actual in-game footage, in addition to the possibility of the title breaking UK games sales records. Not only that, there has also been special hardware and bundles lined up to commemorate the Grand Theft Auto V launch.

Google Opens Invites To Google Glass Explorer Program

Google Opens Invites To Google Glass Explorer ProgramIt seems that exclusive e-mails have started to be sent out by Google to owners of the Google Glass Explorer Edition, where it opens up the door for such privileged owners to invite at least one more friend to pick up a Google Glass prototype, now how about that? It is somewhat similar to how Google did things in the past, including sending Gmail invites to your mates when the webmail service was in its early beta stage.

Google mentioned in the e-mail, “We love sharing glass with our friends, because adventures through Glass are more fun with others. Here’s your chance to invite one friend into the Glass Explorer Program.” To make sure that you are eligible for an invitation, the friends of Explorer owners will need to be at least 18 years of age, be a resident in the US, and can pick up the device in San Francisco, Los Angeles, or New York. Of course, the rest of the world waits in bated breath to pick up the Google Glass sometime next year, although the $1,500 Explorer Edition prototypes have started to ship in April. What are some of the more creative ways of using Google Glass that you have already come across?

Fake GPS Signals Send Yacht Astray

Fake GPS Signals Send Yacht AstrayWell, well, it seems that you might want to upgrade your navigational systems on your multi-million dollar yacht after hearing this news – researchers from the University of Texas claimed to have succeeded in generating fake GPS signals, and this effort was not done through a computer program performing a brute force hacking, but it required several years of work and mistakes before the team managed to spoof GPS (Global Positioning System) signals, and in an experiment, they managed to send a yacht hundreds of meters off course, all the time fooling the crew into thinking that the yacht remained on course without veering to the right or to the left.

Good thing it was a test that was conducted on purpose, and not pulled off as a prank. In this particular test which was conducted off the coast of Italy last month, it proved to be successful and of course, is one of the most sophisticated ever reported against GPS. Part of the process involved generating fake signals which were a wee bit different from the legitimate ones, and in order to fool the yacht, they had to mimic the entire GPS constellation, which was no mean feat. Obviously, this won’t work very well at night since sailors can always refer to the stars in the sky, but during the daytime, it could be a very powerful military weapon.

Pinterest upgrades iPhone app with animated pinning shortcuts

DNP Pinterest iPhone pinning shortcut

Given its CEO’s stance on the importance of mobile, it’s only natural for Pinterest to keep polishing its apps. The newest iPhone version, for instance, brings with it an animated shortcut for repinning, liking and sending pins to pals when you press on an entry. Though similar in function to Tumblr’s sharing tools, the menu boasts fancier graphics that fit the social networks’ aesthetic. As a nice bonus, Pinterest’s also adding an Edit Home Feed button for speedier housekeeping on the iPhone and the ability to send pins to your friends from the iPad. Assuming you’re willing to wade through a deluge of recipes, inspirational quotes and bridal photos, you can check out the app via the links below.

Black Nintendo 3DS XL Arriving Next Month

Black Nintendo 3DS XL Arriving Next MonthAccording to NPD figures, the Nintendo 3DS is the top selling console in the US for the month of June, but for those who want a slight change in scenery, you might want to check out the Nintendo 3DS XL (which has done pretty well for itself when it was first released last year) that also has its fair share of customized accessories, having arrived in bundles in the past, but here we are with word that the black version of the Nintendo 3DS XL will be arriving sometime in August 2013.

Granted, we are already at the tail end of July, so it should not be too long until this dark color of your choice arrives. I personally prefer my devices to come in black – not only does it masks the smudges and dirt a whole lot better than a white device, you won’t find black plastic turning yellow after some time, too. The black version of the Nintendo 3DS XL will hit store shelves this August 11th to keep company the blue, red, and pink models. On the same day, do expect to have some fun as the Mario & Luigi: Dream Team action RPG is released, too.

Samsung Smart Watch Could Be The SM-V700

Samsung Smart Watch Could Be The SM V700While there were rumors of Apple entering the smart watch market, you know for sure that this is a very profitable sign for other companies who want to ride on the bandwagon that Apple is on, since in recent times, Apple has rarely put a wrong foot in their direction where new products are concerned, what with the iPhone and iPad clearly working up explosive sales figures regardless of the markets that they are launched in. Samsung, a business partner and also rival to Apple, too wants in on the possible smart watch race, and apparently it seems that the model number of Samsung’s alleged smart watch has leaked out, where it is known as the SM-V700.

Unfortunately, apart from the SM-V700 model number, nothing else is known about the device, as to when it will be released and how much will it cost. Hopefully a prototype will be revealed soon, and that the customary leaked photos of it will be clear enough to make out some important detail of the device.

Christina Applegate’s Father Learns Truth About His Mother On ‘Who Do You Think You Are?’ (VIDEO)

Christina Applegate was next up to dig into her personal heritage on “Who Do You Think You Are?” and the experience had an unexpected side benefit. It allowed Christina to bond with her father, Bob, whom she did not see often while growing up. She did grow closer to him after the birth of her daughter in 2011, but this experience brought them even closer.

Bob’s mother had died when he was 13. After that, he was passed around between different family members while growing up, giving him little stability and little closure about the loss of his mother. In fact, her death had always been a mystery in the family. It was Christina’s hope that she could give Bob some peace by uncovering the truth about his mother.

She learned that her grandmother had passed away from tuberculosis. She also learned about a secret history of alcoholism and abuse in the family. But it was a secret history that had ended with Bob.

HBO on Chromecast to make ‘Game of Thrones’ more portable?

Could you soon carry around your HBO subscription in your pocket to search out bigger screens for enjoying "Game of Thrones"?

(Credit: CNET)

There could soon be an even smaller means of (legally) carrying around “Game of Thrones” in your pocket.

HBO’s Laura Young told Variety this week that the network is “actively exploring supporting Chromecast as another way for our subscribers to enjoy HBO Go.”

HBO customers can currently watch some of the sexiest and goriest content on television via the HBO Go app on just about any device, but adding compatibility with Google’s new low-cost HDMI dongle would up the ante considerably. While HBO’s paid content is already essentially portable on the tiny screens of most mobile devices, a Chromecast app would allow a subscription to be transported to any screen of any size, anywhere.

PaperDude VR resurrects Paperboy with Oculus Rift, Kinect, KickR and a bike

DNP OCulus Rift's Paperman gives all the fun of Paperboy but with a sweat

One sad aspect of modern tech is that it’s all but ruined our dreams of slinging dead trees for comic book money after school. However, gizmos have enabled a killer sequel to the best paperboy simulation ever. Using a smattering of electronics — and a real bike! — PaperDude VR is the followup we never knew we wanted. Joining an Oculus Rift VR headset, Microsoft Kinect and Wahoo Fitness KickR into a sweat-drenched union, PaperDude VR creates an almost zen-like experience of tossing newspapers, knocking down road barriers and busting windows.

Nostalgia’s a powerful drug, and we’d love a ride to see if chasing the dragon of our youth is as good as we remember. Given developer Globacore’s history though, the chances of seeing this outside a specialized kiosk are slim to none. Regardless, we have one niggling question: Do pixelated paperdudes dream of 8-bit dogs?
