Mario Kart 7 MicroDrive

Want to live life a little dangerously? You are able to do so by taking your chances whenever you are behind the wheel, but why do so in real life when you become a danger not only to yourself, but to people around you? You might as well get that done in a far more safer environment – that is, using a remote controlled toy, coupled with your imagination, of course. The $44.99 Mario Kart 7 MicroDrive would fit the bill perfectly, as you see tiny Mario gripping the wheel with both hands, ready to spring into action at any time!

The Mario Kart 7 MicroDrive is one cute little toy, where this particular racer might not have a trio of swirling red tortoise shells circling it at all times, but it is capable of performing a wheelie, something that Mario is unable to do in all Mario Kart series to date. Not only that, he intends to wow the skirts off the ladies by performing 360 degree spins, too! This R/C vehicle is capable of multiple speeds to boot, and will be powered by half a dozen of AAA batteries in total. Get two of these and you have a Mario vs Mario match.

The Djoclate II Is A Portable Music Mixer That Lets You DJ Tunes From Friends’ Devices

djoclate-2

Here’s a neat hardware project seeking funding on Kickstarter. The Djoclate II — NB: Djoclate is pronounced ‘chocolate’ with a Dutch accent — is a portable, near pocket-sized music mixer. The idea is to enable the would-be DJ who brings it to a house party to pull tunes into the mix from any music storage device in the room, whether that’s a laptop, phone, MP3 player or tablet. Every partygoer’s music collection can potentially become part of the audio pool. So no more ‘it’s not in my record box/on my playlist/on Spotify’ excuses.

To act as a virtual record box the Djoclate II has two inputs, where music storage devices that have a 3.5mm jack can be plugged in (it will ship with two 70cm 3.5mm jack cables to connect music players, and also a mini-USB cable to charge the Djoclate itself, with no other power source required). There’s also a third input where headphones can be plugged in so the DJ can pre-listen to the next track before dropping it in. Tracks can be then faded in and out via the two faders on the device. There’s also bass kill on both channels.

The Djoclate II is, as its name suggests, the second iteration of the gadget. New features include the pre-listening feature and also Bluetooth connectivity so it can also integrate with a wireless speaker or sound system. When not being used as a mixer it can double as a Bluetooth sender to get tracks from your portable onto your sound system. The wireless connectivity option is only for outputting audio; inputs devices have to be plugged in via the cables provided.

Djoclate’s creators, Pepperdecks, are seeking $30,000 on Kickstarter to ship the sequel. With 23 days to go on their crowdfunding campaign they’ve raised more than a third of that. The device is expected to retail for $89 but a few early backers can still secure one for $55 or more.

The startup told TechCrunch it has sold around 2,000 of the first Djoclate model since December in The Netherlands, but has now also expanded its availability to Germany and Italy.

Print Your Own Insane Shining-Like Manuscript Without Going Crazy

Stanley Kubrick’s take on Stephen King’s The Shining is all an all-around creepfest. And one of the more unsettling scenes is when the "All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy" manuscript is finally revealed. These Synthesia Glasses Help Blind People “See” Via Sonar

People who have been blind since a young age can sometimes learn to develop a sort of low-grade echolocation. This technique, used by the likes of Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, Ronnie Milsap, and Ben Underwood, works much the same way as it does in bats and dolphins. But people who have just recently lost their sight can’t harness this ability innately. They need the vOICe to do it for them.

iPhone plastic backs and buttons appear on factory floor

It’s once again time to look at the next iPhone, the “budget” model, as it were, with several different colors in store for the near future. This week it would appear that those responsible for manufacturing this next-generation model have let loose several different views of the machine, both from the inside and with its several buttons in full view. You’ll see a light blue, red, green, and yellow here, consistent with several recent leaks of the machine in kind.

What’s being shown in the array of buttons in a pile here is the volume up-down rocker, the power/lock button, and the lock key. This lock is identified by the red line which appears when the machine’s lock is pulled up, this signifying the locking of the device – be it muted or orientation locked, whatever the user chooses. The red model would appear to be using a white indicator instead of the standard red.

Meanwhile this same source, Benjamin’s Tech – aka Benjamin Franklin, oddly enough, shows five different colors for the next-generation lesser of the iPhones. Here we’ve got each matching the buttons above, red, yellow, blue, and green, as well as a standard white. These parts match up well with previous understanding that they’d have a back-facing camera and at least one LED flash bulb.

They’re also continuing to match previous leaks suggesting this “plastic” iPhone to be rolling out with a 4-inch display, much like the current iPhone 5. The big differences will be in the processor and the materials used to create the device, we must assume, while the smartphone itself will bring a rather similar experience in the software realm. It’ll be iOS 7 for all by the end of this year!

Xbox One, PS4 launch day pre-orders sold out on Amazon

As expected, Amazon has announced that they have run out of their “initial allocations” for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 consoles. This means that launch day pre-orders for both consoles have sold out, including the Xbox One Day One Edition. Amazon says they still have standard editions of both consoles available for pre-order, but they can’t guarantee that they’ll arrive on launch day.

Amazon posted about the sold out consoles on their Amazon Video Games Facebook page, saying that it’s been “a crazy and exciting month” for next-generation console pre-orders, but while they announced that they were sold out of launch day pre-orders, they mentioned that they could be receiving more allocations in the future for launch day.

Amazon opened the floodgates for pre-orders for the Xbox One on June 10, so it took just a little over a month for initial supply to run dry. Previously, GameStop was the first retailer to announce that PS4 pre-orders have been sold out, and they stopped taking pre-orders for the console for the time being.

As for the Xbox One, Best Buy was the first to announce the dreadful news that pre-orders have been exhausted and are no longer accepting new orders. We expected that trend to spread to other retailers eventually over the summer, and it seems Amazon is the next one to make the list.

No announcements in the UK have been made yet as far as sold out pre-orders, but we can only assume that as the launch dates keep creeping in, the harder it will be to pre-order a new console. This means that if you’re thinking about hopping on board, now is the best time to do so, since each day that passes poses a risk for more sold out stores to come forward.
