Wow! That is one manly dad.

Gentlemen, do strollers make you feel like less of a man? Czech-based automotive company Skoda has come up with a solution: the vRS Mega Man-Pram, created to celebrate the launch of the third-generation Octavia vRS family car in the U.K.

The monster 6.5-foot-tall pram comes complete with hydraulic suspension, 20-inch alloy wheels, all-terrain tires, rear-view mirrors, a high-beam headlight, an anti-stress push-bar grip, and high-spec brakes with brake lights. The inside is lined with sports-style upholstery and adjustable lumbar support.

According to Skoda, the company surveyed 1,000 British dads to find out what men want when it comes to strollers, and 76 percent responded that they’d be more likely to push the baby around if they had access to a stylish, high-tech pram. The top five most-wanted features were a muscular design, large alloy wheels, hydraulic suspension, high-tech brakes, and rear-view mirrors.

On the Road (and Off-Road) with the 2014 Toyota 4Runner

Recently, the fine folks at Toyota were kind enough to give me the opportunity to put their brand new 2014 4Runner SUV through its paces in rural Pennsylvania. I had the chance to drive several different models of the updated 4Runner, in a variety of driving conditions.

2014 4runner 4

The updated 4Runner sports an aggressive new grill and body style which makes it stand out from the crowd, and drives home the fact that this SUV isn’t just meant for hauling groceries and kids around town.

The 4Runner is for active lifestyles, and can keep up with the best of them both on and off paved roads. Pictured above is the 4Runner Trail, which has the beefiest look of the bunch, but I also got to drive the 4Runner Limited, which has a more luxurious, urban look to it. There’s also a the base SR5 edition (not shown here).

2014 4runner 1

Having driven both the Limited and the Trail editions, I have to say that I’m truly impressed with this vehicle. While it’s still built like a truck, with a body-on-frame construction, it manages to not feel like a truck when driving it. The Limited felt very luxurious and solid while hitting the open road, and had a car-like feel other than the fact that you’re higher up than normal.

2014 4runner 3

On the other hand, taking one of the 4X4 models off-road, the 4Runner made quick work of mud-puddles, climbing huge logs and rocks, and conquering slippery uphill and downhill climbs. The Trail edition offers exceptional ground clearance, and its Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System helps the axles to move more nimbly over difficult and uneven surfaces. This model also benefits from CRAWL control, which helps drivers deal with acceleration and braking steep grades automatically, keeping their focus on steering.

2014 4runner 5

All three versions, the SR5, Trail and Limited are powered by the same 270hp, 4.0L V6 found in last year’s model, and that’s a good thing. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it, I say. The SR5 can be ordered in 4×2 or 4×4 configurations, while the Trail and Limited are only 4×4.

2014 4runner 6

All models come with nice touches like projector headlights, LED taillights, front and rear mudguards, a backup camera, and Toyota’s Entune system. Though you’ll have to go for one of the Premium models if you want navigation. While the SR5 and Trail offer 17-inch wheels, the more urban Limited rides on 20′s. The Limited also offers the most refined interior, with leather-trimmed seats with both heating and ventilation for both driver and passenger. It also touts an upgraded JBL audio system,.

2014 4runner 2

Overall, I’m very impressed with the 4Runner, and would be happy to park one of these in my own garage. For more information on the 2014 4Runner, check out Toyota’s website.

Check Out How Much Better Twitter Could Look (and Work)

In the early days, Twitter was famous for its dead simple design: a box, some text, a button. But over the years, it’s gotten busier with the hashtags and the @ mentions and the retweets. Some might say say too busy. So why not just start over and rebuild this thing from the ground up?

Nintendo brings not-so-stealthy black 3DS XL to North America on August 11th

Nintendo brings notsostealthy black 3DS XL to the US on August 11th

Looking for a (slightly) less conspicuous take on the 3DS XL? If you live in the US or Canada, you’ll get it when the all-black version of Nintendo’s giant handheld reaches those countries on August 11th. Don’t expect any bonuses with the subtler color, though. The darker-hued 3DS XL costs the same $200 as before, and it’s virtually identical to the Japanese version that launched last fall. It’s shipping at the same time as Mario & Luigi: Dream Team, however, which makes it a decent consolation prize for gamers who can’t get a Luigi edition 3DS LL to call their own.

Instagram deletes photos from 3rd party apps in Windows Phone

Windows Phone users working with Instagram through any of a number of 3rd party apps may want to have a peek at their photo collections this week, as reports are filtering in of mass deletes. Instagram has issued a statement on the matter, suggesting that they’ve recently “made an update to the systems that we use to fight spam to help prevent future attacks and increase security”, but appear to offer no specific details on 3rd party apps specifically.

Instagram-logo2

At the moment it would seem that the photo removals are only affecting users working with 3rd party apps – not Instagram itself. This would be because the company is able to detect photos uploaded from apps other than the official app, and seem to have decided that they’d like their servers to be filled with only photos that they’ve had uploaded through their own product.

In some instances it would appear that photos are being deleted entirely, while in others the photos are being kicked out of the public eye only. This would mean that the user who uploaded said photo could still see and access the media, while anyone else outside of the logged-in account would not be able to see it at all.

fafsddsa

Instagram does allow developers to use their Instagram API to create apps, but there is a process which creators of 3rd party apps must follow before their app can be approved. And approved an app must be before Instagram will be OK with you, the developer, releasing said app to the public.

We’ll be updating this article as necessary as additional reports come in.
