BioShock Infinite DLC Rolls Out Today

BioShock Infinite DLC Rolls Out TodayBioShock Infinite, a game that was released on the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC earlier this year, has broken new ground in the world of gaming then, but there is more to the game than that as two different sets of downloadable content has also been announced to inject new life into BioShock Infinite. The first one, known as Clash in the Clouds has been made available to the masses today. Clash in the Clouds happens to be a rather challenging, battle arena-style event that has been modeled after the game’s tough 1999 mode, where you are required to dispatch of your enemies under selected conditions, where the cash that you obtain after achieving such objectives can be used to further unlock more bonuses that range from audio files to concept art.

Levine shared, “So I thought, maybe we can do something where we give the player the opportunity to just play with the full toolset, and all of the powers and upgrades and everything, and create far more challenging gameplay for them. So with that in mind, we gathered up the people really specialized in combat on Infinite and essentially told them the gloves were off, you guys can make whatever you want.”

As for the second DLC, it will take place in the city of Rapture and comprises of a two-part outing that will be called “Burial at Sea.”

Sony Honami Spotted At GFXBenchThe Sony Honami has long been known to be the next flagship smartphone from the folks over at Sony Mobile, has already hit the FCC in recent times. However, those who are wondering just what the Sony Honami has in store underneath the hood will be pleased to check out the smartphone (that is known as the C6903 where model numbers are concerned) has already made an appearance over at the GFXbench database, where along the way, has confirmed the long rumored Snapdragon 800 chipset from Qualcomm that will be accompanied by a quartet of Krait 400 cores, in addition to a Full HD display alongside on-screen buttons and the latest Adreno 330 chip. Jupiter cake crafted from deliciously accurate layers

Take a bite out of Jupiter.

(Credit: Cakecrumbs)

First, there was Earth cake. Then, Cakecrumbs created Jupiter cake, a treat designed to match our theoretical knowledge of the massive planet’s structure. It’s yummy and educational.

Building the gas giant out of cake batter, fondant, and edible ink turned out to be a challenge. Just painting in all the details and storms on the outside took 8 hours. Cakecrumbs used reference photos in an attempt to be as accurate as possible. Cutting open the cake reveals a round core covered by two layers representing liquid metallic hydrogen and molecular hydrogen.

Scientists Grow Teeth From Scratch in the Worst Imaginable Way

Scientists Grow Teeth From Scratch in the Worst Imaginable Way

Sometimes, good oral hygiene just isn’t enough to keep your mouth full of pearly whites perfectly intact. That’s where science comes in (we’d hope). But the newest foray into fabricating teeth for when our bodies no longer can might be better left in the lab—or lavatory, as the case may be. Because scientists are now trying to grow teeth out of human urine.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Specs “Confirmed” (Again)

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Specs Confirmed (Again)The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 has gone through its fair share of rumors in the past, and since the device has yet to be announced officially, plenty of speculation remains as to what kind of hardware will it pack underneath the hood. Well, try not to fret too much, as we have come up with a primer on the Galaxy Note 3’s release date, specifications and news. A Gfxbench benchmark leak has shown off some of the hardware specifications of the Galaxy Note 3, where they include a Snapdragon 800 chipset that has been clocked at 2.3GHz, a Full HD display (of unknown size, where last we heard, there could be three screen sizes actually!), and Android 4.3 Jelly Bean as the operating system of choice.

The two Galaxy Note 3 models that were spotted in the tests would be the SM-N900S that is headed for SK Telecom and the SM-N900L for LGU+, where they are both mobile carriers in South Korea. Of course, we will continue to keep a keen eye out on what the Galaxy Note 3 will be able to deliver in due time, so stay tuned! Needless to say, some of the specifications mentioned above have also been ‘confirmed‘ by a South Korean publication yesterday. Obviously, although the stream of rumors seem to converge towards specific numbers and specs, nothing is absolutely certain before Samsung actually announces the Note 3.

GoPro’s Action Cameras Get More Social With iOS, Android App Update

Screen Shot 2013-07-30 at 12.40.29 PM

It now takes even less time to show off your mad shredding skills. With the latest update to the GoPro companion app, owners of the popular action cameras can now view, edit and, most importantly, share content from a smartphone or tablet.

The app is simple enough. It connects to GoPro cams through a WiFi signal, giving owners a large set of available tools. The cameras can be viewed and controlled from a smartphone or tablet, for one –this includes adjusting the dozens of available settings on each little guy. Owners can also view, manage and download content from the camera to their phones. From there, it can be shared like any other media. Upload the action to Geocities or FriendFeed like you would any other picture.

This update again shows how GoPro has long maintained its dominance in an increasingly competitive market. From offerings from major brands like Sony to upstarts building options for smartphones, the action camera market is getting awfully crowded. But GoPro has steadily released substantial updates to both its hardware and software to keep the products fresh. Combine that with the very aggressive targeted marketing and it’s clear how GoPro stays on top.

This update is available now and is compatible with the GoPro Hero3 and Hero2 cameras once updated to the latest firmware.

NVIDIA SHIELD launches this week: the mobile desktop gaming crossover

This week NVIDIA SHIELD launches, bringing the company’s vision for a high-powered mobile gaming device to the market with a console-quality physical controller attached to a flip-up display with Android under the hood. This machine will be shipping to customers who preordered this device starting Wednesday, while in-store availability also starts its spread this week at locations like GameStop, Microcenter, and Canada Computer. You’ll be seeing SlashGear’s full review soon, as well.

This device works with a 5-inch “retinal-quality” multi-touch display which flips up in clamshell fashion from a controller full of buttons. This device works with two custom-tuned bass reflex audio-pumping speakers, and users will have full access to Google Play for media, apps, and games.

NVIDIA SHIELD works with a massive number of Android games, NVIDIA providing a list of 100+ games compatible with the physical controls of this device right out of the box. You’ll be working with both wired and wireless connectivity options for projecting the content of SHIELD’s display as well, these including a mini-HDMI port on its back, Miracast wireless display mirroring, and PC streaming.

PC streaming remains in Beta at the moment, but will be pulled up to full strength sooner than later. This connectivity allows SHIELD to play full-powered PC games while synced with an NVIDIA GeForce GTX GPU-toting gaming computer over a Wi-fi connection. Below you’ll see our most recent demo with PC streaming, while above you’re seeing a bit of Android gaming from our first NVIDIA SHIELD hands-on and unboxing.

This device will be rolling out for $299 this week and will be coming out in a Wi-fi-only form. There’s just one internal storage size: 16GB, and you get a microSD card slot to expand all the way up to 64GB if you wish. Stay tuned for SlashGear’s big run-down, sooner than later!

Instagram reportedly blocking images uploaded through some third-party apps

Hipstamatic Oggl app users might want to rethink those subscriptions. Select Windows Phone 8 imaging apps, such as Instance, may no longer be able to upload images to Instagram’s photo sharing service. According to a spokesperson’s comment published on The Verge, the site has updated its API, restricting access to third-party apps in an effort to “fight spam to help prevent future attacks and increase security.” Images apparently still pop up on the platform, but are deleted seconds later. For now, it appears that the only way to share images on Instagram is to capture them directly within the app, or through a supported service like Hipstamatic Oggl, leaving some WP8 and BlackBerry users out in the cold. Let’s hope this unwelcome change means additional OS support is on the way.

Update: We spoke to an Instagram representative, who provided the same ambiguous response we’ve already seen reported. “We recently made an update to the systems that we use to fight spam to help prevent future attacks and increase security. As part of this, applications accessing Instagram against the terms of our API may also be affected. This update does not specifically target any particular app or platform.” Unfortunately, it’s not clear which apps are affected, including Hipstamatic Oggl, but we’re currently testing several third-party offerings and we’ll share our results shortly.

Update 2: We’ve managed to test Hipstamatic Oggl, and the app was successfully able to upload an image to Instagram. It appears that this new restriction is limited to apps that aren’t accessing the service in line with API requirements.

TARDIS Gemstone Ring: Time, Space and Bling

These TARDIS rings by Earth Art Gem and Jewelry make a big impression. They are classy and totally Timelord styled. They are perfect for a Whovian wedding, a convention or just everyday wear.

tardis rings

The Doctor himself would totally wear one of these. Or his companions. Each one is subtle, yet stunning and the band features the panes of the TARDIS in sterling silver. Too bad it isn’t gold, because then you could use it to kill a Cyberman.

Anyway, one of these rings will cost you $200-$400 (USD), which isn’t bad since they look so classy and elegant. Like your love of Doctor Who, it will last a lifetime.
