Upcoming iPhone Could Feature A7 Chip Made By Samsung

Upcoming iPhone Could Feature A7 Chip Made By SamsungEarlier today thanks to an observation made in the new iOS 7 beta that was recently seeded to developers, it was found that the upcoming iPad mini could feature an A6 processor, the same processor which is used by the iPhone 5. However with the iPhone 5S rumored to be in the works and could launch later this year, what will the new iPhone be using? Unsurprisingly it seems that the iPhone 5S could use an A7 chipset, thanks to developer Nick Frey who found references to a certain S5L8960X chip which presumably is that of the A7.

Given that Apple tends to provide hardware upgrades in its iPhone “S” devices, as opposed to a completely new phone, it is likely that this could be used in the upcoming iPhone 5S. As you can see in the screenshot above, the code makes references to Samsung which is interesting given that rumors earlier this year suggested that Apple would turn to TSMC for its A7 chips, and that Apple would return to Samsung only in 2015 for its A9 chips.

Jaguar XKR-S GT cracks Nurburgring record as ten more cars confirmed

Jaguar’s painfully powerful XKR-S GT has returned for another limited production run, with a further ten examples of the road-ready but track-prepared coupe set to go on sale. Following the thirty cars earmarked for North America at the New York International Auto Show earlier this year, Jaguar has revealed plans to bring the 545 HP […]

In new clip, Kutcher’s beard doesn’t do the Jobs

Does that look right to you?

(Credit: Jobs the Film/YouTube screenshot by Chris Matyszczyk/CNET)

You will either love the new “Jobs” movie with Ashton Kutcher. Or you will hate it.

Or you’ve still got a BlackBerry and you’re not sure who this Steve Jobs is.

For myself, I have always struggled with the notion of Kutcher as Jobs. I always feared that he was just too nice, too sweet, too all-the-things-I’d-like-to-be-but-am-not.

This is a man who melted the heart of a Ukrainian, for goodness’ sake. That takes some vast level of nice.

I worried, then, before looking at the latest piece of promotional footage emerging from the producers.

It’s partly a trailer and partly an official reminder that the actors really, really admired Jobs.

Diablo 3 Expansion Could Be Announced At Gamescom

Diablo 3 Expansion Could Be Announced At GamescomDiablo 3 gamers, chances are you have already completed the game several times over, maxed out all your character levels and right now you’re probably just farming for more gear or have stopped playing the game entirely. Well if you were hoping for an expansion to the game, it seems that you might be getting some details about it come Gamescom 2013. This is thanks to a recent bout of emails being sent out to various sites that informed them that there will be a Diablo 3 discussion panel held at Gamescom, and in that email it reads that Blizzard will be making a “special announcement”.

It was previously speculated that Blizzard will only introduce the expansion in November at the developer’s own event, BlizzCon, which they normally do, so it is interesting that they might have chosen Gamescon to announce it. Blizzard’s own Nick Carpenter’s recent tweet seemingly confirms this as it reads, “wrapped another amazing cinematic. Can’t wait to show the world!” In any case hopefully we are looking at a Diablo 3 expansion here, as opposed to maybe a card game based on the Diablo universe, but either way be sure to check back with us during Gamescom for all the details!

Canon’s 21st August Event Might Not Reveal Anything “High End” [Rumor]

Canons 21st August Event Might Not Reveal Anything High End [Rumor]The other day we reported that Canon had sent out invites to an event for the 21st of August, and we’re sure many are wondering what Canon might have in store for us. Some are speculating that perhaps we will be seeing higher-end products launch, like a new EOS M camera, or possible the EOS 7D MK II. Unfortunately it turns out that the event might not be as exciting after all, at least as far as professional photographers are concerned, because according to a source who spoke to Canon Rumors, they were informed that the 21st of August event will not unveil anything high-end, but rather it could be used to announce new PowerShot cameras and possible more details about the Project 1709 photo management service, which some believe could be the reason why the invite feature a cloud as opposed to an EOS, PowerShot, or EF logo which Canon has used in the past. In any case we will definitely be keeping our eyes peeled for more information, but check back with us on the 21st of August for the details!

eTeleporter iPad Accessory Hopes To Bring Eye-To-Eye Contact On FaceTime

eTeleporter iPad Accessory Hopes To Bring Eye To Eye Contact On FaceTime

Let’s face it, when you webcam or FaceTime with a friend or family member, you look at the screen where their faces are at, and they look at their screen. However due to the placement of the webcam, it is “impossible” to actually look them directly in the eye as you would in real life. Granted this isn’t exactly a big deal, but in case you actually want to have that eye-to-eye contact and you aren’t able to meet up in real life, a Kickstarter project for a device called the eTeleporter should help solve that problem! It is essentially a plastic housing for the iPad that uses mirrors cleverly angled that will allow you to look eye-to-eye at the person you are talking to.

eTeleporter is a project by Prompt Video’s Hernan Giraldo who is actually the Vice President of National Sales at Alcatel-Lucent. According to Giraldo, this project was made possible thanks to a hiring of someone with a PhD in optical sciences to help construct the device. It was not as easy to put together as you might think, not just sticking a bunch of mirrors into a case, as it requires a lot of planning and testing to make sure that it works as intended. The project is currently seeking funding of $100,000 and if you’d like to learn more or help get it funded, hit up its Kickstarter page for the details.

Wii U sales plummet: Just 160,000 sold in last quarter

Nintendo sold just 160,000 Wii U units in the last quarter, a huge slump of more than 50-percent compared to the previous three month period. The sluggish demand, which bring total lifetime sales of the Wii U to 3.61m units, was blamed on “few key first-party titles” by Nintendo [pdf link], with a mere 1.03m […]

Trakdot cellular-based luggage tracker now shipping after delay

We got a look at the nifty little Trakdot luggage tracking device back in January during CES 2013, and as promised it went up for pre-order in March. At the time, a late-June shipping date was given, but things were delayed and a few extra weeks went by uneventful. The company has updated on why
