CAIRO, July 2 (Reuters) – Egyptian President Mohamed Mursi believes a statement by the head of the armed forces setting a deadline for politicians to forge a consensus risks causing confusion and will stick to his own plan for national reconciliation, his office said in a statement on Tuesday.
Noting that Mursi was not consulted in advance by the general who made the announcement, the presidency said it “sees that some of the statements in it carry meanings that could cause confusion in the complex national environment”.
“The presidency confirms that it is going forward on its path which it planned before to hold comprehensive national reconciliation … in response to the aspirations of the great Egyptian people and regardless of any statements that deepen divisions between citizens,” it said. A video of police shooting a dog to death in front of its owner has gone viral after being posted to Reddit Monday afternoon.
The dog owner, Leon Rosby, was taking video of police officers in Hawthorne, Calif. as they barricaded a house, CBS reports.
Another bystander behind Rosby was recording him, and can be heard saying that Rosby asked the police why there weren’t any black cops present. This drew the attention of two Hawthorne police officers, who started to approach Rosby.

Jubilant gay and lesbian couples flocked to city halls and county courthouses across California on Monday to wed with pets, siblings and kids in tow as same-sex marriages resumed across the state following a five-year legal hiatus.
Monday was the first chance for all but a handful of the state’s same-sex couples to wed since 2008, when about 18,000 marriages went forward during a brief legal window before a voter-approved ban.
