Posted in: Today's ChiliFacebook’s now out of beta and ready for primetime on Windows Phone 8, Microsoft announced today. It’s known as Facebook 5.0 and, aside from exiting beta, the latest version of Facebook for Windows Phone adds a revamped UI, as well as, “improved navigation, support for high-res pictures, post sharing, Facebook Timeline view, and more.” Should you wish to continue living just ahead of the rest of Facebook’s Windows Phone 8 userbase, a beta version of Facebook will remain in the Windows Phone store — it promises a look at “pre-release software.” We also wouldn’t be too surprised if this is a good look into what that upcoming Windows 8 app will look like. In any event, as you might expect, Facebook 5.0 for Windows Phone 8 is free and available now at the source link below.

Today, we take for granted the ability to send photos halfway around the world in an instant. (Which is probably why that popular smartphone photograph service is called Instant-Gram™.) But a century ago, getting a photograph across an ocean was a much more involved process than simply snapping a mirror selfie and publishing it to 3,000 of your closest friends.
Smartwatches may just now be gaining popularity, but they’ve been available for quite some time now. TomTom has already gone in on the watch fad, announcing new wrist wearables earlier this year. The company has now revealed availability and pricing details for its new Runner and Multi-Sport smartwatches. First off, the TomTom Runner watch is
The president of Microsoft’s Interactive Entertainment Business, Don Mattrick, is leaving the company according to a report at AllThingsD. His division oversees the Xbox gaming properties as well as the company’s peripheral gaming initiatives. He’s most recently known as the man who introduced the world to the Xbox One, as he took the stage on Microsoft’s campus this past May to introduce the controller, next-gen Kinect sensor, and new console. He’s been with the IEB department since 2010. He’s gotten in trouble with consumers lately, after he gave dismissive answers about the Xbox One’s always online policy and $499 price point. He’s also the man who wrote Microsoft’s public DRM reversal letter.
Furthermore, ATD says Mattrick could be headed to social gaming giant Zynga; the Bay Area-based company declined a comment to our sister site Joystiq. It’s unclear who would step in to Mattrick’s spot if he is indeed leaving. We’ve yet to hear back from Microsoft, though we’ll update this post when we hear more.
Update: It’s offical. He’s the new CEO of Zynga, and you can read all about it right here.

Doctor Who has become sort of like an icon among his many fans, with the show inspiring a whole range of products and mods, like the Doctor Who wall clock, Dalek planter, and TARDIS bunk bed.
A Kickstarter campaign inspired by the show was recently successfully funded, but it’s not for another Doctor Who-themed product. Instead, it’s a campaign that will be sending a real-life TARDIS into space – as cargo on a commercial satellite launch.
The 50th anniversary of Doctor Who is coming up (it’s on November 23rd) and what better way to commemorate the event than by sending the Doctor’s space and time machine into orbit?
The miniature TARDIS satellite has already been built and it’s equipped with a GoPro Hero 3 which will be recharged by solar panels (hidden in the police booth windows) that have been set up to provide it with power indefinitely. The team behind the launch hopes to get some nice photos of Earth from orbit, and they’re offering data space on the TARDIS as rewards for the backers of the campaign.
It’s about time someone made this happen! Now they just need to figure out how to get it to work as a time machine.
