Galaxy S4 And Galaxy S4 Mini With Dual Mode LTE Expected To Release In Q3

Galaxy S4 And Galaxy S4 Mini With Dual Mode LTE Expected To Release In Q3

Samsung is apparently not done with releasing variants of its latest flagship Android smartphone. There’s the conventional Galaxy S4, then there’s a Galaxy S4 Active, Galaxy S4 Zoom and a “faster” Galaxy S4 with LTE-A support. According to a new report, the company might be releasing new variants of its Galaxy S4 and Galaxy S4 Mini smartphones in the third quarter of this year. The only difference in these new variants will reportedly be support for dual mode LTE.

Dual mode LTE capability would be particularly useful for those who travel a lot. It allows the device to switch between TDD and FDD LTE 4G networks. FDD LTE networks are the common standard in a lot of countries around the world, whereas adoption of TDD LTE is said to increase in the U.S., Australia and China in the near future. The adoption is also likely to increase in regions such as Southwest Asis, the Middle East as well as Northern and Eastern Europe. It is said that Samsung will release the new variants of both Galaxy S4 and Galaxy S4 Mini worldwide in Q3, 2013.

Verizon HTC One Release Slated For August 15th

Verizon HTC One Release Slated For August 15th

Verizon has still not revealed to its current and prospective customers when it plans on finally releasing the HTC One. Other major carriers in the U.S. have already been carrying the device for quite a few months now, Verizon is yet to launch yet. We had heard a lot of rumors recently that pegged the release of this smartphone on August 1st, but apparently that’s not going to happen. Droid-Life has reportedly received a document in which the Verizon HTC One release date has been slated for August 15th.

One might argue that the delay in launching this smartphone on Verizon would result in lackluster customer interest. That might be true to some extent, given the fact that Verizon recently announced its new Droid lineup. Furthermore, the carrier is said to be one of the four that are reportedly going to carry the Moto X at launch. So Verizon customers would have quite a lot of options to choose from. At this point in time, probably those who just want a HTC One on Verizon are anxiously waiting for the carrier to launch it. Verizon still hasn’t revealed the exact release date for the HTC One.

XKeyscore Is NSA’s “Widest Reaching” Program For Collecting Data Online

XKeyscore Is NSAs Widest Reaching Program For Collecting Data Online

By now you might have heard of NSA’s data collection programs. The leaks started over a month ago when a former CIA technical analyst, Edward Snowden, leaked documents pertaining to NSA’s PRISM program. We then saw documents related to NSA’s Boundless Informant tool. Snowden has now leaked a cache of documents about yet another program of the National Security Agency, a program that allows it to collect “nearly everything” an individual does on the internet. The program is called XKeyscore, and according to an alleged NSA document, its the agency’s “widest reaching” program.

PSA: Windows Phones to lose Google Sync activation on August 1st

PSA Windows Phones without GDR2 lose sync for new Google accounts tomorrow

Windows Phone users who want to use Google Sync for contact and calendar integration had better act quickly: today is the last day that they can link their handsets to the service before Google pulls the plug. From August 1st onwards, Google Sync will only work on a given Windows Phone if it’s already configured. The GDR 2 upgrade keeps syncing alive through CalDAV and CardDAV support, although many users could go without that support for some time — to date, Americans can only see the OS refresh on the HTC 8XT, Lumia 520, Lumia 925 and Lumia 1020. If you’re not in that group and miss the Google Sync deadline, you’ll just have to sit tight while Microsoft finishes rolling out the GDR 2 update this summer.

Non Retina iPad Mini With A6 Processor Reportedly Being Tested

Non Retina iPad Mini With A6 Processor Reportedly Being Tested

No one knows for sure right now what Apple’s plans are with regards to its second generation iPad mini. We’ve heard a lot of rumors claim that the company will release a Retina display touting iPad mini, whereas others believe that a non Retina version will be released this year and that the Retina one will come in 2014. A developer has apparently sent proof of references in iOS 7 SDK to 9to5Mac that hint at the possibility of Apple testing a non Retina display iPad mini that is powered by an A6 processor. The system-on-chip is similar to the one inside iPhone 5.

Three variants of this particular iPad mini are apparently being tested. Codenamed J75, J76 and J77, one of these is a Wi-Fi only variant whereas the other two are said to be cellular compatible. The nomenclature for current iPad mini variants is iPad “2,5,” iPad “2,6,” and iPad “2,7.” The nomenclature for these new non Retina variants is iPad “2,8,” iPad “2,9,” and iPad “2,10.” Having the same A6 processor as the iPhone 5 would no doubt greatly improve performance on the tablet. Though one can’t take this as a confirmation that Apple is going to announce non Retina iPad mini this year. There exists a possibility that these variants might be limited to the testing stage, because right now, no one is discounting the Retina display touting second generation iPad mini.

Red Flags: Would You Date Someone Who Was Newly Separated?

Dating after divorce is tricky. First you have to figure out if you’re really ready to get back out there, then you have to find someone you’d actually want to date — and good luck scheduling that date if you both have kids.

But one of the biggest conundrums for divorced daters, as far as we’re concerned, is deciding whether it’s worth pursuing someone who’s only recently separated from his or her spouse.

That’s the exact problem The Frisky writer Abby Cooper grappled with when a date let it slip that he was recently separated — really recently. He told Cooper that he and his wife had decided to end their marriage the night before the date. Biggest red flag ever, right?
