Mario And Luigi Perform Parkour In Real Life

While games like Mirror’s Edge and Assassin’s Creed clearly involve a lot of free running and parkour, we’re not sure the same could be said about Mario games. Then again Mario does jump a lot from and while his actions aren’t exactly parkour, we suppose it could be thought of that way. In a new video that has made its way onto the internet, it features both Mario and Luigi performing parkour in real life! It’s pretty entertaining as it shows both stuntmen jumping from location to location, all the while performing various Mario “moves”, such as bumping bricks, collecting coins, going down pipes, and etc.

The stuntmen featured in the video are none other than Ronnie Shalvis and Christian Russell, the former is the star of two Assassin’s Creed related parkour videos, and both are from the CBR Stunts team. If that name sounds familiar, it’s because another team mate by the name of Chris Romwell recently featured in an Assassin’s Creed 4 parkour video which was just as impressive. In any case if you have a few minutes to spare, this is one video worth checking out.

Samsung exec confirms Galaxy Gear and Note III announcement on September 4th as images start to leak (updated)

Samsung exec confirms Galaxy Gear and Note III announcement on September 4th as images start to leak updated

The cat’s out of the bag, and a rogue Samsung executive is the one who’s been untying the strings. During a chat with the Korea Times, Samsung’s Lee Young-hee blabbed that we’d see both the Galaxy Gear and the Galaxy Note III being announced at IFA on September 4th. The mobile VP added that the oft-rumored “wearable concept device” wouldn’t come with a flexible display and will be a companion gadget for your smartphone — but declined to offer any more detail about what we can expect from the flagship phablet. Never mind, however, because pictures purporting to be of the Galaxy Note III’s front have emerged over on HD Blog, and you can catch a full gallery down at the source.

Update: Here’s even more pictures purporting to be of the Note III from ETradeSupply. The site is claiming that the third generation device will measure in at 5.69-inches. [Thanks, Lucas]

Apple Patents Smart Home And Media Center Remote Control Via iPhone

    iphone-smart-remote

The fabled Apple television set is still a fable, lo these many years after it first was whispered into the waiting ear of an analyst or blogger, but today Apple has secured a new patent (via AppleInsider) which could renew interest in rumors of Apple’s television plans, since it describes an iPhone-based remote control system for completely setting up a home theatre system tailored to specific types of content, moods and themes.

Apple’s multimedia system/smart home-type remote would be able to recall, store and set things like lighting, channels, music and window shades as well as set stereo components like amplifiers and more to desired settings. It’s essentially a Logitech Harmony universal remote, with settings like “Watch a movie” or “Play a game” very similar to those available on Logitech’s highly customizable home theater control devices, but with a lot more options and features thrown into the mix, and a control scheme that extends to connected home devices, which could conceivably include things like Philips Hue connected lighting system.

The system also has some neat automated components, like suggesting themes and whole home settings based on metadata associated with content being watched. This means that you don’t have to sit down with intent aforehand to watch something and choose the appropriate theme – while you’re browsing or channel surfing, and if you happen to light upon something you seem to like, the system could suggest an appropriate mode to go with it. So if you get sucked into Spartacus, for instance, Apple’s iPhone-based multimedia concierge could offer to change your system over to the idea setting for classical epics with a single tap.

Apple’s patent appears to be designed to work with content sources including broadcast television, since it contains a provision for waiting for a commercial break before it even offers up any kind of scene suggestions at all, so it could definitely be included in any kind of over-the-top service that the Mac maker might have in the hopper. The patent application itself is quite a few years old, which might be reason enough to suspect this idea has been shelved, but at the time of its original filing it also would’ve looked a lot more science fiction than it does given today’s technology.

SMS Racing Simulator Teaches You The Danger Of Texting And Driving

We know that texting and driving can lead to unintended consequences and is generally speaking a big no-no, and if you’re looking for a way to teach your kids that texting and driving at the same time is not a good idea, perhaps this video game might be of some use to you. Basically Holden Link has designed a video game in which the gamer has to attempt to reply text messages while driving around a race track. The entire thing is simulated on the computer, so fret not as the only accident that will happen is on the computer where no one will die or get injured.

To make things more “challenging”, the game also has a 10 second timer in which you are asked to reply the message, after which it tells you that you are “rude” for not doing so, although admittedly it is pretty rude not to mention dangerous to text and drive at the same time, but we think you get the drift. The game itself is free of charge so if you’d like to take it for a spin, hit up Holden Link’s website for the download. In the meantime you can get an idea of what the game is about by checking out the video above. What do you guys think? Is this an effective method to teaching society about the dangers of texting and driving?

Xbox One Rumored For 8th November Release

Xbox One Rumored For 8th November ReleaseSony’s PlayStation 4 has been announced for a release on the 15th of November, but what about Microsoft’s Xbox One? At the moment nothing official has been said regarding the Xbox One’s release, but thanks to a new rumor, it looks like the 8th of November could be a possible release date, a good one week before the PlayStation 4 hits the shelves of retailers and the home of gamers. This is thanks to a source of Kotaku who works for a signage and product placement company whose clients include Walmart, and according to an email that they were forwarded, the 8th of November release date for the Xbox One was listed.

However unlike the rest of the products that were confirmed, like the PlayStation 4 for example, the Xbox One’s release date did not have the “confirm” tag next to it, suggesting that either Microsoft has yet to finalize the date, or if Walmart is merely speculating on a possible release date. We wouldn’t be surprised if it were the latter, but at the same time it wouldn’t be a stretch of the imagination if both consoles were released around the same time as the other. In any case don’t get your hopes up just yet, and hopefully Microsoft will be making an announcement soon.

In fact just last week Sony started teasing us with photos of the device, but in a new tweet via Sony Xperia’s Twitter account, a teaser video has been released and it more or less shows off the entire device in all of its glory. MyID Band files your medical records away on your wrist

    wristband-myID

When we’re young, we think we’re invincible. Other people get sick, other people break bones, but not us. We’re going to live forever. Naturally, this feeling fades as the years move on, and we start thinking about what would happen if we were to get into an accident, and we were rushed to the hospital, without anyone knowing who we are. Without a complete medical history, the doctors won’t know about allergies, or potential health conditions you might have. It’s a scary thought. So what do you do?

The MyID Band from LifeStrength is one way to ensure that should something terrible happen, the doctors will be able to quickly and easily look up your information, and make sure that you get the best possible treatment for your condition. All anyone needs to do is scan the QR code on the bracelet, and they’ll instantly have access to your medical history, and a list of emergency contacts.

If for whatever reason someone isn’t able to scan the QR code, there is a number to call, and an ID and PIN to get the records over the phone. The band is available in three different colors, and is adjustable to almost any size. You’ll also get a wallet card, and stickers for your car and home, just in case you don’t happen to be wearing your band when something bad happens. If you’re concerned about allergies or complications that might not be readily apparent to the ER staff, then you can pick up one of these bands for $40.

Sony teases likely Xperia Z1 Honami device on video, confirms September 4th arrival

Sony teases likely Xperia Z1 Honami device on video, confirms September 4th arrival

It appears that Sony is about to finally put an end to the rampant Honami smartphone speculation on September 4th. It just released a teaser video showing various oblique angles of the camera-centric handset, rumored to be called the Xperia Z1. Previous reports pointed to a 21-megapixel sensor, 4K shooting capability, a Snapdragon 800 processor, and a 5-inch, 1080p display. The video after the break shows its apparent waterproof talents as well, so a September 4th launch would put an end to the all the leaking.
