Time Warner Cable handing out free TV antennas and store credit during CBS blackout

Time Warner Cable handing out TV antennas, store credit during CBS blackout

Time Warner Cable may not be in a rush to end the CBS blackout, but it’s not leaving subscribers out in the cold. The TV provider is now giving away a “limited quantity” of basic TV antennas in the Dallas, Green Bay, Los Angeles, Milwaukee and New York City regions. For those who don’t snag a free antenna, the company is also offering $20 in credit toward buying a unit at certain Best Buy stores in those same cities. These sorts of stopgap measures aren’t new, but they may provide some comfort to TWC viewers who aren’t likely to watch CBS channels through cable anytime soon.

This Comprehensive Map Traces 463 of the Bible's Contradictions

No matter what your beliefs, it’s hard to deny that the era in which the Bible takes place was a more, uh, brutal time, filled with plagues, salt pillars, and excessive murders—plus plenty of conflicting moral diktats from the man himself. Now, one designer has built a handy map to help us navigate the text.

Texting And Driving Results In Man Crashing Into Manure Truck

If you’re as much of a fan of the Back to the Future films as we are, you’ll know one of the most iconic scenes from all of the films was when Biff Tannen crashed his car into the back of a manure truck, resulting in a tidal wave of dung being emptied out into his vehicle. Up until today, we thought this could never, ever happen, but the power of the Internet has once again proved the impossible will always be possible. (more…)

iHeart Diary Electronic Locket for the modern day diary author

iheartWe have seen something called the iHeart Dock in the past, but this time around, here we are with the $24.99 iHeart Diary Electronic Locket which will be something different, as you would look downright weird if you were to dock an entire iPod onto your necklace, no? That would have to be one large necklace to begin with in the first place, and the iHeart Diary Electronic Locket is something which the fairer sex would definitely appreciate – as it allows you to pen down your thoughts in an unconventional way. All you need to do is talk to it, and it will “write” down what you say.

Just how does it work? Basically, the iHeart Diary Electronic Locket functions as a key to your electronic diary. All you need to do is to push a button on the locket, and it will send a special code to the iHeart Locket Diary App which is a free download. This particular app would enable you to shoot photos, capture voice memos and notes, among others, so that you can have all of those pleasant memories tucked away for posterity. Android device owners will have to sit this one out, as it is compatible only with iOS devices.

    Bēm Wireless Boom Box: Boomtooth

There are plenty of Bluetooth boom boxes available, but I have to say that this one from Bēm looks quite interesting. The overall shape is reminiscent of a traditional boom box, and the handle will let you lug it around quite easily from place to place.

The Bēm Wireless Boom Box looks like it belongs in 2001: A Space Odyssey, and it delivers quite a bit of punch for your mobile devices, with a top output of 105dB. It will last 10 hours on a charge, and comes with a 3.5mm audio port to directly connect your devices as well. There are only three buttons on the speaker, play/pause, volume up and volume down.

The Bēm Wireless Boom Box retails for $249.99(USD), and it’s available in black or white.

Motorola Droid Ultra review: a phone that doesn’t need to exist

Motorola Droid Ultra review the phone that never needed to exist

After roughly nine months of almost complete radio silence, Google-owned Motorola suddenly sprang into action by announcing four devices in the space of eight days. The lineup of new smartphones included the much-hyped Moto X and a fresh crop of Droid-branded handsets for Verizon. Interestingly enough, this quadruplet shares many of the same specs; aside from exterior design, screen and battery size, there’s very little to distinguish Motorola’s latest offerings. The first out of the gate is the Droid Ultra, a 5-inch 720p model wrapped in Kevlar. All told, it’s more of a mid-range phone, though its on-contract price of $200 would suggest otherwise.

The Droid Ultra is arguably the closest cousin to the Moto X, and because the two have basically the same specs and price, we’ve been scratching our heads trying to figure out why Motorola needed to make both. Still, we did our due diligence in giving the Ultra the full review treatment. How does it differentiate from Moto’s flagship, and does it hold any sort of advantage? Is the device worth paying $200 and agreeing to a two-year contract? Read on as we answer these questions and more. %Gallery-slideshow73296%
