Netflix has added a feature called "My List" that lets you save the stuff you want to watch later on your streaming account. It’s basically a smarter Instant Queue that automatically updates your picks on a row or in a gallery, and magically sorts these titles based on which ones you are most likely to watch next.

Sure, Microsoft’s battle for next-gen supremacy starts in November, but those who lean on Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 for their gaming just got a little something to look forward to. Gameloft is readying a total of 15 games that’ll arrive within the next 12 months and launch simultaneously on both platforms. Before the year’s up, you can expect to see Asphalt 8: Airborne, Despicable Me: Minion Rush, Dungeon Hunter 4, Six Guns, Total Conquest and UNO & Friends, with the remaining games breaking cover next year. The recently-acquired Amiga Games will churn out 50 titles of its own onto Microsoft’s desktop and mobile OS before year’s end, and could bump the total up to 500 afterwards. Details on which games we’ll see first weren’t divulged, but the outfit says they’ll make use of the operating system’s features such as live tiles and Snap and Share, as well as cross-platform data sharing. Thanks to DVRs, you can watch your favorite TV shows anytime you want. TiVo’s new Roamio line of DVRs will let you watch anywhere you want as well. The Roamio DVRs let you record four to six shows at once. They also integrate with the TiVo app so you can browse shows and schedule recordings on an iOS or Android device. Best of all, you can stream or download media on an iOS device. But all of this wizardry comes at a price.
The first potential dealbreaker with Roamio is in figuring out which model to get, because the DVR has three models. There’s the Roamio, the Roamio Plus and the Roamio Pro. The Roamio can’t stream or upload media to mobile devices on its own. You’ll need to buy the TiVo Stream to get that feature. The Pro and the Plus on the other hand both have that streaming functionality built-in. But if you’re using an HD antenna, the Roamio is your only choice because the Plus and the Pro will only work with a Cablecard from your Cable TV provider.
If you’ve emerged from the jungle of jargon and you’re still interested in getting a Roamio, it’s time for the good parts. As I said, all three models work with the TiVo mobile app so you can browse shows and schedule recordings even if you’re not in front of your TV. The Roamio can record up to four shows at once, while the Plus and the Pro can both record up to six shows at once.
All three models also have Wi-Fi connectivity, although they still have Ethernet ports.
As I mentioned above, the Pro and the Plus will let you stream or download media to iOS devices. For now, this only works while you’re on your home network. But TiVo will soon add a software update that extends this feature to any Wi-Fi connection. Both the Pro and the Plus will also get an update that will allow you to watch live TV from an iOS device. In fact the only difference between the Plus and the Pro are their hard drives. The Pro has a 3TB drive while the Plus “only” has a 1TB drive, but since all three models have two USB ports, I’d say save your cash and get the Plus. You can connect additional storage as you need it.
You can order the Roamio, Roamio Plus and Roamio Pro from Amazon, Best Buy or directly from Tivo. The Roamio costs $200 (USD), the Roamio Plus costs $400 and the Roamio Pro costs $600. But you also have to sign up for TiVo’s service, which is another $15 a month. Whew. And that’s the TiVo Roamio line: confusing and a bit costly, but convenient. Now I know why people love Netflix so much.

A team including a number of NASA JPL employees, working on their own, has built an art car for Burning Man that is based on the famous Curiosity Rover that touched down on Mars just over a year ago.

If you happen to be wandering around a certain martian-like landscape next week and see the Curiosity Rover drive by, don’t worry about your air supply.
Though you might be in a mindset to think you’re on Mars, you’re really at Burning Man, the annual countercultural arts festival held each summer in Nevada’s Black Rock Desert. But your eyes aren’t deceiving you: That is the Curiosity Rover. Well, at least an art car built by a group including members of NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory meant to pay homage to the rover that landed on Mars a year ago, and which has since then been prowling the Red Planet, beaming back all kinds of amazing photography.
The team, known as the Desert Wizards of Mars, is led by Charles White, who works at JPL, though on the art car’s Web site he cautions that the project is being done outside of NASA’s auspices.

Crazy contact lenses were once the sole provenance of Hollywood special-effects departments, but now all sorts of geeky fantasies can be fulfilled with decorative lenses. Gaze through the Batman signal. Glower with Voldemort red eyes. Wink with the Eye of Sauron.
There are a few safety issues to keep in mind about wearing decorative contact lenses. You’re dealing with your eyes, an important part of your body you don’t want to screw up for the sake of looking a little more like Voldemort for a few hours.
Visit an eye doctor first, even if your vision is 20/20. Legitimate sources of decorative contact lenses in the U.S. will request a copy of your prescription prior to the sale. Look for lenses with FDA approval and follow usage instructions. For example, your green Incredible Hulk contacts probably aren’t rated for wearing overnight, so don’t leave them in.
