The Pogo Concept Is The MagSafe Equivalent For Earphones

We’re sure many of you guys have experienced getting your earphone cables caught on something, like the edge of the table, the door handle, and etc., and the result is either the cables getting yanked out violently from your device, or it could pull the device from your pocket or hands and make it crash to the floor. However wouldn’t it be great if there were a way to connect our earphones to our media devices without worrying about that? Something like Apple’s MagSafe adapter where it would disconnect without causing the device to crash to the floor? Well that’s what the Pogo concept aims to achieve.

According to the Pogo’s description, “Using a neodymium magnet and 4 “pogo” pins, a strong connection is made between the two pieces, passing the signal through. The end result is a product that is universally useful, and innovates a technology that hasn’t changed much since its inception in the 60′s.” Essentially it would be similar to the MagSafe adapter in which the cable would disconnect if too much force is applied on it, but at the same time strong enough so that it will not disconnect too easily. Unfortunately the Pogo is a concept meaning that there’s no telling if and when it would be made a reality, but in the meantime you can check it out in the video above.

Samsung And LG To Mass Produce Flexible Displays In November

Samsung And LG To Mass Produce Flexible Displays In NovemberWe have been hearing a fair amount of news regarding flexible displays since a couple of years ago, and that companies such as Samsung and LG could begin manufacturing and shipping them this year. In fact Samsung showed off its Youm flexible OLED displays earlier this year during CES 2013, so we wouldn’t be surprised if production is expected to begin, if it hasn’t begun already. Well according to a report out of Korea, word has it that both Samsung and LG are expected to begin mass producing their flexible display panels starting from November this year.

Both companies are expected to produce around 1.5 million units of 5 to 6” panels and are expected to increase production should there be a demand for it. What this means is that there might not be as many smartphones with flexible displays in the market at the start, which we guess would make sense since both companies would probably want to test the waters first. No word on what sort of devices we can expect from either Samsung or LG, but assuming the November production date is accurate, there is a good chance that a formal announcement of devices with flexible displays could be made during CES 2014, or maybe MWC 2014 at the latest.

Diablo 3 Expansion Trailer At But Confirmed For Debut At Gamescom

Diablo 3 Expansion Trailer At But Confirmed For Debut At GamescomJust last week a Diablo 3 teaser page was released with the title, Reaper of Souls. It was hinted that this could be the upcoming expansion for Blizzard’s action RPG, Diablo 3, and in case you were thinking that it might be something else despite previous hints, it looks like the expansion can be confirmed, and that the trailer itself will be shown off at Gamescom which is taking place in Germany. This is thanks to the German classification board who posted classification details. The posting was titled “D3 D3C & D3XP (gamescom Trailer)” with its publisher listed as Blizzard Entertainment SAS, and the genre being referred to as “trailer”.

The fact that the title itself says “D3XP” is pretty much a dead giveaway, not to mention Blizzard’s own Nick Carpenter was quoted last week as saying, “Wrapped another amazing cinematic. Can’t wait to show the world!” all but confirms the expansion. In any case we expect it shouldn’t be too long before the trailer makes its debut, so be sure to check back with us later for the details and hopefully a video as well! So, who else is excited about the upcoming Diablo 3 expansion?

Rick Perry Seeks Obamacare Funding For Texans

Texas Gov. Rick Perry (R), a longstanding Obamacare critic, is negotiating a $100 million health care deal with the Obama administration, Politico reported on Tuesday.

The Community First Choice Program, aimed at improving the quality of health services for the elderly and disabled, was approved by the Texas legislature earlier this year. Perry health aides are now looking to the Obama administration for funding.

Perry has been a strident Obamacare critic from the beginning, but his spokesman explained that the funding pitch is about aiding people with disabilities, independent of a health insurance mandate.

Apple’s iPad Market Share In China Slips to 28%

Apples iPad Market Share In China Slips to 28%Apple’s iPad for the past few years has been considered the tablet to beat, although recent reports seem to suggest that the Cupertino company’s tablet could be losing its grip on the market and lose market share to the likes to their Android competitors. Well thanks to a recent report from the IDG News Service, it certainly seems that is the case as far as the Chinese market is concerned. While Apple has typically maintained more than a 50% market share in China, the latest figures show that Apple’s iPad market share has experienced a drastic drop to about 28%.

However for Apple and iPad fans around the world, it is not all that bleak as 28% still puts Apple way ahead of the competition from the likes of Samsung who shipped around 11%, Lenovo at 8%, and other manufacturers at around 1% each. According to the report, some reasons why the iPad’s market share could be slipping is due to the affordability of tablets from Android competitors not just from Samsung or Lenovo, but “white box” vendors who are putting out low-cost tablets that appeal to those shopping on a budget. Will Apple’s iPad market share continue to slip or will Apple be able to pull themselves back up? We guess only time can tell!

BlackBerry Porsche Design P’9982 Images Spotted In OS Build

BlackBerry Porsche Design P9982 Images Spotted In OS BuildOver the past couple of weeks, we have seen several hints and leaks that suggested that BlackBerry could be working on a Porsche Design version of the BlackBerry Z10, and with all the evidence we’ve seen so far, we’d be surprised if they did not announce the device in the near future. Now thanks to a sighting within the BlackBerry OS 10.2.0.1371 which has yet to be released to the public, more evidence of the Porsche Design BlackBerry Z10 has been sighted, and according to reports, they appear to be renders of the device which could possibly be from tutorials within the operating system.

While the image above does not say anything about it being a Porsche Design, the way the handset has been designed, along with the Porsche font, and the model number P’9982 (successor to the P’9981) seems to suggest otherwise. Unfortunately there are no images of the front of the device as these images appear to be part of a tutorial on how to insert a memory card and connecting the device to a charger. No word on when BlackBerry will announce the P’9982, but hopefully it will be soon and we can only imagine it will be announced alongside the BlackBerry Z30, so stay tuned for more updates!

Instagram Cracking Down On Apps That Use “Insta” Or “Gram” In Their Names

Instagram Cracking Down On Apps That Use Insta Or Gram In Their NamesWhile Instagram is no doubt a popular app, there are third-party Instagram apps out there who are no doubt trying to capitalize on its success by using “Insta” or “gram” in their names to associate themselves with the app. This practice has been going on for quite a while now and it seems that Instagram is not too thrilled about it and has since updated its brand guidelines that warns its customers and developers not to use terms such as “Instagram”, “IG”, “Insta”, and “Gram” in the app name. It also tells developers to not use logos that are similar to Instagram or use the Instagram stylized font to name their product.

As it stands Instagram has begun sending out emails to apps that they believe to have violated their brand guidelines, and one of them is the Luxogram app who sent the email to TechCrunch. Instagram app for Windows Phone, 6tagram, has also renamed itself to 6tag as per Instagram’s guidelines, according to its developer. Given that Instagram’s parent company, Facebook, has been pretty strict when it comes to cracking down on similar names as well, we guess it was only a matter of time before this practice was passed down to them as well.

Galaxy S III mini expected at AT&T, for reasons unknown

Galaxy S III mini expected at AT&T, for reasons unknown

We can’t say we’re in love with Samsung’s Galaxy S III mini, especially with a next-gen model already official. But if today’s @evleaks post is to be believed, last year’s not-so-brightest star in the Galaxy will be coming to AT&T. The date on the render up above is fixed on August 23rd, which is when we’re expecting the Galaxy Mega to make its US debut, so there’s a chance we might see the GS III mini then as well. Still unknown is why AT&T would be bringing a humdrum 2012 handset to subscribers this late in the game, but if it does hit retailers this summer, it better come in with a MSRP far below handsets we’d actually recommend. Like, say, the Galaxy S 4.
