EA launches Boss Mode for ‘Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare’ on Xbox One (video)

EA announces Plants vs Zombies Boss Mode, lets you control your shambling hordes

On top of showing off the new graphics for the upcoming Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare blockbuster, EA has announced a Boss Mode at its Gamescon 2013 liveblog, exclusively for the Xbox One. A trailer for the new feature showed a Svengali-like being controlling his zombie hordes while discussing plans for world domination, all with stunning in-engine graphics (see the video after the break). EA said you’ll be able be able to use Boss Mode with SmartGlass and Kinect for the Xbox One when it arrives, mirroring an earlier Fighter Within announcement. Meanwhile, Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare will debut on the Xbox One and Xbox 360 first, and pre-orders are now live for $30 on Origin, at the source.

Dragon Age: Inquisition Releasing Fall 2014

[Update: We’ve updated this story to include the developer diary shown at Gamescom today.]

Bioware announced Dragon Age: Inquisition late last year, which we learned earlier this year it would be using DICE’s Frostbite 3 engine,  which if you’ve seen demos of Battlefield 4, you’ll know exactly why this is a big deal.     Verizon service coming to 36 NYC subway stations later this year

    When it rains it pours — and pouring rain only stops New York City’s 100-year-old mass transit system some of the time. Following its fellow carriers underground, Verizon this morning let it be know that it has inked a deal with Transit Wireless (which has already announced similar partnerships with Sprint, AT&T and the like) that’ll bring 3G and LTE voice and data to those 36 Manhattan stations that are already online, later this year. Phase two, meanwhile, will bring 40 additional stations throughout Manhattan and Queens. That part is expected to be completed early next year.
