Samsung’s Galaxy S4 Zoom with LTE launches in Europe

Samsung's Galaxy S4 Zoom with LTE launches in Europe

We can’t say that we were bowled over by the Galaxy S4 Zoom when we gave it the review treatment last month. That being said, if you’ve decided that the 16-megapixel Frankamphone fits your needs, you live in Europe and have been waiting for the LTE version to arrive, then today’s the day. Samsung’s just announced the Zoom avec LTE is now available across Europe, and has named Deutsche Telekom, Tele2, Telia Sonera and Orange as some of the networks that’ll carry it. The launch is particularly timely for the UK, which just yesterday saw two carriers flip the 4G switch and another announce when its speedy network will go live. Hit up your local LTE merchant for the finer details, like when you’ll actually be able to buy the Android-powered cameraphone and how much your wallet is going to hate you for doing so.

Xbox One Voice Commands Will Not Work For Everyone At Launch

Xbox One Voice Commands Will Not Work For Everyone At LaunchAs some of you guys have heard, Microsoft’s Xbox One will be delayed for some markets, and one of the reasons of the delay is because Microsoft is still working on getting local language and voice support for those regions. Based on this we would have assumed that for the markets the Xbox One will be launched in, voice support should not be an issue, or is it? According to some fine print on Microsoft’s Xbox One website, it actually reads, “Xbox voice commands will not be available in all markets on the product release date. Voice commands will be available at launch in US, UK, CA, FR, and DE.”

Based on that fine print, it would seem that five out of the 13 markets the console will be launched in will be getting voice support, meaning that those in the remaining 8 markets such as Australia, Austria, Brazil, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, New Zealand, and Spain are flat out of luck. While Microsoft has yet to respond to this fine print, a NeoGAF forum post by Microsoft’s Albert Penello revealed that not all voice features will be supported by some of the markets the console will be launched in, and that the Xbox One marketing team is currently working on a chart that will hopefully explain it all. We’ll keep an eye out for that chart, but in the meantime for those living in the other 8 markets, perhaps this is something worth thinking about.

AT&T Employee Vacation Blackouts Corroborates iPhone Release Date

AT&T Employee Vacation Blackouts Corroborates iPhone Release DateApple has yet to formally announce an event in which they will be launching the iPhone 5S and the iPhone 5C. We have heard the 10th of September could be a possible date, and that we might even see either device launch on the 20th. Previously we had also reported that T-Mobile had reportedly blacked out the 20th-22nd of September, preventing employees from taking leave presumably to deal with the onslaught of customers coming in to purchase the phone, and now it looks like AT&T has done something similar as well, blocking out the dates, thus further fueling speculation that the 20th of September could be when the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C are released.

According to the report, AT&T has no plans to launch other “high profile devices”, suggesting that this blackout of dates could indeed be for the iPhones. If the 10th of September launch date is true, the 20th of September release does not come as a surprise. Apple typically launches their products about a week after it has been announced as they have done so in the past, so there is no reason to believe otherwise. In any case hopefully Apple will start sending out the invites to their 10th of September event soon in which the phones’ release date can also be confirmed.

BlackBerry Q10 Now Available From Sprint

BlackBerry Q10 Now Available From SprintIf you were planning on picking up the BlackBerry Q10 from Sprint, the good news is that the phone is finally here! The device has been spotted online on Sprint’s website and according to the website, new customers will be able to pick up the device for $100 with a new contract. This is in spite of Sprint’s earlier press release that suggested that the phone would set customers back $199.99. Sprint expects the BlackBerry Q10 to begin arriving at the doorsteps of its customers within 2-5 business days, so if you’d like to get your hands on the device ASAP, you should probably place your order now.

For those unfamiliar, the BlackBerry Q10 is BlackBerry’s QWERTY smartphone running the new BlackBerry 10 OS, unlike the BlackBerry Z10 which is the Canadian company’s attempt at a full touchscreen device. While many expected the Q10 to do well given its familiar QWERTY layout, recent reports have suggested that the phone is actually doing rather badly, with retailers claiming that there is “virtually no demand” for the device. We’re not sure how true that is, although BlackBerry isn’t exactly in the best of shape right now. In any case if you want to see if the BlackBerry Q10 is the device for you, be sure to check out our review.

Morgan Stanley Holds Off On Upgrading To BlackBerry 10

BlackBerry 10 was launched earlier this year with devices like the BlackBerry Z10 and BlackBerry Q10 hitting the market, so we guess for some companies that are still on the BlackBerry platform, it should be time to upgrade, right? To Compete With Apple And Samsung, Other Manufacturers Should Start Selling A “Lifestyle”

To Compete With Apple And Samsung, Other Manufacturers Should Start Selling A LifestyleWhen it comes to smartphones, there are a few brands in the market that are popular, such as Apple, Samsung, HTC, LG, Sony, and Motorola just to name a few, although in all honesty it does feel like the market does belong with Apple and Samsung. Given that companies such as HTC are struggling financially, what can they do to keep themselves relevant? According to the director of GfK’s business and technology, Ryan Garner, he believes that these other companies need to stop selling products, and instead sell a lifestyle. (more…)
