jOBS Biopic Does Not Do As Well As Expected

jOBS Biopic Does Not Do As Well As ExpectedHow many of you are looking forward to the jOBS biopic for the longest time already? We do know that since April last year, Ashton Kutcher was the one who managed to land the role of the late Steve Jobs in an upcoming biopic, where we reported that he suffered from pancreas problems while following Steve Jobs’ diet later on. In fact, early this year, the first clip from the jOBS biopic was released to much fanfare, and right now after the movie has been released, the big question would be this – how well did it do at the box office?

Having opened across 2,381 screens this weekend, it raked in an estimated $6.7 million. According to the movie’s distributor, Open Road Films, they were hoping to shift around $8 million to $9 million in tickets for the corresponding period, but failed to do so. Perhaps it had something to do with Steve Wozniak criticizing the truthfulness of the story? So far, jOBS picked up an aggregate score of 25% on Rotten Tomatoes, but chances are it will be able to recoup its budget og $12 million and turn a small profit after taking into consideration DVD sales and TV rights. Would you watch this on the big screen or wait for it to be available on DVD?

LG Optimus G Pro Goes White For AT&T (Rumor)

LG Optimus G Pro Goes White For AT&T (Rumor)Earlier this year, we managed to take LG’s latest flagship smartphone out for a spin (where the existing flagship is now the recently announced LG G2 of course, with ads of it appearing on the digital billboards of soccer matches to boot in the UK) and were pretty impressed by it. Well, it seems that to make things a little bit more interesting, the AT&T model of the LG Optimus G Pro is about to be on the receiving end of a new coat of paint, thanks to serial leaksters @evleaks who have posted an alleged press image of the unannounced white colored version of the LG Optimus G Pro. How do we know it is headed towards AT&T? The answer is simple – there is the standard issue AT&T logo located on both the front and back of the device.

According to our knowledge, the LG Optimus G Pro has been made available via AT&T in only one color – and that is black, which is more often than not the favorite for many devices and consumer electronics. You will be able to pick it up for $99 a pop on a 2-year contract for the black model, but no known release dates for the white option of the handset are available just yet, although we do hope for AT&T to make an official statement on it soon.

Fujitsu FJDEV009 Spotted In AnTuTu Benchmark

Fujitsu FJDEV009 Spotted In AnTuTu BenchmarkHere is another device that has gotten its benchmark results on AnTuTu leaked out – where it is anonymously known as FJDEV009. The Fujitsu FJDEV009 is most probably a smartphone that will remain specific to the Japanese market alone, which is more often than not the case for many a Japanese smartphone. In fact, from what we were able to glean from the details found on the AnTuTu database, the Fujitsu FJDEV009 will run on a quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor which is capable of clocking up to 2.15GHz in terms of speed, and we also know that the Fujitsu FJDEV009 was tested in the Land of the Rising Sun, picking up a score of more than 30,000 points in addition to being powered by Google’s Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean as the mobile operating system of choice.

It seems that the Fujitsu FJDEV009 is being prepared to be yet another flagship smartphone from Fujitsu, and will roll out via NTT DoCoMo in Japan. Guess this means the chances of the Fujitsu FJDEV009 heading anywhere else outside of Japan is as slim as Arsenal winning the Premier League this year (yes, and I am a fan of the Gunners, sometimes you just got to face up to reality). We do hope to catch a glimpse of its leaked photos soon though.

LG G2 Ad Spotted In Manchester United Soccer Match

LG G2 Ad Spotted In Manchester United Soccer MatchThe LG G2 is the latest flagship from the South Korean consumer electronics giant, and we have heard some interesting stories about its launch in recent times, in addition to a Verizon signup page that reveals exclusive Qi wireless charging to boot. Well, no matter how famous a company is, there is nothing quite like the power of advertising to push out its latest products, and that is exactly what LG has done with the LG G2, in the opening match between Manchester United and Swansea City, with the Red Devils running away as victors, of course.

In fact, LG actually draped the stadium with banners of the handset, and to keep up with the 21st century tide of things, the digital billboards on the pitch also played ads for the LG G2 that is said to come with a special kind of design for a smartphone of its size, boasting volume as well as power buttons at the back of the handset. Do you think that the LG G2 is going to be able to take on the other Android-powered flagships that are in the market such as the Samsung Galaxy S4, the HTC One, Sony Xperia Z, and the Motorola DROID Ultra among others?

KT Skylife plans to trial 4K satellite TV service in 2014

KT Skylife tests 4K satellite TV broadcasts, plans to trial service in 2014

Satellite TV in Ultra HD quality is no longer just a dream: following a successful test broadcast this week, KT Skylife has unveiled a roadmap for offering 4K TV to its subscribers. The Korean provider plans to trial one channel of UHD content in the efficient H.265 (HEVC) video format next year, with a full commercial launch due in 2015. Widespread availability will depend on KT Skylife’s ability to clear regulatory hurdles, CEO Jae-chul Moon says. The real challenge, however, may be finding customers with Ultra HD TVs. While prices are falling quickly, there’s no guarantee that 4K sets will be commonplace in two years’ time.

Fly Or Die: Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 8.0

Screen Shot 2013-08-18 at 6.31.30 PM

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 8.0, while having a numerically challenging name, is a slick little guy that’s not too big, not too small, but just right.

Still, is that enough to compete with not only the iPad mini but also Samsung’s own Galaxy Note 8-inch tablet?

To start, the specs on this bad boy are sure to please. John Biggs felt that the 8-inch 1280×800 display was beautiful, which is no surprise considering Samsung manufactures some of the best displays in the industry. The tablet comes in 16GB and 32GB options, and starts at a perfectly reasonable $299 price point.

But without any 4G/LTE connectivity (which isn’t an option in the Galaxy Tab 3 8.0), the tab itself is inherently limited. Moreover, neither of us are particularly pleased with the plastic build materials or the Galaxy S 3-style design language.

Nonetheless, it’s hard to argue with Samsung as a whole, which has risen to be the undisputed market leader in mobile computing. The company very strategically offers a variety of products in each category, with different uses and price points for each. The GalTab 3 8.0 is yet another sheep in the Samsung-flavored herd, but it doesn’t mean that it won’t help you get to sleep at night.

If you’re part of the Apple ecosystem already, it’s hard not to justify the extra $30 for an iPad mini. If not, however, the GalTab 3 8-inch is a reasonable consideration, especially alongside Samsung’s Galaxy Note line of tablets.
