Sony Entertainment Network and PlayStation Store add carrier billing for AT&T and T-Mobile

DNP PlayStation Video Unlimited updated to include mobile billing option

If you’re stateside and still leery about using your credit card with Sony following 2011’s hacking scandal, the company has a new way for you to pay: your cellphone bill. Following its UK debut, Boku carrier payment processing is on our shores now, allowing you to top-up your virtual wallet via, specifically, an AT&T or T-Mobile account. Oddly enough, these funds can only be used for purchases on the Sony Entertainment Network website and the PS3’s PlayStation Store — not the PS Vita’s. We emailed to clarify this, but Sony only told us that it has “no plans to announce at this time.”

NEW ORLEANS — BP PLC says Gov. Bobby Jindal’s administration has misrepresented its record in the 2010 Gulf of Mexico oil spill, including how much it has spent on cleanup.

Geoff Morrell, BP’s vice president of U.S. communications, responded Thursday to comments made a day earlier by Jindal and his top coastal official, Garret Graves, during and after a meeting of the Gulf Coast Ecosystem Restoration Council.

Parallels Desktop 9 supports OS X Mavericks and cloud services, provides mighty performance boost

Parallels Desktop 9 supports OS X Mavericks and cloud services, provides mighty performance boost

Parallels usually does a pretty great job at heavily improving its Mac / Windows fusion software, and we’d say this newly minted version doesn’t fall remotely short of that. Parallels Desktop 9 brings an array of improvements and enhancements to the table: integration with popular cloud services (iCloud, Dropbox, Google Drive, SkyDrive and more), support for Power Nap on compatible laptops, the ability to have a keyboard customized for Windows and, perhaps most importantly, being friendly with OS X Mavericks. This new iteration is on sale now to new customers for $79.99 or $39.99 for the Student Edition, while Desktop 7 and Desktop 8 users will only have to shell out $49.99 to upgrade. The full list of novel features can be perused in the PR after the break, and there’s also a video in case moving visual images are something you prefer.

In what has proven to be a bit of a head-scratcher, a screenshot has surfaced by way of the T-Mobile Moto X device page showing availability as only through Google Play. SimCity for Mac arrives with issues that prevent installation and gameplay (update: issues resolved)

SimCity for Mac is finally here, and needless to say, many have waited years for this day. Unfortunately, the arrival isn’t going terribly smoothly for some, with user complaints ranging from installation issues to the game running only in a windowed mode. Put simply, SimCity for Mac is unplayable for some, and it’s an unfortunate situation that’s eerily reminiscent of its launch on the PC. A Maxis spokesperson tells us that its live support team is actively working with players that’ve encountered trouble, and for what it’s worth, installation of SimCity for Mac went off without a hitch on our end. In other words, don’t lose hope; if you’re looking to avoid potential frustration, however, you might want to give the developers a chance to iron out these launch day issues.

Update: Maxis has issued the following statement about the issues:

“We are pleased to advise that the installation-related issues some players experienced with SimCity on Mac have been resolved.”

How Every Argument About Xbox and PlayStation Ends

How Every Argument About Xbox and PlayStation Ends

It doesn’t matter if you’re talking about the Xbox One versus the PlayStation 4. The 360 versus the PS3. Pitting Xbox Live against PlayStation Plus. Comparing Microsoft and Sony. Even including Windows Phone with the PSP. Whatever. Any argument between Xbox fanboys and PlayStation fanboys eventually reaches the point where they’re both so thankful that they’re not Nintendo fanboys. How about that 2DS guys!
