This Kindergarten is a Giant Cat

Kindergarten is all about having fun while learning things like your ABCs and numbers. And what could be more fun than going to school inside of a giant cat?

Die Katze in Wolfartsweier near Karlsruhe, Germany is just such a children’s school. The building is designed to look like a giant, white cat. It was designed by artist Tomi Ungerer and architect Ayla-Suzan Yöndel. The building looks like it is ready to pounce at any moment.

The circular windows at the front are the eyes and the tail in the back is actually a slide, for recess time. What kid wouldn’t love to go to school here? Inside this school has all of the usual amenities like classrooms, coatrooms, a kitchen, dining room, and a main hall.

This is definitely one way to make kids want to go to school.

NASA’s New Martian Explorer Will Explain Where All the Water Went

NASA's New Martian Explorer Will Explain Where All the Water Went

We know that Mars once had an Earth-like atmosphere dense enough to support liquid water on the surface of the planet, we’ve found the dry riverbeds and the presence of minerals only formed in water to prove it. We’re also pretty sure that the planet slowly lost that atmosphere into the depths of space on account of climate change. What we don’t know is why. And that’s where NASA’s brand new MAVEN satellite comes in.

Huawei Honor 3 Is Now Official

Huawei Honor 3 Is Now OfficialJust a few days ago, we did talk about the Huawei Honor 3 which is set to be announced near the end of this month, and guess what? The Huawei Honor 3 is now official, where it will come with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean in tow. This will be the third smartphone from Huawei which will carry the “Honor” name, with the first being announced in 2011 under the Honor U8860 banner, while at the end of last year, we had the Huawei Honor 2 roll out. Just what will the Huawei Honor 3 bring to the table then?

The Huawei Honor 3 happens to be IP57 certified, which means that this is a waterproof device, and you can place an order for it in China from today onwards via Huawei’s very own online shop. After conversion, the Huawei Honor 3 will retail for approximately $308 as an unlocked device, and so far the only color of choice available remains at just one – that is, white. Hardware specifications include a 4.7” display at 1,280 x 720 resolution, HSPA+ (up to 21Mbps) and Wi-Fi b/g/n connectivity, a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera, a 13-megapixel shooter at the back with a LED flash, a quad-core 1.5GHz Huawei K3V2E processor, 2GB RAM, 8GB of internal memory, and a microSD memory card slot for expansion purposes. No idea on whether the Honor 3 will make it outside of China, but the chances do look good.

NJ Might Hold You Liable If You Text Someone While They’re Driving

NJ Might Hold You Liable If You Text Someone While Theyre Driving

One can’t stress enough just how bad texting while driving is. Countless incidents have been reported from all around the world where drivers have caused serious injury or even death just because they thought they could multitask. The appellate division of New Jersey Superior Court has released a new opinion under which it establishes that the sender of a text message can potentially be liable if an incident is caused, though they’re likely to liable if they know that the recipient is behind the wheel.

In this particular matter the sender has “limited duty.” One can’t obviously know right from the start that the recipient is driving. However, once the sender has been made aware that the other person is driving and “know that the recipient would view the text while driving and thus be distracted,” they can be held liable if the recipient causes an injury while reading or responding to that text. As previously mentioned, this is just an opinion that the Superior Court released recently, its not actually a formal law. Nevertheless, there exists a possibility that New Jersey might consider prosecuting people in the future if they knowingly text someone who is driving and that results in an incident.

Google Glass gets a fashionable makeover

Glass marketing manager Amanda Rosenberg poses in a more fashion-forward version of the specs.

Lately, the Google Glass team seems to be working on remaking its image into something a little more chic.

We’ve already seen the Explorer edition of the wearable tech shown off as a fashion accessory at a Diane von Furstenberg show last year, and in the pages of Vogue‘s colossal September issue. But the above revision of Glass is among the first I’ve seen that was designed by the Google team and doesn’t look like it was lifted from the pages of some old DC Comics.

SFO Free Airport Wi-Fi Gets A Speed Boost

SFO Free Airport Wi Fi Gets A Speed BoostAre you one who loves or loathes airports? The San Francisco International Airport (SFO) has a certain charm about it, and this time around, it intends to make life easier and more convenient for the millions of travelers who go through its terminals every single year by completing the comprehensive upgrade of the airport’s free Wi-Fi network. In fact, hooking up to the Internet at SFO is so easy now, all you need to do is accept the terms and conditions (who reads those, anyways?) with a single click, and you are good to go. Not only that, SFO’s Wi-Fi network will deliver ad-free connectivity so that you can get more productive and keep in touch without having any pesky windows pop up to distract you.

Apart from that, the new Wi-Fi network will also boast of faster speeds in comparison to the previous network system, not to mention allowing you a far longer connect session of up to 2 hours instead of its predecessor. You can also move between terminals seamlessly without requiring to reconnect at a different terminal, and just in case you run into issues, there is a support number on the splash page to help you out of a tight spot. There will be further upgrades down the road to deliver additional increases in network capacity as well as the addition of wireless access points throughout the airport.

Xbox One to bring higher quality voice chat through dedicated hardware and the power of Skype (updated)

It’s anti-climactic when you destroy someone in Madden, yet your victory chants are muffled by substandard voice chat. Today, Major Nelson revealed that with the Xbox One and the Xbox One Chat Headset, your taunts and condolences will be heard loud and clear by all. How? Well, the console has dedicated audio processing and the new controller’s expansion port provides a fatter data pipe that allows the headset to render voices at 24 KHz PCM. According to the Major, that’s three times the sample rate for rendering and a 50 percent better capture rate than Xbox 360 headsets. Combine that with Skype’s refined audio codec, and you’ve got yourself a new gold standard for in-game chat quality. And, you can hear the difference at the source link below. Only downside Best part is, Microsoft still gonna won’t make you pay extra for the privilege.

Update: Major Nelson was kind enough to remind us that the headset will, in fact, be included with Xbox One.
