ASUS’ New PadFone Infinity Spotted In Benchmarks With Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 800

ASUS New PadFone Infinity Spotted In Benchmarks With Qualcomms Snapdragon 800Earlier this year at MWC 2013, ASUS announced the PadFone Infinity, an upgraded and redesigned version of the PadFone 2. While the PadFone Infinity is available for purchase in the US, it is via unofficial channels and there are some who are still waiting for an official release, possibly with carrier partnership to help subsidize the cost of the device. Unfortunately we are still waiting for such a thing to happen, but a recent benchmark sighting might be able to explain why no US availability has been announced yet. (more…)

Nokia Lumia 1520 “Bandit” 6-inch Windows Phone reportedly appears in image

An image has surfaced featuring a red handset said to be the Nokia Lumia 1520 “Bandit”, the first in Nokia’s Windows Phone lineup that features a 6-inch display. We reported on this last week as sources dropped information to the folks at Reuters, pegging the 1520 for a late September reveal at an event in […]

Acer Liquid S2 Phablet Spotted In Benchmarks

Acer Liquid S2 Phablet Spotted In BenchmarksAcer has primarily been known for their computer offerings, although the company has attempted to enter the mobile market with tablets and smartphones, with the latter typically featuring rather uninspired hardware and design, like the Liquid Z3 being one of them. The company has also attempted a phablet of its own earlier this with the Liquid S1 and if you recall earlier rumors, a Liquid S2 could be on its way, and recent benchmark sightings might have revealed and “confirmed” some of its alleged specifications.

According to the benchmark, the Acer Liquid S2 device will sport a 6” 1920×1080 Full HD IPS display. It could also be powered by a 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset which is definitely no slouch, and has been rumored to power Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Note 3 phablet as well. It will also sport 2GB of RAM, 16GB of onboard storage, a 13MP, NFC connectivity, and according to the benchmark, is running on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. The last bit is a strange given that the leaked roadmap suggested Android Key Lime Pie as its OS of choice, but perhaps it could be upgraded before it is released.

No word on when Acer plans to launch the Liquid S2, but it has been rumored for a potential launch later this year. Take it with a grain of salt for now, but what do you guys think? Not too shabby, huh?

Man Sues Apple After Allegedly Being Burnt By iPhone 4

Man Sues Apple After Allegedly Being Burnt By iPhone 4We have been hearing horror stories out of China in which iPhone users have been reportedly electrocuted, and in one instance resulted in the death of a young woman. We have also heard about exploding iPhones and it looks like those cases might no longer be just limited to the China region. Just recently we heard about an exploding iPad charger in the UK, and now in the US a man is filing a lawsuit against Apple, claiming that he received “severe, permanent, disfiguring and disabling injuries” that were the result of the iPhone 4. It is not clear if this is the result of the phone overheating to insane proportions, or if it was a case of an exploding device.

Either way this happened back in 2011 with the lawsuit having only recently been filed just last week. The plaintiff is seeking $75,000 in damages that exclude medical and other costs, and according to the formal complaint that was lodge by Michael Filippone, the result of his injury was “due to the negligent, careless, defective and/or hazardous design, manufacture, supply, assembly, maintenance, inspection, repair, packaging, distribution, advertising, marketing and/or sale of said iPhone 4 …” Apple has yet to issue a statement regarding this matter.

T-Mobile Blocks Employee Vacations For 20th September Possibly Due To iPhone Release

T Mobile Blocks Employee Vacations For 20th September Possibly Due To iPhone ReleaseOn the 10th of September, it has been rumored that Apple will be holding an event of their own in which they will announce both the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C. Assuming that is true, when can we expect either device to be released to the masses? Apple has typically been pretty efficient when it comes to release dates, usually releasing a couple of weeks from the announcement, and sometimes on the day itself. We had previously heard that the 20th of September is a possible release date and it seems that the date could be true.

This is according to TmoNews who is reporting that T-Mobile stores in the US are blacking out Friday, the 20thof September, until the 22nd of September (Sunday) to prevent employees from taking vacations. Presumably this is to ensure that the carrier will have enough staff on hand to handle incoming customers who might be looking to get their hands on the new iPhones. Of course since Apple has yet to announce anything official yet, do take it with a grain of salt for now, but if you’re looking to pick up either device, perhaps the 20th of September could be a date worth marking down on your calendar.

Nine Inch Nails masters new album a second time for high-end audio gear

Nine Inch Nails masters new album a second time for highend audio devices

Many audiophiles will tell you that modern albums are too “loud” — that the mastering process emphasizes bass and volume over subtlety. Nine Inch Nails will soon cater to these more demanding listeners with a special Audiophile Mastering Edition of its upcoming Hesitation Marks album. The additional mix will be truer to what Trent Reznor and crew heard in the studio, and should sound best on high-end audio equipment that can reproduce a wide audio range. The band warns that most fans won’t notice the difference with this new version. However, there’s no penalty for giving it a try — anyone who buys Hesitation Marks from NIN’s site will get to download the Audiophile cut for free when the album launches on September 3rd.

How to Create an Automatic Lawn Mower That’ll Mow the Lawn for You

You don’t even need to buy a Roomba lawn mower, all you need to do to rid yourself from the chore of mowing lawns is to make the lawn mower mow itself. How? Be like this guy who strapped his self-propelled lawn mower with rope to a stake in the middle of the yard. The lawn mower ingeniously mows the lawn in smaller spirals as the rope wraps around the wooden stake.

Three launching 4G in London, Birmingham and Manchester in December

Since today’s the day that Vodafone and O2 launch their 4G networks, Three has piped up to remind you that its own LTE rollout isn’t too far behind. Customers in London, Birmingham and Manchester will be getting an early Christmas present when the service goes live at some point in December. As promised back in February, existing customers with LTE-ready devices won’t pay extra, nor will they lose their unlimited data allowance. The network is promising to be in 50 cities by the end of 2014 and cover 98 percent of the population by the end of 2015. After all, Dave Dyson’s a mobile executive who likes to take things slow.
