Different strokes, different folks. Different guns, different countries. Here’s a map showing the military issue rifle for each country in the world. You’ll see familiar M4s, AK-47s, AK-74s, some M16s and tinkles of other weaponry. Judging by the map’s choice of colors, it seems to group weapons that are of a similar family together by color.

Texas A&M researchers concoct nanoparticles to soak up crude oil spills
Posted in: Today's ChiliThe 2010 Deepwater Horizon may be forgotten to many, but remnants of its destruction still remain in the Gulf of Mexico. Mercifully, it appears that researchers at Texas A&M University “have developed a non-toxic sequestering agent-iron oxide nanoparticles coated in a polymer mesh that can hold up to 10 times their weight in crude oil.” In layman’s terms, they’ve engineered a material that can safely soak up oil. As the story goes, the nanoparticles “consist of an iron oxide core surrounded by a shell of polymeric material,” with the goal being to soak up leftover oil that isn’t captured using conventional mechanical means. The next step? Creating an enhanced version that’s biodegradable; as it stands, the existing particles could pose a threat if not collected once they’ve accomplished their duties.

Creator Ryan Murphy has released the opening credits for “American Horror Story: Coven” ahead of the show’s Oct. 9 premiere, and they’re every bit as creepy as the main titles for the previous two seasons.
Filled with occult imagery and ominous glimpses of animals and bleeding body parts, the opening could very well give you nightmares — but we figure that’s just Murphy’s way of preparing us for the scares in store when the show makes its debut in two weeks.
“American Horror Story: Coven” tells the secret history of witches and witchcraft in America. Wrapped up in the turmoil is new arrival, Zoe (Taissa Farmiga), who is harboring a terrifying secret of her own. Alarmed by the recent aggression, Fiona (Jessica Lange), the long-absent Supreme, sweeps back into town, determined to protect the Coven and hell-bent on decimating anyone who gets in her way.
