This Needler Replica Prop Is A Halo Fan’s Dream Come True

This Needler Replica Prop Is A Halo Fans Dream Come True

In my experience playing various Halo games, I know one opponent that you always need to look out for is the one carrying the Needler. Yes – the guy carrying the rocket launcher is also pretty deadly, but if you come across a professional Needler user, then you’re as good as dead as soon as you’re hit with the first round from the weapon. That’s why I’m both extremely impressed and extremely frightened of this Needler replica that was created by Volpin Props. (more…)

15% Of All Americans Dont Use The Internet And May Never Use It [Report]

If you’re reading this right now, then we think it’s safe to say that you’re currently using the Internet, that is, unless you insist your Internet-using neighbors to print out our stories for you on a daily basis. Those of you who would rather not deal with the Internet aren’t alone as Pew Research is reporting a total of 15% of Americans don’t have the Internet, with a total of five percent of all Americans believing it’s “irrelevant.” (more…)

iPad 5 in Space Gray and Classic Silver: three tones in all

You’ll find the same clues appearing for the iPad’s 5th generation release as we saw with the iPhone 5s this week, with parts from upstream coming on in several tones. What you’re seeing here is a collection of parts acquired from the secondhand repair and replacement market in China, coming through the likes of Sonny […]

iFixit tears down Apple’s Haswell-based iMacs, finds room for extra storage

iFixit tears down Apple's Haswellbased iMacs

As is its custom, iFixit has torn down the new Haswell-based iMacs to gauge their repairability — and the company has found a few surprises despite the iterative design. In addition to new processors, graphics and WiFi, the updated all-in-ones now have unoccupied PCI Express slots in their base configurations. DIY enthusiasts willing to pry open their systems can add PCIe-based SSD if they like, iFixit says. Not every change is good news, however. The 21.5-inch iMac’s processor is now soldered to the motherboard; while earlier models weren’t all that upgradable, the move prevents even determined hobbyists from using their own CPUs. Whether or not you plan to tinker with Apple’s desktops, you’ll find quite a lot to explore at the source links.

Apple Co-Founder Steve Jobs’ Childhood Home May Become Historical Site

Apple Co Founder Steve Jobs Childhood Home May Become Historical Site

Apple co-founder Steve Jobs passed away nearly two years ago, leaving quite the legacy behind. Apple became a huge company under Jobs’ guidance, which is why his childhood home in Los Altos, California is being considered to become a historical site.

The seven-member Los Altos Historical Commission has scheduled a “historic property evaluation” to take place on Monday for Jobs’ ranch-style childhood home. If approved, the house will then have to be preserved at its 2066 Crist Drive location. (more…)

Dell no longer selling its XPS 10 Windows RT tablet, wants you to buy the Latitude 10 instead

Dell no longer selling its XPS 10 Windows RT tablet, wants you to buy the Latitude 10 instead

If you’re dead-set on a Windows RT tablet, it’s increasingly looking like the Surface 2 will be your only option. After Samsung and Lenovo discontinued their respective devices, Dell is also apparently giving up on the beleaguered OS: the XPS 10 is no longer listed for sale on Dell’s site. What’s more, the company is pointedly suggesting that users buy the Latitude 10 instead (that’s a tablet running full Windows 8, with a more powerful Atom processor under the hood). Of course, it’s possible Dell’s just sold out for the moment, but given the unpopularity of Windows RT devices in general, and the fact that Dell declined to refresh the XPS 10 with another RT device, we’re guessing not. At any rate, we’re asking Dell for comment and will let you know if we hear anything.
