Sony Will Stream PS3 Games To PS4 And PS Vita Next Year

Sony’s new console, the PlayStation 4, releases in November. At launch, gamers won’t be able to play PS3 titles, but they’ll have the ability to do so next year. At the Tokyo Game Show today, President of Sony Worldwide Studios, Shuhei Yoshida, revealed that a digital library of PlayStation 3 games will be streamed through the company’s Gaikai cloud services to the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita in 2014. Since the processing will be done in the cloud, gamers will also be able to play PS3 titles on the recently announced PS Vita TV.

It hasn’t been revealed as yet which titles will be the first ones to be supported by next year. Yoshia has said that Sony will support a “decent number” of games when the service launches, and that it will continue to expand the library over time. Back in February this year, Yoshida had announced that PlayStation 4 would not come with native support for last year’s console’s games. This alternative will no doubt be welcomed. Gaikai, known as the “world’s leading interactive cloud-based gaming company,” was purchased by Sony last year for a rumored amount of $380 million. After the acquisition many hoped that Sony will use this technology to offer streaming of games, the company has finally followed through.

HTC Desire 601 Hits The FCC

HTC Desire 601 Hits The FCCWell, you know for sure that a particular device is about to arrive in the mainstream market when it appears on the FCC, and the same can be said for the HTC Desire 601. Much has been leaked about it, but there was still no exact release date as well as pricing details for the HTC Desire 601. I guess all of that will change now, with the smartphone from Taiwanese manufacturer HTC making a splash over at the FCC. So far, in the FCC listing itself, it sports compatibility with Sprint’s LTE bands, alongside the HTC Desire 601′s codename of “Zara” seen in the build number.

In the past, the folks over at @evleaks did post something about the HTC Desire 601 making its way over to Virgin Mobile. There is a very high chance of that happening now, considering how Virgin Mobile happens to be a wholly owned subsidiary of Sprint. Apart from that, the FCC filing did reveal additional information such as Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean arriving right out of the box, not to mention other hardware specifications such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and NFC connectivity. Would you pick up the HTC Desire 601 when it arrives, or have you set your sights on something fancier?

Apple CEO Tim Cook Understands That To Not Innovate ‘Is To Die’

Apple CEO Tim Cook Understands That To Not Innovate Is To Die

Earlier this year we heard rumors that Apple’s board was pushing CEO Tim Cook to be more innovative. The company has long been expected to release a product, any product, that changes the landscape once again. Rumored products include a smartwatch and a full fledged HDTV, but Apple hasn’t dropped any hints about its future devices. Some people say that the era of innovation at Apple ended with Steve Jobs’ departure, Larry Ellison of Oracle certainly seems to think so. Rest assured, the CEO knows that not innovating in today’s competitive market is going to be fatal for any company. Speaking with Bloomberg, Cook said that Nokia is a prime example for everyone in the industry why companies shouldn’t stop innovation, he believes that “to not innovate is to die.”

Nokia’s phone business used to thrive globally not so long ago, but it lost a lot of its market share after the iPhone and Android established their duopoly. A few weeks ago it was announced that Nokia has sold its core phone business to Microsoft, the deal is expected to be closed within the next couple of months. There has also been much talk online about the fact that iPhone 5C isn’t really a “budget iPhone” that most people thought it would be. Cook says that it was never the company’s objective to sell “a low cost phone,” their objective was to sell a great phone and provide a great experience, and that Apple just “figured out a way to do it at a lower cost.”
