Angry Birds Star Wars 2 Cashes In On GTA 5 Hype

Angry Birds Star Wars 2 Cashes In On GTA 5 HypeFor Angry Birds fans, you might have heard that the Angry Birds Star Wars 2 game is set to debut on the 19th of September, and with Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto 5 released a couple of days ago, it looks like the folks at Rovio have decided to hop aboard the GTA bandwagon by releasing the image above to help market its upcoming game, while taking advantage of the hype of Grand Theft Auto 5. Granted Rovio probably doesn’t need to hype given that the Angry Birds franchise has to be one of the most successful mobile games of all time, but it’s still pretty clever and admittedly a little funny as well.

Angry Birds Star Wars 2 will be the sequel to the original Angry Birds Star Wars and will introduce a couple of new characters, such as Darth Maul, Mace Windu, and a young Anakin Skywalker. No word on pricing yet but we expect Rovio will keep it around the same price that they have been using for previous Angry Birds games. So, who else is looking forward to Angry Birds Star Wars 2? Or do you think that GTA 5 has overshadowed the launch of the upcoming mobile game?

GTA 5 Publicity Stunt In Paris Goes Wrong, Police Show Up

GTA 5 Publicity Stunt In Paris Goes Wrong, Police Show UpThere seems to be a bit of controversy surrounding the launch of Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto 5, with gamers pretending to be cops just to cut the line, fake cocaine, and even a real-life criminal case where a man was stabbed before being robbed of his copy of Grand Theft Auto 5! If you’re a believer in the mantra of, “there’s no such thing as bad publicity”, over in France it seems that an attempt to hype up the launch of the game and keep in the theme of GTA, two Micromania employees in Montargis, a town south of Paris, decided to dress up like thugs complete with face masks and toy guns.

For those who don’t play the game, we guess it can be easily misconstrued that the two “thugs” were up to no good, which is what a passerby did and alerted the police. About 15 police officers showed up with submachine guns, but thankfully no one was hurt in the process. According to an officer, the situation could have ended badly and we can’t help but agree. Either way all of this is drawing attention to the game which has since managed go on and make an astounding $800 million within 24 hours of going on sale. We can only imagine as time passes just how much more the developers will be able to rake in!

Grand Theft Auto 5 Pulls In An Amazing $800 Million In 24 Hours

Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto 5 is one of the most anticipated games of 2013 and undoubtedly will bring in a lot of sales for the developer, but exactly how much? Well according to Take-TwoGrand Theft Auto 5 Pulls In An Amazing $800 Million In 24 Hours, the company managed to pull in a whopping $800 million in 24 hours, making this the most successful Grand Theft Auto game to date (as far as first day sales are concerned, gameplay and feedback could be a different story).

According to Take-Two’s CEO, Strauss Zelnick, “All of us at Take-Two are thrilled with the initial response to Grand Theft Auto V. Once again, the team at Rockstar Games have outdone themselves, setting the entertainment industry’s new standard for creativity, innovation and excellence.”

While the company probably has other expenses and bills they need to pay, the $800 million in sales has probably allowed the company to at least recover the cost of making the game, which according to earlier reports had it pegged at $265 million, making it one of the most expensive video games made to date. So, who else got their hands on Grand Theft Auto 5 when it was released?

Samsung Galaxy Note 12.2 Spotted At Bluetooth SIG

Samsung Galaxy Note 12.2 Spotted At Bluetooth SIGOver the past few months, we heard the rumors and have even seen the leaks where it has been suggested that Samsung could be working on a Galaxy Note 12.2 tablet device. IFA then came around and many expected Samsung to unveil the tablet then, but it did not make an appearance and now thanks to a Bluetooth SIG sighting, we’re guessing that the device was probably in its early stages of development which might explain why it was missing from Samsung’s IFA announcement, although now we’re not sure when Samsung could unveil the new tablet. CES 2014, perhaps?

In any case while the specifications and features of the tablet have yet to be announced, it has been rumored that it will sport a 12.2” display with a 1.9GHz octa-core processor under the hood, presumably one of Samsung’s Exynos processors. It will also pack 3GB of RAM and a display resolution of 2560×1600 and will come with S Pen support. No word on which version of Android it will run on, but given that the device has yet to be announced, hopefully when it is launched we will see it come with the latest Android 4.4 KitKat preinstalled.

Nexus 5 Launch Date Tipped For October Again [Rumor]

Nexus 5 Launch Date Tipped For October Again [Rumor]We have been hearing a fair bit about the next-gen Nexus, which has been tipped to be known as the Nexus 5. In fact it was just the other day benchmarks of the device have been spotted which was followed by a press rendering of the handset. Now the question we’re sure many are wondering when will the device be announced? According to a previous rumor, the handset could be due for a 14th of October announcement (which if true would make it a day before Apple allegedly unveils their new iPads), and now a report from DigiTimes has “confirmed” the October timeframe as well.

DigiTimes’ report does not reveal anything new, but rather reaffirms the release date, as well as the fact that both Google and LG will be working on the Nexus 5 again, which we guess many of you guys probably are aware of already. The handset is expected to be loosely based on the Nexus 5 with the leaked benchmarks revealing a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset and a 5” Full HD display, making this Nexus device a pretty powerful one. In any case we’ll keep our eyes peeled for an announcement of sorts from Google, so stay tuned and check back with us for more updates!

Next-Gen iPads And iPhones To Feature More Sapphire Crystal [Rumor]

Next Gen iPads And iPhones To Feature More Sapphire Crystal [Rumor]According to the rumors, Apple could be set to announce their next-gen iPads come 15th of October. So far we’ve seen the alleged leaked shells of the next-gen iPad and next-gen iPad mini, with the iPad sporting a similar design to the iPad mini which would make its bezels thinner, but make the overall device thinner and smaller as well, at least compared to its predecessors. However now thanks to a new report from DigiTimes, it has been reported that Apple will introduce a sapphire crystal home button on the next-gen iPads as well. (more…)
