Alleged Sony Full-Frame NEX Specs Revealed

Alleged Sony Full Frame NEX Specs RevealedSo we have been hearing rumors that Sony could be announcing their new full-frame NEX camera in the next month or so, with the company allegedly sending out invites to camera retailers, asking them to attend an event in which something big will be shown off, presumably a full-frame NEX device. However the specifications of the camera remain unknown, with its full-frame being the only feature we know of, but according to the folks at Sony Alpha Rumors, they have been tipped off on the alleged specs of the upcoming device. Since this is not official information, it is suggested that you take it with a grain of salt for now.

According to their source, the design of the camera is said to be similar to the NEX-7 except that it will be about 15% bigger and 20% more heavier, which isn’t always a bad thing. It will sport 1,400 focus points, improved metering, and will shoot at 1/4000s. It will also come in 3, 5, 8, and 12 fps modes, a 3” display, WiFi connectivity, and a new chip. It is unclear as to whether Sony will be going with a 24, 32, or 36MP sensor but apparently the best results were achieved with the 32MP one. Like we said take it with a grain of salt for now, but if true, this full-frame NEX device is shaping up to be pretty awesome.

Microsoft Store Offers Free Wireless Charging Cover For Lumia 925

Microsoft Store Offers Free Wireless Charging Cover For Lumia 925If you’re planning on picking up the Nokia Lumia 925, you might to think about hitting up the Microsoft Store instead of your carrier. The reason is because as you can see from the screenshot above, the Microsoft Store will offering the handset on contract via AT&T or T-Mobile, but at the same time will throw in a free wireless charging case for those of you who enjoy the wireless charging capability of your phone. The case is valued at $39 and the phone itself is priced starting at $99 along with a two-year contract from either carrier.

The Nokia Lumia 925 was released not too long ago and is the first Nokia Lumia device to actually sport the use of aluminum in its body. For the most part Nokia’s Lumia lineup had been made of polycarbonate, so the Lumia 925 does feel slightly more premium thanks to the use of metal. Its specs include a 4.5” 1280×768 display with a Snapdragon S4 dual-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, and an 8.7MP PureView camera with a 2,000mAh battery.

Amazon Lockers pulled from RadioShack and Staples following nixed partnerships

As we reported last year, Staples agreed to place Amazon Lockers in its stores as part of a partnership that would perhaps be as beneficial for the retail chain as its online competitor. RadioShack also formed a partnership with Amazon, likewise putting the lockers in its stores, but now Bloomberg is reporting that both have […]

Microsoft Expands Trade-In Program, Covers Android And BlackBerry Devices

Microsoft Expands Trade In Program, Covers Android And BlackBerry DevicesJust the other day we reported that Microsoft in a bid to make customers jump ship from Apple’s iPad, started to offer customers a $200 gift card if they were to trade in their iPad at one of Microsoft’s retail stores. Now it looks like Microsoft has decided not only do they want customers jumping ship from tablets, but from smartphones as well and have started a trade in program where customers can trade in devices such as iPhones, Samsung devices, and even BlackBerry phones where they will be given a gift card worth up to $350 via Microsoft’s Corporate Buyback promotion.

This program is open to everyone and is applicable even to businesses who might want to trade in a bunch of older devices, from which they can get a single quote for all of it at once. All you’d need is a Microsoft Account ID which can be registered for free. This deal appears to be handled by Clover Wireless and not Microsoft directly. No word on when this particular promotion will end, but if it sounds like something you might be interested in, you should probably be quick about it just in case!

Apple raises cellular download cap to 100MB for iOS

Apple raises iOS cellular download limit to 100MB

If you hadn’t noticed, there have been a lot of app updates to accommodate the launch of iOS 7. You may not have to use a WiFi hotspot to grab them all, though — Apple has quietly raised iOS’ cellular download cap from 50MB to 100MB. You won’t be loading Infinity Blade III while on the road, but the ceiling is high enough that moderately-sized apps like Sky Guide are now available over the air. Just make sure you’ve got enough spare bandwidth.

Verizon speaks out on Nexus 7 LTE activation, expects it will be certified ‘shortly’

Despite the wide LTE support featured on the Nexus 7 2013’s cellular modem-equipped model, early buyers have found Verizon won’t activate it for a new line on the Big Red Network. The company responded officially on the matter today, explaining that its 4 – 6 week certification process must be completed first. The process apparently began in August, and spokesperson Debi Lewis said the company expects that to happen “shortly.” The whole process is actually laid out on Verizon’s website and shows how the testing is undertaken by a third party lab of the manufacturer’s choosing — feel free to read through it during the days / weeks your new Nexus 7 isn’t connecting to LTE.

Tesla’s Elon Musk seeking engineers for autonomous driving project

Tesla Motors’ founder Elon Musk recently revealed that the auto maker has plans for a “practical autopilot system” for the Model S, something that would rival other makers of self-driving cars without going quite as far into the realm of complete autonomic functionality as, for example, Google.
