In the annals of Kickstarter history, Mighty No. 9, the descendant of much-beloved Megaman, has achieved widespread success, hitting and quickly surpassing its first goal, as well as a few after it. Now it has hit another milestone, and the announcement has been made that the game will be coming to the Playstation 3, the […]
Tomorrow Apple will finally release iOS 7 for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch to the public. The rumor mill is already infatuated with the future versions of iOS 7. It was reported recently that Apple has already started testing iOS 7.0.1, 7.0.2 and 7.1. The latter is said to be a major update that will apparently be released in October. Only yesterday it was rumored that Apple will conduct yet another media event on October 15th. At the event it is expected to unveil the iPad 5, iPad mini 2, refreshed iMac and MacBook lineup and maybe a new Apple TV as well.
The folks at BGR claim to have heard from multiple sources that iOS 7.1 will launch alongside the bevy of products at Apple’s event next month. As the version number suggests, iOS 7.0.1 and 7.0.2 are likely to be minor updates that come with incremental bug fixes, performance and stability improvements. It remains to be seen what major changes iOS 7.1 brings. Apple is yet to confirm anything about a media event, so right now it can’t be said for sure if iOS 7.1 will indeed be launched next month. Apple first unveiled iOS 7 at the Worldwide Developers Conference 2013 back in June. The update brings a completely new user interface as well as a lot of new features.

When it comes to decorating rooms for young girls, most people think of pink and princesses. The only princess on Redditor carpenter75’s mind was Princess Peach. Carpenter75 invested 60 hours of painting time and a whole lot of ingenuity into creating a Mario-themed room for a daughter who requested it.
The room’s blue walls are covered in bricks, Mario and Bowser vinyl decals, Mario throw pillows, and 3D question-mark boxes. The high score on the wall is the 13-year-old’s birthday.
The daughter doesn’t actually play a wide variety of video games, but she does have a special love for Super Mario on NES. “I think she, like me, likes the simplicity of the old games,” writes carpenter75.

Carpenter75 estimates that the whole project cost around $700, including the paint, tons of masking tape, decals, and Mario-themed bedding.

I guess all of that waiting for the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c is not in vain, as it seems that somebody over in China has already provided unboxing photos of the respective handsets. I would suppose that this is not meant to happen as it is a matter of days before the official release of the new flagship and more entry level handsets from Apple. Do bear in mind that there is still a slightly possibility of these being fake, although I would not bet against it. The alleged iPhone 5s box seems to not have bucked the iPhone packaging trend right from the get go, where it features a rectangular box which is a wee bit longer and wider than the handset itself, complete with the name “iPhone 5s” on the side. Interestingly enough, it does seem as though the box for the iPhone 5s will remain white instead of matching the handset’s color underneath the hood.
The retail package will be accompanied by a wall charger, a Lightning-to-USB cable, a Lightning-to-microUSB adapter, and a pair of Apple EarPods to get you started right out of the box. Not only that, there has been an unboxing video of the iPhone 5c as well which ought to be taken with a grain of salt.

I’m constantly finding things I need to have, but can’t get here in the States. For instance, the company that makes Spain’s Atkinson Cologne for men won’t ship to the U.S. The oh-so-tasty Bovril beefy paste… can’t get it here. There are a ridiculous number of useful, fun, or simply unique items and gadgets around the world that I can’t just order, and have show up on my doorstep. While I still don’t have an answer for those of us that live here in the United States, I do have something that might be useful for those of you that don’t, and want our stuff, at your house.
Check out HopShopGo.com, a new web service that allows PayPal customers to shop at their favorite American stores and have their purchases forwarded on to them, wherever they may be. It works something like this, you register for HopShopGo.com and get your U.S. shipping address and then start shopping. Have your packages delivered to your U.S. address, where they can be held for up to a month awaiting more of your deliveries. Decide when and where you want to ship your packages, and they will be consolidated and sent on to you, with a 10% discount on your international shipping rates! You can even track them in real-time as they leave your U.S. address on their way to your door.
You don’t have to worry about who will take your credit cards, coordinating shipping, or exorbitant fees, you just shop at your favorite stores (or use one of HopShopGo’s personal shoppers) and PayPal’s buyer protection plan will even cover the cost of your purchases, including the shipping. So if you love stuff from places like Target or Amazon, Nike or Victoria’s Secret… HopShopGo has got you covered. Visit HopShopGo.com for more information, and if you happen to have any Bovril or Atkinson’s that you’re trying to unload… I’m your girl.

“I handle my s***.”
This was the brave, superheroish stance taken by Ben Affleck after he’d been cast as Batman.
As he told Jimmy Fallon, studio executives had tried to prepare him for an Internet tongue-lash.
They had showed him the often vile Web reaction to previous casting choices.
He told Fallon: “But I thought: ‘I’m a big boy. I can handle any snub. I can handle anything.’ They said don’t use the Internet for a few days.”
Affleck didn’t listen.
“I went to the announcement and looked at the first comment and it says ‘NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!.’ And I was done! We’re going to be Luddites for a while,” he admitted.

Disney Researchers Create A Way To Make Geared Figures That Look Amazingly Life-Like
Posted in: Today's ChiliFor centuries the creation of geared automata has been sort of a dark art. To design a mechanical device to move like a human or animal was a trick in itself and to build the gears and rods necessary to propel the thing was even trickier. A team of Disney researchers, however, have created a system that will let puppeteers and fans of clockwork build geared robots using 3D printings and some metal rods. Most important, they look far cooler than this dude.
The designers programmed the system to “try” different configurations of gears at different size ratios. This gave them a ready-made library of motions they could reproduce including odd parabolas, repeating ellipses, and even moves that look random. Write the researchers:
Once the system works on the screen the computer ensures that the gears don’t clash or interfere with the structural components. Then the designer can create a 3D object and print it out on any 3D printer. Think of it as a sort of library/workshop for geared robots that allows you to remix ready-made motions with a very simple toolkit. Disney Research, Zürich, Disney Research, Boston, ETH Zürich and MIT’s Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory worked together to bring the project to fruition. It also works well with “squishy” objects like jellyfish, allowing for real-looking animals to move in real-looking ways.
The fabled ‘healing factor’ that many of us wish we had to remain perpetually in the prime of our lives, not to mention being able to be a general bad-ass like Wolverine without the fear of death (although, it must be noted, that the pain itself is very real). Well, don’t you wish that the same can be said of your modern day consumer electronics devices? Remember all those fragile tablets and smartphones that are unable to withstand a drop or two on concrete? If only they were made out of stronger material, and this is what scientists at the CIDETEC Center for Electrochemical Technologies in Spain have done. This ingenius invention of a plastic polymer has self-healing properties, as evident by the video above.
Using a polymer that they call polyurethane, cutting it in half is not the end of the story, as that is only the beginning. Whenever the polyurethane is cut, its disulphides will be able to redistribute themselves back into their original form. This is a completely natural reaction at room temperature, and in a matter of 2 hours, it can “heal” itself to about 97% of its original shape. Not only that, the previously cut section can be stretched by hand without any loss in its strength. Truly amazing stuff, and you have got to watch the video above to be wowed by it all.

Different users have different choices, you won’t find everyone who loves an iPhone buy it in gold color. Apple recently unveiled the iPhone 5S and announced that the smartphone will be available in a gold color. Soon after that photos of an alleged gold HTC One surfaced online. According to a Russian website, the device will go on sale in the country for more than $3,000. That’s quite a lot for a HTC One, but the price is justified by the fact that this particular HTC One variant actually contains real 24 carat gold.

Wine lovers dread "cork taint," the mildewy, wet-basement-full-of-old-newspapers odor that ruins a freshly-opened bottle of wine. But the chemical responsible for cork taint’s foul smell may actually work by numbing your nose’s scent receptors. Huh?
