Another Windows Genuine Advantage Workaround Found

It looks like another Windows Genuine Advantage workaround/crack has been found. 9Down has published a simple file overwrite that will work with both Windows Update and Microsoft Download.

Is Microsoft ever going to get a validation system that is fool proof? Maybe, but they will have a lot of hackers to go through in order to get there! I guess we will see how long it will take Microsoft to patch this one.

Apple Wants Someone To Work On A “Secret Project” With Maps

Apple Wants Someone To Work On A Secret Project With Maps

Apple’s career website featured a new job opening a couple of days ago. The company requires a Maps Web User Interface Designer, the person would be working on a “new secret project,” among other things. Since the original job posting went live and the wording was picked up by online news outlets, it has now been removed from the posting. However, the rumor mill has now begun speculating as to what this new secret project might be, which is apparently related to Maps.

One theory is that perhaps Apple wants to expand the reach of its Maps service beyond iOS and Mac devices. Apple Maps debuted with iOS 6 and they will be available on Mac computers after OS X 10.9 Mavericks is released in the coming weeks. Rumor has it that Apple might allow the Maps service to be accessed through a conventional web browser, regardless of the operating system or device. People applying for this position must possess three years of experience in building native and web apps. The company also requires that candidates have knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JQuery, DOM, XML and JSON. It is too soon to say right now, for sure, what this project is. Hopefully we’ll see it materialize in the future.

BlackBerry Z30 Makes The Customary FCC Pit Stop

BlackBerry Z30 Makes The Customary FCC Pit Stop

Earlier this month BlackBerry announced its new phablet, the BlackBerry Z30, in Malaysia. The company didn’t exactly say when this device would be released in North America. Well, here’s a sign that the release just might be around the corner. BlackBerry’s new phablet has made the customary FCC pit stop, it needs approval from this regulatory body to be sold in the market. A GSM version that has passed through touts 4G LTE support on both 1,700MHz and 2,600MHz bands, which hints that the device may be coming to major Canadian carriers such as Bell, Rogers and Telus soon.

This particular model does not have support for the 700MHz and 1,700MHz 3G that AT&T and T-Mobile would require, respectively. Moreover, the rumored Verizon branded model which was pictured recently hasn’t made the FCC stop as yet. It is not known at this point in time which of the remaining major U.S. carriers will be offering this device, no confirmation has been received from any one of them as yet. It also remains to be seen if BlackBerry will directly sell an unlocked GSM version of the Z30 through its website. We reported yesterday that the company has once again started direct online sales, it is currently selling the Z10 and Q10 through its website, in the U.S.

Minecraft Blamed As Student Brings Weapons To School

Its not like games haven’t been blamed in the past for inciting violence, but one probably wouldn’t put indie hit Minecraft along with games that are often blamed. However, the father of a nine year old school boy in Florida believes that Minecraft incited his son to act out in a negative way. The boy reportedly told his friends that he had weapons in his backpack, the friends told on him which lead to school officials searching the boy’s backpack. They found an unloaded gun and a magazine with six bullets, a steak knife and a small sledgehammer.

Fortunately, no one was injured and the police confiscated all of the weapons. The gun belonged to the boy’s father, who claimed that while it was stored in a drawer, it couldn’t be fired as the firing pin had been removed. Speaking to WFTV news, he said that his son was “playing a character he learned from Minecraft,” as “they use hammers to dig and knives and guns to protect themselves from zombies.” The unnamed boy was charged with three counts of possession and he has been sentenced to home confinement by a state judge as a result of his actions, bringing lethal weapons into a school.

Russian Court Jails 6 More Greenpeace Activists

MOSCOW — A court in the northern Russian city of Murmansk on Sunday sent six more Greenpeace activists to jail for two months and showed no sign that the remaining two activists would be treated any differently for a protest at a drilling platform in Arctic waters.

Twenty other activists and two journalists were ordered jailed for two months during a marathon court session on Thursday that stretched late into night, but the court ruled to hold the remaining eight only until new hearings could be held on Sunday.

Alleged iPad 5 Rear Casing Compared With iPad 4 And iPad Mini

Over the past few weeks we’ve seen a lot of alleged iPad 5 parts and components begin leaked on the internet. The purported rear casing of Apple’s next generation iPad has been seen multiple times, and the part itself is almost always been identical in all of those leaks. The latest one is no different. A video has been posted online in which a similar rear casing is compared with the iPad 4 and iPad mini.

The rear casing in this video is of the “Space Grey” color that Apple has debuted with the iPhone 5s. It is expected that the same color will be offered for iPad 5 as well. The comparison makes it evident that iPad 5 is going to be thinner than its predecessor, and the fact that it will also have slimmer bezels. This possibility has been rumored many times in the past as well. Apparently the design of iPad 5 is going to be a lot similar to that of the iPad mini, and this rear casing certainly does bear resemblance to that of its younger sibling. Still, nothing can be said for sure right now given the fact that these are, after all, leaks from unofficial sources. Apple is expected to unveil the iPad 5 and iPad mini 2 on October 15th, only then we’ll know what the new tablets really look like.
