GameStick has had quite the ride as reached its $100,000 goal earlier at the start of this year, and since then, has been hit with delay after delay leaving many of its backers to believe they won’t live long enough to see the product become available. While Plants vs Zombies 2 for the iOS platform has already been launched for nearly a month already, not to mention having passed the 25 million download mark in a jiffy, helping lower the productivity of iOS device owners at work and possibly damaging their marital relations at home, Android users are “spared” from such addictive torture. Not for Android users who happen to live in China, however, as it seems that the Android version of Plants vs Zombies 2 has finally made its way there via Baidu’s AppSearch Android market.
As for the rest of the world, we will just have to sit tight and keep on checking out whether the Google Play Store will carry this title or not. Or one can always take the shortcut and purchase an iPhone 5S, of course. Still, folks living in China will be able to enjoy the title which boasts of a new map-based progression system as well as a mix of themes and costumes that range from pirates to mummies, and even to the wild west. Of course, permissions to this version of the game would require the ability to send SMS messages, so there are tradeoffs to consider. Just how desperate are you to play the game on your Android device, anyway?

There should be little doubt that Google is planning on continuing their Nexus smartphone program well into the future – that much is clear. What’s not as clear is their release schedule and manufacturer choices – the pattern we’ve expected to find appearing several years ago with a new OEM for each device being doused […]
WinAero StartIsGone: for those who don’t need no stinkin’ Start button in Windows 8.1
Posted in: Today's ChiliDoes the lack of options in that resurrected Start button have you all worked up? You’re not alone. In fact, WinAero has developed a solution that gets rid of the lackluster feature in Windows 8.1 with its StartIsGone add-on. The software frees up space along the task bar since the button doesn’t carry the same Start menu functionality that it used to. Free downloads are available for both 32- and 64-bit versions of the OS via the source link that follows should you be looking to keep one less item off of your desktop.

Boo-Keun Yoon, the co-CEO of Samsung who also happens to hold the portfolio of being the head of the consumer electronics business, apparently mentioned to a German publication that the South Korean conglomerate has plans to churn out TVs in the future which will be powered by the open source Tizen mobile operating system. If that were to pan out, it would certainly be something worth checking out, especially when you consider that a Samsung Galaxy S4 with Tizen 3.0 as the operating system of choice has already been spotted in the wild.
Apparently, Samsung still has plans for Tizen despite being one of the major device manufacturers that use Google’s Android as the main operating system of choice. The presence of Tizen allegedly provides Samsung with more control over its own future, a safety net of sorts, if you will, so that it need not use Google as its crutch should things turn sour sometime down the road. Right now with Samsung’s TVs, the company already churns out their own software, but as they intend to integrate additional functionality into TVs and bring various devices together, a common operating system would make much more sense and an easier life to boot.

Super Smash Bros. for the Nintendo Wii U and 3DS had quite the summer as Nintendo finally unveiled the game’s first gameplay trailer during E3 2013. Since then, we’ve heard a few updates surrounding the game, specifically concerning who will be added to the title’s roster of fighters. In July, Nintendo revealed Captain Olimar and his gang of Pikmin will be making their return, and today, we’re hearing the pride of the Mushroom Kingdom herself, Princess Peach, has been added to the roster. Making appointments and purchases online is no longer a novelty, but rather, it has proven to be the norm for many of us. The same applies too to those who want to schedule Genius Bar appointments using Apple’s online support webpage, but a tiny change in the policy has required users to now sign in using their valid Apple ID before they are able to go ahead and schedule a Genius Bar appointment.
What you see above is pretty much the same screen that will greet your eyes whenever you intend to schedule a Genius Bar appointment using Apple’s online reservations system. The “Open Sesame!” procedure here would require you to key in your valid Apple ID before any progress is made. While this new rule was reported by TechCrunch yesterday, it remains to be seen just when this particular policy change first occurred. Apple apparently changed the appointment policy so that they are able to gain higher levels of control over support appointments, payments included. Not only that, with customer information being connected to an Apple ID, various relevant information such as outstanding support tickets can be accessed by the Genius Bar staff before a customer arrives, helping streamline the process for everyone.
