Samsung Galaxy Gear smartwatch leaks with health focus

Samsung’s Galaxy Gear smartwatch has apparently leaked, just days ahead of the wearable’s expected debut at Samsung’s pre-IFA September 4 event. The bulky touchscreen smartwatch was unofficially shown off in prototype form to VentureBeat, along with details from an internal marketing video which describe the onboard WiFi and Bluetooth, roughly 3-inch OLED display, and a […]

Man allegedly pawns office computers (gets caught)

There are all sorts of ways to get money.

Some are wise, some less so, while others are just asking for pain to knock upon your door.

Gary Lee Cochran stands accused of perhaps taking one risk too far. The 59-year-old is said to have obtained money without legal justification and, perhaps, sufficient aforethought.

For police in Charleston, W.Va., said he took gadgets from his place of work and into a pawn shop called Kanawha Valley Fine Jewelry and Loan. (Motto: “All Loans Confidential!”)

You might imagine that the Kanawha County Schools, where Cochran worked, might have noticed that the computers had apparently been teleported from their place.

However, as the Charleston Daily Mail reports, Cochran’s alleged scheme was successful for some time.

Xbox One indie program will support free-to-play games, microtransactions

Xbox One indie program will support free-to-play games, microtransactions

Looking into Microsoft’s ID@Xbox program for independent developers? You’ll be happy to hear that the company won’t be placing any restrictions on your desired distribution model. Speaking to Joystiq at PAX Prime, Microsoft portfolio director for digital games Chris Charla explained that independent developers are free to utilize “every business model that any other game on Xbox One has.” This means that independent self-published games won’t be restricted to a different price structure than games from mainstream studios, opening up the possibilities for indie games with premium pricing, micro-transactions or free-to-play models. Charla explained it as a fundamental tenet of the program, clarifying that ID@Xbox titles have access to all the same features as any other game. “They have full Gamerscore, full Achievements, can take advantage of SmartGlass, Kinect – if you can do it with an Xbox One game, you can do it with anything that comes through the ID@Xbox program.” It’s a smart policy, one that takes full advantage of the growing popularity of the indie gaming scene. Galaxy Note 3 Pictured Once Again

Galaxy Note 3 Pictured Once Again

There have been uncountable rumors and leaks about the Samsung Galaxy Note 3. The company has confirmed that it will officially unveil the new phablet on September 4th, an event has been scheduled and invites to the press have been sent out. All that’s left to do is to make the announcement. Till that happens though, we’re bound to hear more rumors and see more leaks, it seems inevitable. A purported picture of Galaxy Note 3 has leaked online. The picture reveals that the device might have less rounded corners as opposed to its predecessor and might also have slimmer bezels.

Despite all of the leaks and rumors, not much is known about the design of Galaxy Note 3. We’ve seen a few images leak in the past but none of them have been able to clearly show us what the upcoming phablet looks like. This particular picture hints at the possibility of Galaxy Note 3 not having corners that are rounded as much as they are on Galaxy Note 2. When the new phablet’s purported front panel was leaked last week, we saw slimmer bezels. They’re seen once again in this picture, does that mean the Galaxy Note 3 really does have slim bezels? One can’t say for sure since the image is, after all, from an unofficial source and is quite blurry. Fortunately, we only have to wait for a couple of more days before Samsung shows the device in all its glory. [Image via TechKiddy]

Samsung Galaxy Note 12.2 Inch SM P900 Tablet Image Leaked

It was back in July when we first spotted the high-end SM-P900 12.2 inch tablet from Samsung. Later in the same month it was rumored that testing and evaluation of the tablet had already begun. Two variants of the Galaxy Note 12.2 are expected, a Wi-Fi only variant and a 4G LTE variant. The display is said to have a 2,560×1,600 pixel resolution. The first image of the Samsung Galaxy Note 12.2 tablet has leaked online, though there’s no way to confirm the image’s authenticity, so take it with a grain of salt.

Even though it has repeatedly been rumored that the new 12.2 inch tablet from Samsung will be unveiled at the IFA conference in Berlin, the company itself didn’t mention anything about its new tablet when it was laying out plans for the new phablet and smartwatch it is launching on September 4th. The Galaxy Note 12.2 tablet is said to be powered by Samsung’s new Exynos 5 octa processor. Since the tablet belongs to Samsung’s 9x series, it is likely to be a flagship product, Samsung’s flagship devices have traditionally been part of the 9x series. No information about the pricing and availability of this tablet has been revealed as of now. [Image via MovePlayer]

Sony Extends Carrier Billing Courtesy To T-Mobile Subscribers

Sony Extends Carrier Billing Courtesy To T Mobile Subscribers

There’s an alternative if you don’t want to use a credit card with Sony Entertainment Network or the PlayStation Store, the alternative is carrier billing. Sony already offers this alternative to AT&T subscribers in the U.S., they’ve now extended the courtesy to T-Mobile subscribers as well. Carrier billing can’t unfortunately be used with the PlayStation Vita, but it will be available on PlayStation 4 when it launches later this year in November.

Sony works with Boku, a mobile payments company, to make the process easier for it’s users, who can download content such as games, themes, add-ons, TV shows and movies from the PlayStation Store and Sony Entertainment Network. To purchase through carrier billing, customers can choose “mobile” as the payment option on PlayStation Store or Sony Entertainment Network and enter their mobile number. To confirm the transaction, they’ll have to respond to a SMS, the charge will appear in the next mobile phone bill. The ease of use carrier billing offers is quite obvious. It also serves as a great alternative for those who are now uncomfortable with using their credit cards particularly with Sony’s services online, given how much information was leaked when Sony’s various networks were brutally attacked by hackers.
