Apple TV gains Major League Soccer and Disney Junior channels

Apple TV gains Major League Soccer and Disney Junior channels

It seems that Apple’s taking its little hobby more seriously with each passing day. Not long after adding a slew of new features to Apple TV, the company has quietly added two additional channels to its growing lineup: Major League Soccer and Disney Junior. For its part, the MLS app lets viewers watch live league matches with a $25-per-season subscription, while the latter offering brings video content for young ones but relies on participating cable providers for access, similarly to the Disney Channel and Disney XD. We should mention the pair of channels appear to be only available in the US, so fret not if some of you don’t see these show up on your Apple TV’s homescreen.

eBay Goes Green With Data Center

eBay Goes Green With Data CenterGoing green has been a pretty popular mantra for quite some time already, as the developed world realizes that there just isn’t enough energy to go around for everyone, not to mention that with more and more folks able to purchase vehicles, the world is going to get a whole lot warmer in double quick time. Apart from that, the growing use of computers and demand for additional space translates to data centers that consume a whole lot of juice in order to maintain all of those servers. This means companies like eBay tend to lose a whole lot of revenue each time there is no power, which is why eBay has been working to develop a “greener” data center in South Jordan, Utah, which will hopefully relegate costly and unpredictable blackouts to a thing of the past.

This new data center is now operational like the Death Star, except that it relies on thirty fuel cells which were developed by Bloom Energy, to transform natural gas into electricity using an electro-chemical process. Apar t from that, eBay intends to offset its carbon footprint by harvesting the “heat waste” generated from natural gas pipelines, transforming it into energy for its Utah site. Captain Planet could not be any prouder for sure.

ZTE Warp 4G Announced By Boost Mobile

ZTE Warp 4G Announced By Boost MobileBoost Mobile has just announced that they will have yet another 4G capable smartphone on offer, where it will come in the form of the ZTE Warp 4G. The ZTE Warp 4G might seem familiar to some, that is because it is the updated version of last year’s smartphone that will also come with support for Sprint’s LTE 4G network. The ZTE Warp 4G will be powered by Android 4.1 Jelly Bean as the operating system of choice, which means it will be far from a flagship device that can challenge other top line handsets from different manufacturers.

Other hardware specifications include a 4.5” HD display with durable glass; an 8-megapixel shooter at the back with a 1-megapixel front facing camera, a dual-core 1.2GHz processor, 1GB RAM and 8GB of internal memory, and Wi-Fi and stereo Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity, GPS support, and a 2,070mAh battery to power the entire shebang. It will also arrive pre-loaded with a number of Boost Mobile apps and services, including Boost Zone and Mobile ID. Those who are interested will be able to check out the ZTE Warp 4G from Boost Mobile’s web site for $199.99 a pop. Boost Mobile will not need you to sign up for a contract with them, where it will operate on Sprint’s 3G/4G networks.

Google Street View in the Large Hadron Collider is a smash

Welcome to the tunnel at the Large Hadron Collider.

Perhaps Google Street View should be renamed “Google Anything View.” Google’s wandering cameras have now made their way into CERN’s Large Hadron Collider, the atom-smashing wonder located under the Franco-Swiss border.

Since it wasn’t feasible to send a Google Street View car into the Large Hadron Collider facility, a specially equipped trike was employed instead. The Street View explorations are now available online for the public to peruse. You can follow along through the tunnels of the particle collider and pretend you’re on the staff at CERN.

Gun Box Helps Stow Away Your Firearms Safely

Gun Box Helps Stow Away Your Firearms SafelyI know that there is this huge debate going on right now (and has been for quite some time already) concerning guns and gun control laws, but this is not what we are here to talk about today. For those of you who own firearms, you know how dangerous it can be if it falls into the wrong hands. Perhaps it is time you forget about the drawer by your bedside table, and rely on the Gun Box to keep your trusty firearm. The Gun Box prides itself in being the first gun safe which relies on RFID as well as a biometric fingerprint scanner in order to keep its contents securely locked away, without sacrificing on speed when you need to whip it out in a jiffy.

Safety and convenience comes together with the Gun Box, as it allows you to obtain rapid access to your firearm via fingerprint ID, unique RFID ring or bracelet, or even a combination of both. Other than that, there is also a special locking system so that little ones are unable to gain access to it when you are not around. The Gun Box is made out of an aircraft strength aluminum alloy shell, alert notifications whenever the box is open, moved or tampered with, GPS tracking whenever the Gun Box is on the move, and even a battery backup which lets it last for a few weeks. Right now, the Gun Box needs $100,000 on Indiegogo to become a reality.

China Mobile iPhone 5s And iPhone 5c Promotional Poster Allegedly Leaked

China Mobile iPhone 5s And iPhone 5c Promotional Poster Allegedly Leaked

China Mobile has already said that it is keen on selling the iPhone, adding that several issues were getting in the way. It appears as though all of the issues might soon be resolved, and Apple’s new smartphones might finally become available from the world’s largest mobile carrier that touts more than 700 million subscribers. An alleged China Mobile promotional poster for the new iPhones has leaked online, promising support for 3G/4G and blazing fast speeds of up to 100 megabits per second.

Rumor has it that China Mobile will put the new iPhones to the test on its TD-LTE network this month, they’re expected to enter beta mode in October. The carrier is finally expected to market both iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c to customers in November. China Mobile’s 4G TD-LTE network is ready to be fired up, but it is yet to receive the required permission from China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. The Ministry has previously said that permissions will be granted by the end of this year, though rumors indicate that this might happen in or around mid-October. Once the network is fired up, it is believed that then it would only be a matter of time before both new iPhones are finally launched on China Mobile. [Image via Unwiredview]
